Hi. I am not doing geneology work but was searching for information on a piece of silver from my husband's family. We have a large tablespoon marked "W.H.M. Weston" (The H is suspect, but I think it's what it is). I can't find anything on a Weston silver company, but my search linked me to your email. It is engraved "To my Mother Aug 8th 56". I assume this was 1856. Just wanted to let you know that there is a piece of silver with a Weston mark. Good luck.
P.S. my husband's family are from Boston area about that time.

I am so sorry that we seem to have missed messages for the last five years! I will contact you via email today. Do you have a sister named Callie? She seems to have the same family members and I missed her messages as well.
We are indeed cousins and I remember your grandparents well.
They were both lovely, generous, gracious people and I only wish my children could have known them.

I would love to see your Lowry Family, including Theodora and which Weston she married.

I am Cal Campbell, descendant of Daniel Weston, son of William Weston, d 1825 on Edisto Island. Daniel, his brother William White Burroughs Weston, and sisters Elizabeth, who married Charles Stanyarne, Rebecca, who married a Lowry (whom I hope you can identify), and Abigail who married Dr John Henry Grant of Walterboro, were the children listed in the 1825 Isham Lowry deed of taking care of these Weston Kids.

Hope that you can help me.

Cal Campbell

I do not remember who was interested in knowing why Isham Lowry cared for the Weston children after their parents' deaths. You may already have this information, but I've recently discovered that Isham's sister, Theodora, was married to a Weston. These Weston children were probably hers. Could be the answer.

Hi

Thanks for your message, William Weston married Hannah Bray on the 3rd September 1810 at St Lukes, Chelsea, so he could have been born in 1790 certainly not as I first supposed 1800. There were no children born or at least registered at St Lukes and no deaths. He appears again in Brighton by about 1818 stated to be a man servant and has 5 children, mother HARRIET. 1)John BRAY Weston b1820 2)William Weston b1821 3)James Weston b1822 4)Charles Weston b1824 5) Eliza Weston b1828. These births registered at St Nicholas Church, Brighton

There is some doubt as to whether William b1821's mother was Harriet, but Hannah and also Eliza b 1828's mother was possibly Mary

William again appears at Charle's wedding in 1844, father and son stated to be grocers, Charles living at Cole Street SE1 I am curious to know what happened to Hannah between 1810 and 1818 before Harriet came on the scene and also where was William and what was he doing, I still have a fair bit of sleuthing to do

I have not been able so far to trace Hannah Bray/Harriets birth date or were she/they were born, same goes for William

So if amongst your Westons any of these details ring bells I would be grateful for your input. Also my uncle who has since died did some research about 40 ago and said that there were family connections with the Weston brother, highway men, hung at Tyborn, not sure whether that is true but worth googling

The first five I mention range from the late 1700 to the last one in the 6th generation dies in the early 1900's. I have a lot of Margarets and a few Margeries but no listed as Margery Weston and none married to a Herbert. In reading whats written I did find a few Margarets who married ministers. One of the Weston girls married the Moody of the Moody bible inst. Regards Bob Weston.

Many thanks for reply. I have since found William was born about 1790 and married 1810, there is no Margory Weston as far as I know but I have not tracked down all the offspring of his marriage. There could have been 2 separate family, same William, I am awaiting some info so if the your name does come up I will let you know

Hi. Well
the Mary Alice Weston I know is still alive and living in Tulsa Ok. She was born about 1934/1936.
HI Roy
Well What I do know is that my mother is the youngest of 9. I Also know she had a sister name Violet (Still living) And a sister name Mabel now deceased.
I don't have their married names.
Mom would talk about an aunt raising her on their farm after her mother died. I think her dad wasn't around much.
That was in western Pa. So I bet it was a bit of culture shock to go from Ohio to PA.
I'll try to find out more.
Do you happen to have the names of those siblings?

thanks.

Rhyanna

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your reply. Have you found any family history from East Sussex/Mayfield area? If so I will certainly be able to help with your research. The Weston family/Aaron Weston the miller are from these parts and were all involved in agriculture around 1800.
So sorry to hear about your wife. I'm English, my husband is Belgian, which is why we have the 'french' name.
Jenny Beaupain

Hi,
I have been researching the history of the Argos Hill Windmill, now in dire need of restoration. It is situated at the top of my garden. Aaron Weston is the most interesting person associated with the mill,he married the previous miller's daughter (Eliza - his first wife) and he and his family managed the mill for a good 75 years. I now have quite a bit of information about the family. Aaron is buried in the churchyard of St Dunstan's Church in Mayfield, East Sussex. If I can help you with your inquiries let me know.

I would be very interested to know more about your mother's family and who Oliver's mother and father were. My great grandmother was Mary Alice Weston and she had a large family. Her father was Simeon Weston and they were all from the Maine area, specifically Readfield, Maine. I think that Oliver or Charles Weston was a son of one of them and your mother was named after her, but no proof yet. You need to find out more.
Roy Rhino

Mary Alice Weston is not a common name, so my guess is like many people, she was named after a relative. Find out who her elderly relatives were as far back as she can remember, family bibles are a good source. I have looked at all sources to date. The only other source would be people like you who pop up.

Roy Rhino

Thanks for your message. There are two completely different groups of Westons that arrived in the US at almost the same time. My group is from Edmund Weston b 1 Jun 1606 in Shustoke, Warwickshire County, England and married Jane Delano here in Duxbury, Plymouth County, MA in 1657 and died June 1686 in the same place. He had four children, Edmund, Jr, Mary, John and Elnathan and rest of is history. Edmund's father was Edmond and his mother was Agnes Hall. I have no information on them England. Maybe some Westons in England will pick up on this message and shed some light. That is as far back as I have found any info.

The rest is who married who and taking it forward from there. My family tree is on www.ancestry.com and is published under the Weston, Rhino, Voelckel, Kiser names of my immediate family. As I have said many times on this database, my great grandfather Simeon Louis Rhino, was adopted by some Rhinos named James and Alice and his given original surname was Davis. My great grandmother was Mary Alice Weston, daughter of Simeon Weston b. 16 Sep 1820 in Brants Island, ME and he married Lavinia Blanchard and has 7 children: Mary Alice, Luella, Simeon Jr, Thomas Milton, Sarah Helen, Amanda and Harriet (Newell)-(my middle name).

Roy, You responded to my inquiry in May on Patricia Weston. Daughter of Avery Weston. Well to find out she was adopted and not of natural birth according to another relative. I did hear fronm a Win Weston and he said his father George Weston 1898-1988 said they had cousins in Springfield ,Il and in Mendota, Il where they started. Win said he is descended from John Weston III. I am on Ancestry.com all tyh etime and nothing ever pops up on Westons. Don't know if this is anymore help than last time. My connection is thru Kathryn, Avery's wife she is a sister to my grandfather Frank Kweiser. All Kweiser children 4 others were born in Mendota,,Il Ron

Dear LG: I went thru the first 60 pages and I could not find the four page pegagree that was in the book I got though the library. There is one mention of three different books so I do not know which copy is now on the net. But it was fun looking. I tried to buy it but couldn't figure out how to do it. What I do know is that 20 years after 1066 (1086) ROGER DE MONTGOMERY gave his neice in marrage to WARIN the BALD and made him the sheriff of Staffordshire. Thn he dies and she marries Regiold De Bagoili. Who became sheriff of Stafordshire. She must have been very young because the tale is told that she had a son HAMO in 1135. (I do not beleive it I think we are missing a generation in there) HAMO becomes a Knight a Knights Templer and a crusader and dies in 1212. I am the 25th generation from Hamo, the first to take the name WESTON and the 10th generation from JOHN WESTON III who landed in Salem MA. in 1644. There are the two main branches of WESTON. Those who took the name from WESTON_UNDER_LYZARD and the family who took WESTON that came from WEST-OF-TOWN. DNA says that the two families are not related. ROY RHINO knows more about this than I do. Regards Bob

Dear Ryhana:
There are 18 copies of Antiquies of Staffordshire in the US mainly at universities. I went to our local library and requested them to get a copy on library loan and they did and I photo-copied it. The collector (author) was a man named Erdswick(e) I is four pages and if I remember correctly it it starts on page 36. My family trace is from SIR HAMO to a SIR JOHN on page three. He marries twice and I am descended from the second wife who jut happens to be his second cousin. First, Isobella De Bromely, Her descendants wound up with (and sold) land now known as Weston Park. About 457 acres near WESTON-UNDER-LYZARD. His second wife was Isolda de Newton. Hugh Weston and John Weston were brothers. John changed his name to De Newton when he moved to the family farm known as Newton So, John de Newton had a son named William de Newton. Hugh has a son named Hugh de Weston. Sir HUGH has a son JOHN de WESTON who marries twice. They have a son ROBERT from whom descend the Westons of Rugeley and Litchfield. Robert is the eighth generation from HAMO. I am 25th generation from Hamo and 10th genberation from JOHN WESTON III who got to Salem MA in 1644 at age 17. He did stowe away at age 13 and was on the ship Mary & John that got to the colonies but the ships captain (Robert Sayers)knew the family and returned him to England and home. The ships owner was Roger Ludlow, part owner in the Massachuttes Bay Company.
I suspect that the real reason for JOHN III (1628-1723)getting out of the country was that his father, John Jr was in deep trouble with Cromwell. He was found with enough armour in his church at Cholsey to equip a company and loyal to Charles the I. Cholsey is downstream on the Thames River from Oxford in Berkshire county. Good luck in getting the book. Regards Bob

Dear Daeanarah or Rhyana: as the case may be. I think your contact with Roy Rhino is the best one you will have. I have looked in our books one and two and do not find any lead ins. If you have any contact with a Weston male (out side of the jerk) who you could get to do a DNA test it may prove which line up you belong to beyond a ahadow of a doubt. Roy knows more about the EDMUND WESTON line than anyone else. My and several other WESTON people have DNA R1a1 and we have found another Weston with I1. That is most unusal for a DNA. If you have any interest in either of the family DNA the the contact is westons@sympatico.ca (I think) I am doing this from memory and at 81 who can tell. If I screwed-up I will try to get the correct one to you. In my branch of the family we go back to SIR HAMO de WESTON (1135-1212) Back when HENRY II was king he had a problem with men named TOM was it TOM the SMITH or TOM the BAKER or TOM the CARPENTER or TOM the FORESTER. So HENRY decreed that all men must take a second name. The choice was what ever trade you were in or the name of the land you lived on. This may explain why there are so many SMITH's in the phonebook. Our branch of WESTON came from WESTON-UNDER-LYZARD. That means a place in England where there is a semi cliff with a collection of Lepers at the top. Weston and Wesson are the same family. In Middle English WESTON is pronounced WESSON and was spelled WESFON SF being a double S. As the SF evoled it became ST. There is a book printed in 1820 with a four page pedgree of the family. WESTON also means WEST OF TOWN. I suspect that that is where the EDMUND WESTON branch got its name. Roy Rhino will know a lot more than I do. My Email is rweston@aol.com if I can be of any help to you. Regards Bob

Dear Jenney: Ah, yes, welcome to the land of the lost. I think that the only way out is to find a "Weston" and get his DNA done. Brian, (Cousin) descends from THOMAS the 4th son of JOHN WESTON III. I descend from John IV his oldest son that lived. I can trace back to SIR HAMO De WESTON 1135-1212. His wife Agnes lived to 1214. Now from HAMO on the only place that I know of to trace all of the "Weston line" is the 1820 book. Our DNA by the way is R1a1. There is a branch that has I1. That in its self is very rare. Where you are the most active seacher is John Spillsbury. Now all I have to do is find his Email address and send it to you. My Email is rweston@aol.com Regards Bob
