The 99th Annual Reunion of John Wharton and 1st wife Nancy Holtz and 2nd wife Anna McMillen will be held in Ashland Ohio at the Brookside Park West, Pavilion 1 on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. This is a potluck; please bring a dish and table setting. Drinks are provided. Any and All Wharton's and descendents are invited and welcome to attend!

John Wharton, 1789-1862 (son of Thomas Wharton and Susanna Dill), Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and Nancy Holtz Wharton (1795-1830) and 4 children came to Ohio between 1824 and 1829. Shortly after settling near Ashland, Nancy Wharton, the first wife, died. After the death of Nancy, John Wharton married Anna McMillen (1814-1900). Twelve children were born to this marriage. Many of the older members of the Wharton family are buried in the old cemetery at Olivesburg in Richland county Ohio. A large number of Whartons are buried in the Ashland City Cemetery. The children of John and Nancy Holtz were: James, Mary, Melinda, and John Jr. The children of John and Anna McMillen were: Sarah, Susanna, Thomas, Robert, Alvina Jane, Martha, Hulbert, Minerva Ann, Benjamin Franklin, and Clara Bell. Son Henry and a daughter died in infancy.
