Ancestors - I am doing research into the WESTMAN family-tree nl. Ancestors/Descendants of Charles Wessman Snr. (name changed to WESTMAN in the early 1900's) who was the son of Captain Carl John Wessman, both of Visby, Gotland, Sweden. Charles Wessman was shipwrecked in Mossel Bay, South Africa in 1876 and lived in Blanco (near George, South Africa) from 1879 until his death in 1920. He was married to Johanna Erasmus the youngest daughter of Lourens Erasmus, a farmer in the Mossel Bay District. They had ten children. It is known that one daughter emigrated to Australia.
