Obit transcribed from Winkler Co, TX News d. Aug 1936.

Mrs. Westbrook, 67, Hit by Santa Fe Passenger at Tuscola.

Tuscola, Aug 7-Mrs. Georgia A. Westbrook, 67, housekeeper at the Santa Fe section house here, was killed by a westbound passenger train Friday morning at 9:40 o'clock as she walked along the side of the railroad track. *cuts off here* ...train could be brought to a stop a short distance from the Tuscola depot.

Witnesses of the accident expressed opinion Mrs. Westbrook either thought she was walking along a parallel side track, unaware it had recently been removed, and did not apprehend her danger, or that she hoped to reach a path just ahead before the train came upon her. She had started to a garden on the right of way west of the track to gather vegetables. As the whistle of the approaching train sounded, she waved her vegetable basket, as in salute, onlookers said.

A few weeks ago, while Mrs. Westbrook was on a visit to Oklahoma, the west switch was removed. It had been her custom, after crossing the track, from the section house, to walk along the switch to the intersection of a path leading to the garden.

Mrs. Minnie Nelson, 617 Elm street, Abilene, a daughter of Mrs. Westbrook, came here Friday morning to visit with her mother, arriving less than five minutes after the tragic accident had occured.

Mrs. Westbrook came to Abilene in 1927 from Duncan, Oklahoma. For several years she lived there with Mrs. Nelson. More than two years ago she was employed as housekeeper at the Tuscola section house, of which T.F. Hicks is foreman.

Surviving are four children, Woody Westbrook of Pecos, Jim Westbrook of Duncan, Oklahoma, Mrs. Callie Brannan of Kermit, and Mrs. Nelson; two brothers, Drew and Bob Sanders of Temple, Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Allie Wampler of Vernon; 18 grandchildren, and two great-granchildren, six-year-old twin daughters of Mrs. Olga Looney of Rising Star. Mrs. Looney, a daughter of Mrs. Nelson, was expected here last night. The absent children and the brothers and sisters were also enroute here.

Mrs. Westbrook's husband, Jim Westbrook, died in Louisiana, nine years ago.

The funeral arrangements were incomplete, pending arrival of the relatives. The body was conveyed tonight to Abilene to the home of Mrs. Nelson, where it will remain until the time of the rites. Rev. Bailey Smith, minister of the Penecostal Assembley of Jesus Christ, Abilene, is to officiate. Burial will be made in Abilene.

Jenkins & Hodge of Tuscola have *cuts off* charge of the funeral arrangements.
