Has anyone found a connection between these two families? It is my understanding that they both arrived in the US around the same time.

I'm looking for information regarding Tabatha/Tabitha Wheaton, wife of Benjamin Fuller. They married in 1709 in Rehoboth, MA, removed to Lebanon, CT, where she apparently died in 1737.

I am especially interested in proving her parentage. She is reported to be the daughter of Jeremiah Wheaton and Hannah/Joanna Amidon of Rehoboth, MA. I have seen a birth year of 1687 for her but I have been unable to prove her birth year/place and parents.

Any information regarding this request would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, my name is Sheri & I'm trying to locate my family history. I have very little information. My grandfather's name was William Wheaton & he came to Canada from England. I do not have his date of birth. My grandmother's name was Elsie (maiden not known). To my knowledge they had 4 children (Charles, Nancy, Darlene & Sheila). Sheila was my mother who passed away Oct 28, 1974. I have not had contact with anyone since approx 1977. The last I knew my grandparent's lived in Toronto Ontario Canada. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. I do not have the children of Seth Wheaton, and Elmira Druscilla (nee Pendleton) Wheaton, BUT, this Seth was a brother to my 2x great gramma Augusta A. Wheaton who married Samuel Theall in St. John, / Carleton, NB, Canada.

So it appears we are related. Augusta & Samuel were my 2x great-grandparents. I do not have further information, but if I were you, I would check in New Brunswick / Carleton or Kings County records, in new brunswick.

Augusta (nee Wheaton) and Samuel Theall were married 1859 in St. John,Carleton, NB, Canada.

I'm trying to figure out our Wheaton line also, and
your Seth bro to my Augusta's parents were Seth Wheaton, Sr. and Sarah Sears Ketcham. Seth Sr's father was Ephriam, a Loyalist from CT or NY to NB Canada.

Ephriam was married 3x. His 2nd wife is unknown, but is our direct line.

H N Wheaton of Rhode Island and Lowndes, MS

In the 1860 census of Lowndes County, Mississippi, there is:
H N Wheaton Lowndes, MS 30 abt 1830 Rhode Island Male
Georgia Wheaton Lowndes, MS 20 abt 1840 Georgia Female
Cora Wheaton Lowndes, MS 1 abt 1859 Miss Female
Infant Wheaton Lowndes, MS 3.12 abt 1860 Miss Female

His wife is Georgia Boggs. Georgia is listed with just her two daughters in 1870 which suggests that H N Wheaton is dead, possible in the Civil War.

My hunch is that H N is the son Nathan Miller Wheaton/Content Brayton Maxwell and grandson of Charles Wheaton/Abigail Miller. The 1830 census shows him with two sons. One is 10-15 and appears to be Elbridge Gerry Wheaton born in 1816. The second son is listed as under 5.

Any information on H N Wheaton would be appreciated.

They both lived in Claiborne Parish, LA and Hempstead County, AR during different periods of their lives. THOMAS or WHEATON in Leith, Edinburgh WWI era

I have just found out that an uncle - Albert THOMAS from Australia - was married to a Mrs M. THOMAS who returned to Leith, Scotland, and whose address at that time was c/o Mr Wheaton, 16 Sandport Street, Leith. I am wondering if she was this man`s daughter.

Hi, I can't believe I found a possible relative. I have been looking for years. Since my mother died, no more info.
My grandfather, was Benjamin Franklin Wheaton. I have pictures from him in the Spanish American War. He was born around 1875 give or take in Mercer County. He died around 1935, when my mom was a little girl. He died in Charleston West Virginia after losing everything during the depression. I was always told that his mother, died in childbirth and his father remarried. But, that could be his grandparents. I would love any info you have on the family. I have many great photos that I can scan. Our whole family is quite blond and green eyed. They say they use to call him pinkie, because when he got mad he turned real pink. Look forward for more info.

This is not my family but I found this while searching for my Wheatons. I have no further info and I hope this helps someone!

"Jackson - Dr. Thomas Jefferson Wheaton, one of Wilkes-Barre's oldest physicians and a native this county, died on Jan. 2nd. Deceased was the 9th child of a family of 14 born to Moses and Sarah (Ballon) Wheaton, who were residents of Jackson. He attended the district school of that place and the Harford Academy and later studied medicine with his brother, Dr. W. W. Wheaton, also taking the lectures at the Eclectic Medical College at Rochester, N.Y. He practiced medicine from 1849 to 1858 in Bradford and Susquehanna counties and Binghamton. During the Civil War he was on the iron clad monitor 'Dictator', and upon its conclusion took up the practice of dentistry in Binghamton and in 1873 in Wilkes-Barre, and then retired from active business. He is descended from Robert Wheaton who came from England to this county in 1636 and joined the colony of planters at Salem, Mass."

She died Aug 1976 Independence, MO. and cannot find him or his parents names.

I have a letter to Theodore Wheaton from a John F. Wheaton dated March 15, 1866 posted Barnesville Ohio.

John apparently has brothers William and Charley. They would all have been Civil War Vets. I am thinking they are sons of Mathias and Nancy Wheaton...

I also am researching Wheatons in Ohio. Monroe and Belmont counties to be specific. My Wheaton family moved on to Wisconsin following the Civil War. William and Mary Wheaton are as far back as I can go...they both indicate they were born in PA 1805/09.

I have a transcribed letter from John F. Wheaton (F for Freeman I am assuming)to his cousin Theodore Wheaton, after the family moved to Wisconsin. The letter is posted Barnesville Ohio, March 15, 1866. Some of the high points are:

He indicates he got home (Civil War?) on the 24th of June.
He indicates William's (possibly his brother) wife died shortly after their return.
John has been married two months.
Charley (another brother?) is "swinging the girls on all sides", so he must still be single.
Asked that Theodore tell his mother that "old Peter Mann died the other other day."

I think this John F. Wheaton possible went by Freeman. Census records indicate a Mathias Wheaton was in Belmont Co. Ohio. (b. 1804 PA) with son's Charlie and Freeman. Mathias was married to a Nancy.

Anyone have any insight????? Some records indicate that my William Wheaton was a son of Joseph Wheaton who also migrated to Wisconsin (Richland County) but birthdates make it more likely that they are brothers.

ADDISON — Tressa “Louise” Wheaton, age 93, of Addison, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Foote Hospital in Jackson.
She was born on March 6, 1914, in Battle Creek to Leslie and Edna O. (Jones) Steveson. She married LaVere E. Wheaton on Sept. 14, 1935, in Brooklyn, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1987.
Louise lived her early life in Rollin, and then lived in the Addison area for many years. She was employed as a cook at the former Willow Lake Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, loved to play cards and bingo, and enjoyed square dancing.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Willis) Sax of Lodi, Ohio, Marjean (Gary) Fish of Delphos, Ohio, and Norma (Thomas) Heator of Addison; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Stone of Englewood, Florida; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVere; one son, William,and daughter-in-law Carol; two brothers, Harold Steveson and Herbert Steveson; and two sisters, Nettie Phipps and Martha Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Drew Woods officiating. I have an original cabinet card photograph of “Kate and Mary Wheaton”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Jackson (Jackson Co.) MI in about 1895.

I found “Katy” and Mary Wheaton, sisters, in the 1880 census for Grass Lake (Jackson Co.) MI – and Katy was 3, while Mary was age 2, daughters of Joseph and Fannie Wheaton. In the 1900 census for same location, Mary’s date of birth was given as January, 1879, but Kate was no longer living in the home.

I have two original studio photographs of this family, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members.

One photo is of the Frank Lewis Wheaton & Adah G. Wheaton family, with children Carl, Pansey, Watie and Mina”. Photo is a Cabinet Card and was taken in about 1899-1900. Frank looks about 35, Adah about 30, and Carl about 9-10, Pansy about 7, Watie about 4-5 and Mina about 18 mo.

The other photo is of “Adah Gould Wheaton Olmstead”, who looks to be about age 60 to 70. This was taken by the Leigh’s Portrait Studio, but no town is listed.

I found the Wheaton family in the 1900 census for Wakeshma (Kalamazoo Co.) MI. Frank’s DOB Dec 1865 MI; Adah Aug 1872 MI; Carl Mar 1891; Pansy Jul 1893; Waity Aug 1895; and Mina Sept 1897.

I am the M. Griffin you spoke about in your post. My Father was Harry R Wheaton and I knew your father when the family called him "Little Johnny" so as not to confuse him with his uncle John E. Wheaton. We all lived fairly close to everyone on PA. I lost track of cousins when we grew up and scattered. I just saw Your twin aunts (Merrell and Berle) a few years back. Merrells husband Joe died reciently.

I have an Ephriam Wheaton born about 1760ish in Connecticut, then when the Loyalists to Canada left so that they would not be in the Rev War, Ephriam went to Canada.
He married 3x, but I only have names of 2 wives.

His father was William Wheaton who died in New York at about 40 or so years of age while fighting in the Rev. War, and he is buried on Long Island, prob. Oyster Bay, unsure.

Does this Wheaton sound familiar? I can not seem to go back any further on my Wheaton line.

I have been searching for my fathers family. No one seems to know anything about them. I have finally found what would have been my great-grandparents. But after reading this post I just had to reply. My dad's dad also died from chronic alcoholism. Louis(Lewis)'Spot'Wheaton born 1907 or 1906. I also found it a coincidence that John M. Wheaton died on the 25th of Jan., that is my dad's birthday, only 1937.

John M. Wheaton/Iowa/Age 52 in 1998/Search for family

Searching for next of kin for John M. Wheaton, died in 1998 and recently identified. Please help find his family! Below is the following article about Mr. Wheaton's recent identification and a bit of his past history.

A man found dead on the steps of a San Diego mental
health clinic 10 years ago has been identified as an
Iowa native.

Now, authorities in California are looking for his
family.

Ten years after being labeled a John Doe, John M.
Wheaton, 52, was identified by investigators with the
San Diego County medical examiner's office using a new
fingerprint database.

Wheaton was found slumped over on the steps of the
Meeting Place Inc. on Jan. 25, 1998.

Police listed his cause of death as an internal
hemorrhage that resulted from chronic alcoholism.

Police initially had a hard time identifying Wheaton
because he apparently was living under a false
identity. Wheaton held a 1993 voter registration card
with another man's name, address and Social Security
number on it, according to a San Diego police report
from the time.

Police found a book of phone numbers with Wheaton, but
all of the numbers were disconnected or incorrect or
weren't answered.

The last record of Wheaton before his death was
created when he signed himself out of the University
of California-San Diego hospital on Jan. 24, 1998,
under his other identity, according to the report. He
had been suffering from internal bleeding and left
against medical advice.

Wheaton was eventually labeled a John Doe.

A Des Moines native, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in
August 1967 while living in Des Moines, according to
the San Diego County medical examiner's office.

The records from his military service were apparently
destroyed in a fire, according to the police report.

Pete Ward, a friend listed in the 1998 police report,
told investigators that he didn't know why Wheaton was
using an alias, according to the report.

Ward said Wheaton was from Iowa, had two deceased
children and was divorced. He said Wheaton's ex-wife's

Ignore previous guess about Daniel's parents. FamilySearch has David Wheaten b 1821 Holme Ohio marr Margaret Pickins 1846 Davis Co Iowa:
Son of Oren Wheaton.
IGI record but not extracted so not necessarily reliable. Previous guess (Anson) was married early enough to have had Daniel/David but he is not shown in a long list of children.

Here is a bit of speculation:
In 1880, Daniel Wheaton was in Ottumwa, Davis, Iowa, with his wife Mary.
He said his father was born in Vermont and his mother in Virginia.
Daniel was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, according to Daniel's Civil War papers.
In 1850 we find in Holmes Co., Ohio:
Anson Wheaton, age 64, painter, born in Vermont
Rebecca Wheaton, age 50, b in virginia
4 children ages 10 to 18.

Could these be Daniel's parents and siblings?
