Gene,

I have read the following note dated 8/29/09 and I would love to see the copy of Dorothy's birth certificate and marriage certificate. And anything else that you would like to share.

Your mother's mother I did find in Chicago and I have a fair amount of information. I have also been to North Sydney; and there are strong Southern connections in the family line.

I think you are a little confused about the Levi Weymouths. One tip which maybe you never realized; of course I will have to go back and check the birth certificates but your grandfather went by the name Edgar if my memory serves me right and your great grandfather the judge actually changed the order of his name after his father and grandfather died. It may have caused you confusion.

If you have the bible, does it give any ancestry info. I am pretty sure of the Weymouth lineage and was quite impressed with the Weymouth line overall.
Weymouth Street is not named after the judge; I just want you to know that. That has been verified. It was named after another Weymouth family member.

I will forward my fax number under special cover.

swoodsum1 August 29, 2009

I would be interested in swapping email addresses with you and more information. I have some newspaper articles and birth certificates.

I am ...hiomoose@hotmail.com ...

I have a limited amount of information on my mother's side.

My mother was Dorothy Zibiah Weymouth, born in Brookline, MA 11/03/1898. Her authentic birth cert. indicates the following: Father Edgar Levi Weymouth born in Atlanta, GA and mother Emma Alice Morgan b. 1878 in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island Canada. Grand parents Wilson Morgan b. 1853 and wife Yibiah Morgan
However my parents marriage cert. says my grandfather was born in Portland, ME. (could very well be as the other people in the lineage are mostly from Maine) and grandmother born in Lynn, MA.? (Seems like this may not be true as I believe I have other info indicating the Cape Breton birthplace.)

My Grandfather’s father was Levi Eugene Weymouth b. 04/23/1845, in Portland, ME and his wife was Hattie A. Hawkes b. 02/17/1841, Hattie had a daughter also who was the married Mrs Mary Wood of 37 Waverly Street – Portland, MEGreat grandfather also Levi E. Weymouth and his wife Annie Bucknum Johnson b. 1822 in Falmouth, ME

My Great Grandfather Levi Eugene Weymouth was a practicing attorney at the age of 79 (1924) in Portland, ME and has Weymouth St named after him. He was an attorney also inFulton County, GA

I am also in possession of my grandfathers special bible with various notations in it.

Eugene L.
My husband's great grandmother was Carrie Emerson (Caroline Mary Weymouth) daughter of Capt. Levi Weymouth who died July 11, 1858 at 39 years of age. It has been told that he died of yellow fever in Cuba. Do you have any information about him? Also do you know the parents of Levi Weymouth who died in 1872? Having four Levi Weymouths, that I know of in the family, really confused me for a while.
I'd love to hear from you!

i have traced my husband's tree - he is Chris weymouth too- back to St. Augustine the Less, Bristol. Edward Weymouth married Susannah Symes from Yeovilton, and moved to London. He was a carpenter, his son Henry became a plumber. My father in law used to pronounce the family name Waymouth.

Cynthia and Charles are my great grandparents. I have his Byron Birthday book given to him on his birthday January 8th, 1882. He was born in Frankfurt-am-Main Germany in 1849 and served in the Franco Prussian War. Her deserted the army and somehow got to Montana where he had a silver mine. Cynthia was born about 1860 in Bethel Vermont. At an early age, I think her parents died, and she moved to the mid west. It is curious that she met Charles in Chicago. I have a wonderful Christmas letter from to her sister Lillian write in 1885. I would love to hear from you. visit my site https://ems.resrunner.com/capecod You will see a picture of Cynthia Fulsom Weymouth Burg

Re: Nicholas Weymouth

Hello Shirley,

I noticed that you had some questions (dated in 2001) about someone named Nicholas Weymouth.

I am curious as to how much you know about this person. I grew up in Maine (southern / midcoast region) and when I was a child, we found a gravestone deep in the woods behind our house. It has been decades since I saw it, so I don't remember much. But I do remember that it was the grave of someone named Nicholas Weymouth, and at least one date on the stone was in the 1800s. There was also an iron post next to the grave, which I believe was from the American Legion, so I assume he had been a soldier.

The last time I was out there, the gravestone had fallen over and was very difficult to find. At this point, decades later, it might be nearly impossible. But my family has always wondered who Nicholas Weymouth was and why he was buried so far away from any houses or roads.

Any information you might be able to add would be greatly appreciated. Likewise, if you'd like I can try to contact my brother and sister for information as well. They were children at the time too, but they may remember more than I do (a middle name, or actual dates, etc).

Please respond via email, since I don't normally follow these boards.

David Eldridge
davide@maine.edu
Several months ago I volunteered to administer the Weymouth Surname Project as part of FamilyTreeDNA's program. I had my DNA tested and created a Weymouth DNA site to encourage others to participate. I have been disappointed that no other Weymouth/Waymouth has joined the project. We need more Weymouths to join in order for us to get a full understanding of Weymouth family history.

Please take a look at the project at the following website and consider joining if you can.

www.familytreedna.com/public/weymouth

David Elliott Weymouth
Rio Rancho, NM
David@Weymouths.com

PS: I have no economic interest in this project.
I have a Bill (William) Weymouth in my family who was in the military, but I don't have many details. I know he was at Fort Leavenworth at some point and he would have been 35 in 1942 so this may be to old to match your photo. Let me know what you think.
Thanks, Claricia Mize

N.H.Son of Shadrack, brother of Capt. James Weymouth.Married 24 March 1774 to Hulda(?)Folsom. As best I can read my uncle list as referance,"The Genesis of the United States" by Alexander Brown,P 355.
Yes, this is the DC Weymouth and Flora Fraser connection I'm looking for--although I wonder why there is no son named Harry in the 1885 Texas census which shows them and his daughter Edith from his first marriage? I'd love any other info it has about him--I was unable to find ANY Weymouth listed in 1920 or 1930 census, but if he died in 1919 that would explain it! Also, is there anything in there about DC's first marriage, to Elisa Aulsebrook in Jefferson WI in 1873, and birth of daughter Edith in 1874? He m. Flora in 1878 and immediately left for Texas, taking his young daughter with him--I assumed that meant she had died, but nope, she turns up in both 1920 and 1930 census as spinster teacher in Denver living with--surprise!--her own mother, who remarried a William Sherrick of PA in 1883 in Colorado. Obviously a scandal and/or a mystery behind this one! I also found Flora, a widow living with half sister in MA in 1920 census and 'working out' as a domestic. any info gratefully accepted!

Many thanks--strange that she has Edith living w/mother in 1880 census because I found her living with DC and Flora, same census in Frio Co? No date for death of DC, but if Harry was helping support mother and sister Edith's education (which would indicate she was living with them at one time, wouldn't it?) it would seem likely that his father was already dead by 1900?

Would you mind checking the Weymouth book index for two other bits?
-to see if there is a Daniel Riddle Weymouth listed at all? There's a grave in Jefferson WI with this name and dates 1903-1937 but no death certificate there, indicating he died somewhere else and was brought to family plot in WI. Also odd DC didn't name his son, if it was the only one, Daniel--a family tradition for three generations. Harry and Apple-- must be Fraser family names, as they don't turn up anywhere in our Weymouth lineage.
-to see what info it has about Cynthia Weymouth (sister of DC) who m. Charles Burg in North Dakota in 1880 and lived in Montana until death in 1901--specifically anything about her children Ernestine and Kate Sephronia; also if it gives dates for birth /death of Charles Copeland Burg, aka Copeland, who was a well known artist.Family source gives quite diff. dates than artist bio on website!

again, thanks so much!1

The father to your DC was Daniel Folsum Weymouth. He was married 4 times, the first wife's name was Mary Riddle Blodgett, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Riddle) Blodgett. That must be where the Riddle name came from. Rebecca was born Sept. 19, 1823 in Randolph, Vt. and is only listed as dying before 1860. The first child of Daniel and Rebecca, Mary Rebecca, born July 22, 1844 in Randolph, VT. died Feb. 15, 1914 in Canada, burried in WI. Her third child was Daniel Weymouth, born Jan 30, 1870, married in Lewiston, MT to Ione Hoffman, they had 5 children: One child looks to be Dorothy, married to Don Wade, residing in Hollywood, CA, having two sons; then Elizabeth, Ruth, Grace and Daniel Weymouth Jr. You might check Montana, dates sound like he could be their son, he would have been the gr. grandson of Daniel Folsum Weymouth, but there is nothing further on him in the book, it seems if she (Ruth Ella) had any more information on him she would have written it.
I hope you are not confused by all of this. Daniel C. Weymouth is listed as the 4th child of Daniel Folsum and Mary Riddle Blodgett.

Cynthia was the 3rd child born about 1848, married Charles Burg, 3 children, Ernestine married Adelbert Alderson and had 3 children, Adelbert. Lawrence and Margaret; Charles Copeland; and Kitty. That is all she gives for information.

Hope this helps.
Sue

Weymouth Ancestry

Levi E. Weymouth of Portland Maine is my great great grandfather.

As a clarification to a note posted by Eugene Normand on July 2005:

Weymouth Street was not named after Levi E. Weymouth in Portland, Maine but for his grandfather Levi N. Weymouth who was the keeper of the alms house in Portland for over 20 years. Levi E. Weymouth was born in his grandfather's house on Parris Street.

Weymouth Street is situated where the former alms house in Portland used to be located. A written obituary at the time of Levi E. Weymouth's death confirms the above details and confirms the relationship to my grandmother Dorothy Zibiah Weymouth Normand and my mother Marie Normand Vaccaro.

There are many other facts detailed in this document which may be of interest to others researching Levi E. Weymouth or his ancestors. Please let me know if I can assist in your search.
