James Wheat of Florida, born 1930s

Hi there, I'm trying to find information on my paternal grandfather.

Everything I know about him:

-In 1954, he lived in Miami, Florida.
-He was probably of Irish descent.
-He was likely born somewhere between 1934 and 1938.
-There's a possibility that he married my grandmother (maiden name Sandra Black) in 1953-1954, although they weren't married long if at all.
-My dad's birth certificate reads Glenn Parke Wheat and he was born Jan 8, 1954.

No idea what happened to him after 1954, and have very few paternal family members to consult.

Anyone have any info on James Wheat or anyone who could be related to him?

Thanks.

Re: John Wheat of Adair County, Kentucky

My Wheat family line is from Roane County, TN, however in the earlier years of my research I had followed a Wheat line to Adair County, KY. The two families are not related as far as I have researched the two famiilies. First on a John Wheat, there have been several entries of a John Wheat in many counties in VA of which I can not connect to a single individual. Before 1820 a large family of Wheats migrated from VA and settled in Adair County. A 1820 census copy I have shows:
Wheat, Baste
John
Joseph
Oathy
in Adair with a John Wheat in Green County. In the 1840 census a John Wheat and a Levi Wheat were in Russell County while the other John Wheat was still in Green County. I have a family printout of a John L. Wheat that was born about 1810 (KY) and died in Russell County 1890, his wife was a Martha Phelps who was born in Guilford, NC A 1850 census printout shows none John Wheat, however there are several Wheats listed along with a Martha Wheat age 65 and born in VA.
The John L Wheat family copy came fro two different sources and the printout is the same. They are a John R White and a Marilyn Phelps.

The best authority I know of at this time is an Eli Wheat whose last address I had was ew712ia@aol.com . He is from the Wheat line in Adair. Lots of luck.

Does anyone have any information of John Wheat, b. 1782, Loudon, Va. d, 1846 Adair, Ky. Does anyone know who his father would be. His wife was Martha MNU. Children; Samuel Baker Wheat, and others. Other researchers mention him but I can find no factual information..
Re: John William Wheat of TX and OK

I have found some additional information that may help with this query:
John William Wheat, according to later censuses in Texas and Oklahoma, lived with a younger brother named Thomas J. Thomas would not have been on the 1880 Collin Co., TX, census because he wasn't born yet. I got a copy of Thomas's death certificate from the state of OK, and he lists his father as "Joe" Wheat, so apparently the "J." Wheat, the father on the 1880 Collin Co. census was a "Joseph" or "Josiah." According to the 1880 census, his father was born in Arkansas and mother in Mississippi.
The only Joseph Wheat of the right age that I have found is the son of Henry and Carline Wheat. However, Henry was born in Alabama, although Carline was born in Mississippi.
If this is the correct Joseph Wheat it means that I am descended from three daughters of Elizabeth Whitley and Robert Stevenson (Stinson)--Cynthia (who married Samuel Wheat), Susannah (who married Thomas Ming) and Esther (Easter) who married William Wheat.
Anybody have any light to share?

The surname WHEAT does not appear in Loudoun around the mid-1800's. No WHEAT appears on the 1758-1781 Loudoun Co. Tithables lists by the Sparacios, nor the 1782-1825 Loudoun Co. Personal Property Tax Lists. There is no recording in the court of any male WHEAT marriage until the 1850's.

It does not appear that placing any of the people listed in Loudoun would be correct.

Pat Duncan
GenNutLdn@msn.com
Re: clara bromage ball

Searching English censuses and General Register Office births, marriages and deaths indexes, I found the following. Harry Ball and Clara Bromage married in the December quarter of 1904 at Leicester. Harry was born in the December quarter of 1874 at Newbold Verdon (8 miles west of Leicester) to William, a butcher, and his wife Hannah and had moved to Leicester to work in the shoe industry. Clara was born around 1884, but records of her birth and birth place have not been found. In 1911, Harry and Clara were living at Edward Road, Clarendon Park Leicester with their son William Henry aged 5 months. Also with them was William W. Wheat, a boarder and unmarried. William was born in the December quarter of 1878 at Wigston (5 miles south of Leicester) where his forebears had lived for over 100 years. He too had moved to Leicester to work in the shoe industry. Ronald S. Wheat was born to Carla in Leicester in the June quarter of 1913. The death of Harry Ball and marriage of William Wheat between 1911 and 1913 do not appear in the indexes.
Ken Wheat, Solihull, England.
Re: clara bromage ball

The entry for Clara in the 1911 census showed she was aged 26 (i.e. born 1884/5) and her birthplace was “not known”. Revisiting the General Register Office birth indexes for a similar name born around that time, there are just three possibilities – Clara Brommage, born in Sheffield Yorkshire in Sept quarter 1881, Clara Bromage, born Salford Lancashire in Sept quarter 1882 and Clara Bromwich, born Daventry Northamptonshire in Dec quarter 1884. The first two are unlikely contenders. Clara Brommage remained in Sheffield, according to the 1891 census, possibly marrying before the 1901 census. Clara Bromage remained with her family in Salford through to 1911. However, the third Clara is much more a possibility. She was the second child of John Bromwich, an agricultural labourer, and his wife Lucy, a corset maker. The family lived in Northamptonshire until around 1888 when they moved to Welton Leicestershire, some five miles south of Blaby, where the Ball family were living in 1891. In 1901, the family, now recorded as Bromage, was living in Newbold Verdon (where Harry Ball was born) though Clara was not at home. (Possibly, she was a kitchenmaid in London under the name of Brompton.) By then, Harry was boarding in Knighton Leicester, less than a mile from where he and Clara lived in 1911.

Hi,
If you have any further information about your Vances, I'd be really grateful.

Hi,

I do apologise if I've already emailed you about this; I'm beginning to lose track of where I've got to in my list of people to contact, who have members of the Vance family among their genealogical data.

I'm collating the English, Scottish, Irish, American and other overseas Vances in the hope of finally sorting out the connection between them and my family of Vans of Barnbarroch.
My aim is to collect every (!) recorded Vance family and try to piece together the entire picture, using all the available sources and taking into account the genetic data.

Having all the available information may help in eventually finding some of the earlier generations in Ireland and Scotland, particularly if we can find some male Vances; if we can persuade any male descendants from your line to get a DNA test, we shall at least know which branch of the Vances yours is.

Best wishes,

Jamie.
email jvans@dsl.pipex.com
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~vfarch.

Hi

I see that this is an old post. You said you have more information regarding some of the people connected to the Wheat family. My great-grandmother was Dora King who was married to Horace Wheat. They also had a child that died as an infant. He died about a year after they were married. I'm trying to find out more information about my great-grandmother. Do you have any?

Thank you
Susan
My grandfather is Wolton Wheat (aka Tom) and he is a preacher out at the Crossroads and lives in Henleyfield. Many of my Wheat relatives live in that area. I'm also interested in knowing more about my ancestors on the Wheat side. Love to hear anything you find out.

There is a gentalman by the name of Horace Wheat who lives about 20 mins outside of Poplarville in a little community named Crossroads. He has done extensive research into the Wheat Family. I feel very confident that he would be able to help you. You can call information or look the phone number to his business, Wheat's Roofing and Building Supply. I don't think he actually works anymore, but I'm sure they will take a message from you. There are two locations for his business. You may actually want to call the Crossroads, MS location first. Crossroads is where I grew up and the where the largest number of Wheats in Pearl River Co live these days. If you cant get through to him, I will grab the family book when I go back to my parents home. Not sure when that will be with the hurricane that's brewing out in the gulf but...
