Classification: Query
Surnames: WHEATLEY, METCALFE, METCALF, FOSTER
My great aunt's mystery husband, AJ WHEATLEY (Alfred Joseph, I think), later married a woman named FOSTER (possibly with the married name of METCALF or METCALFE) in South Africa, after the First World War.
She had at least one child that AJ WHEATLEY adopted, and they later had at least one child of their own.
AJ WHEATLEY served in the East African and South African Rebellion theatres of war, initially as a corporal in the African Mounted Rifles, then as a Lieutenant in the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry).
I would be very interested in finding more about him, and his extended family.
Thanks.
John
