Surnames: Whatley, Hobbs, Dayton
According to existing letters, Phineas, William W., and possibly Samuel, had a Native American mother. She was either Choctaw, Chickasaw, or Cherokee. When William W. and Phineas went to LA in the late 1790s to 1806, they could talk w/Choctaw in Catahoula Parish.
Don't know what her name was, only some suggestions, or who fathered the boys for sure. Most records suggest it was old William, and not Wilson.
Both died at Cherokee Corner. William aready had a large family and wife, so I doubt it was him who fathered 1/2 Indian children. Can't find the facts!
