Margaret, You have the same information that I do. I also have Lorene's book. She is my 4th cousin. I have searched for a long time and am coming up with the same answers that you have come up with. I wish I could get Lorene to expand on it but she says it is all in the book. I have tried to find where a Wigglesworth comes into the family with no results. It is such an unual name.

I have brought the Bond part of the book up to date and that is quite a job. I am more that willing to share information with you though. Write me at ptblcook@aol.com

Also if you want a copy of the book I can give it to you I have it on my computer and Lorene has given her permission to give it out.

Lavania - I was so excited to find your post. A friend of mine is descended from Eliphalet Wheeler.

Looking at various websites, it appears that Eliphalet was the son of Edward W. However, yesterday I was at the library and found a genealogy titled: "Bond-Wheeler Genealogy with Related Families" by Lorene Bond Prewitt, which was written in 1972. In it, she quoted a letter from Francis Wheeler which states that his father was Eliphalet and his grandfather was Enos.

But that doesn't make sense to me, as Edward W. & Eliphalet were in Morgan Co. in 1830 & 1840 and there is no Enos to be found. *Perhaps* the author quoted the letter wrong. We know that Enos was Edward W.'s father. On the other hand, Enos did also have a son named Enos. *Maybe* Edward W. was Eliphalet's uncle.

Eliphalet was supposedly born in Bath or Canaan, ME. The library I was at did not have any vital records for those towns.

Do you know if Edward W. had a will?

Margaret

Thanks for the interesting information. (And with an impaired arm) I think I can help you with Catherine. Tehre is a Catherine Wheeler with Charles in Washington Territory in the 1850s:

1860 Census Thurston Co.

1860 - Chas Wheeler
Name:	Chas Wheeler
Age in 1860:	28
Birth Year:	abt 1832
Birthplace:	Kentucky
Home in 1860:	Thurston, Washington
Race:	White
Gender:	Male
Post Office:	Olympia
Value of real estate:	View image
Household Members:	Name	Age
Chas Wheeler 28
Maria Wheeler 26
Samantha Wheeler 6
G W Wheeler 3
Catharine Wheeler 1
Catharine Wheeler 50

The ages are a bit off, but it has to be them. Part of the problem is summarized in the following passage I wrote about Charles:

The movie Pride of St. Louis, a biopic of Dizzy Dean, the ace St. Louis pitcher, contains a running gag in which Dean recites short rhymes which reveal his date and place of birth. Each rhyme was different. Charles Wheeler appears to have committed a similar prank decades earlier. Charles Wheeler was from Kentucky, recorded a hapless census taker. A decade later, Charles said Illinois. His Donation land claim made him an Indiana native. The 1871 Washington Territorial census (a census in which he appears in two different locations) revealed he was a son of “Missuri.” He is an elusive fellow and difficult to document.

Off to make use of your information.

Thanks,

More later.

Ed Bergh

Great to hear from you. I have been researching the WHEELERS for several years. I have discovered additional information that has not been added to ANcestry. charles is the brother of WM. HENRY HARRISON. HE ALSO HAD A BROTHER NAMED JAMES PERRY. 1850 census; JERUSHA Is HARRISON'S second wife. SAMUEL, JAMES, ROBERT are children of Harrison's first wife. BENJAMIN AND LUCINDA AND LATER PERRY ARE ChILDREN OF HARRISON AND JERUSHA. YES, EMILY SMITH BECAME HARRISON'S THIRD AND LAST WIFE. They had children. William SMITH is Emily's brother. The mystery person is Catherine WHEELER. THERE ARE TWO CATHERINE wheelers LIVING IN Jasper Co, Il. so far I haven't found the correct connections to identify her. I believe that HARRISON's FATHER was JAMES WHEELER 91840 CEnsus. SORRY about the typing, but I broke my arm today and I'm trying to do this with one hand.
I'M excited to hear from you and we musy stay in touch with ant new discoveries we find. donna dodson.

Hello,

I came across your posting from several years ago related to William Henry Harrison Wheeler. I am researching Charles
Wheeler who I think might be his brother. I believe Harrison was living with Charles in iowa in 1850.

Charles Wheeler 25 (1825) KY
Horrison Wheeler 30 (1820) KY
Jeresha Wheeler 24 (1826)wife
Samuel Wheeler 15 (1835) child
James Wheeler 13 (1837)child
Robert Wheeler 10 (1840)child
Lucinda Wheeler 3 (1847)child
William Smith 18 (brother in law?)
Emily Smith 16 (sister in law and future wife)
Catherine Wheelen 50

Have you found information regarding Harrison's siblings or his father's name? Thanks

Ed Bergh

George Washington W, Samuel Davis W, Thomas H W -- Brothers?

It has been conjectured by Barbara Gabe (see postings on GenForum) that the following three individuals, all born in Virginia, are brothers and further are sons of Robert Wheeler (b 1749) and Nancy Davis:

George Washington Wheeler b 1807
Samuel Davis Wheeler b 1810
Thomas Henry Wheeler b 1812

Evidence for this includes census records and the fact that all lived for a time in adjacent Ohio counties. Also GWW and SDW married Mathews sisters.

There is a growing body of Y-Chromosome DNA data on the Wheeler Surname. Family Tree DNA has a 45 tested individuals (www.familytreedna.com/public/wheeler). The Sorenson Molecular Genetics Foundation has ten (www.smgf.org).

If direct male descendants of each of the three ‘brothers’ can be found and each consents to a Y-Chromosome DNA test, there would be additional evidence to support or disprove this conjecture.

I would welcome any comments, suggestions, or volunteers for testing from suitable Wheeler descendants.

Franz Schneider
I am not related, but I did have this in my shoe box for possible wheelers of my wheeler line but no connection yet. You might want this.

I have a census that list Lola and her mother, father, brothers and sisters in 1915

Sherman, Ottawa County Kansas 1915 Census

Wm Wheeler age 38 born in Ks
Ida Wheeler age 41 born in Ohio
Lizzie Wheeler age 15 born in Ks
Elma Wheeler age 13 born in Ks
Hazel wheeler age 7 born in Ks
Lola Wheeler age 5 born in Ks
Neva Wheeler age 3 born in Ks
Wilber Wheeler age 9 mths born in Ks

Chapman, Clay County Ks 1900 Census

William F Wheeler
Age 23 born in Ks on March 1877
Fathers birth place England
Mothers birth place England
Spouse Ida May
Years married 2
Marriage year 1898

Ida May Wheeler
Age 25 born in Ohio on Oct 1874
Fathers birth place New Jersey
Mothers birthplace New Jersey
Marriage year 1898

Elizabeth (Lizzie) May Wheeler
Age 6 and 1/2 months old born Nov 1899
Born in Ks
Father Ks
Mother Ohio

Note: There is another William Wheeler in the same town with the same birth year but he has no children listed as Lola and his wife was named Mary. Do not get this Wm and Mary confused with the next ones because they are not the same either they are decades apart and different family all together. Do not get them confused they are not the same family....Also I would guess that he met Ida in Kansas prob Clay County, you should find their marriage record there for his family went straight from England to Ks and he never left meaning she had to have either moved to Clay county to meet him or visited there, but I would guess its is such a long way from Ohio that her parents are there too, you should be able to search for her by birth year and all the children with same data in both in Ks and Ohio and come to the correct conclusion.

1880 Union, Clay County Ks Census

Geo William Wheeler age 39 born in England
Father listed as born in England
Mother listed as born in England
Mary A Wheeler age 39 born in England
Father born in England
Mother born in England
Geo William Wheeler age 13 born in England
Elizabeth Wheeler age 9 born in Kansas
Annie Wheeler age 6 born in Kansas
William Wheeler age 3 born in Kansas

The 1930 Census for Minneapolis, Ottawa Kansas

Mosway J Stout age 29 born in Ks
Lola Stout (Wheeler) age 20 born in Ks
Dorthy L. Stout born 1929 listed her as 11 of 12 moths old
She would be first child.

Now on your Stout side Mosway lived with his parents until he married Lola they met and married in Ks.

Mosway's Father and mother are below, I do not feel like typing the whole Census so I will just tell you the information

Both the 1910 and 1925 Blain, Ottawa County Ks Census's

listed as
J.M. Stout the other as John M. Stout
b 1840 in Pennsylvania
Father and mother listed on both as born in England
Lillie Stout the other Lillie I Stout
b. 1856 in Pennsylvania
Father and mother both born in Pennsylvania
Children listed in 1910 Census are below
M. Elray b. 1880
Celia P. b. 1883
John M. b. 1886
Mosway b.1887
Charlie Lucas 1889 or 1887 either twin to Mosway or they are not sure what the date actualy was on old record, Also they transposed the 8 with 9 on the childrens birth years for clearly if you take 11 years old from 1910 you have 1889 and they listed 1889 they did this with all the kids making it seem they were all 10 years younger on this particular Census 1925 one, remember this important so as you do not think its wrong family....It is not.

I am sure this is your family line, I would say 100% You would have to get immigration ship records to get Geo and Mary's place of birth and sometimes it lists the parents name, as well yours will have the first child born in England (Geo William Wheeler Jr.) listed as well so you will know when you have the rite ones. You will have to look for the Stouts also in PA and England.

Take care, I am about to do some English research soon as well too for I have a similar situation on my family, make sure you get the correct Provence before you start looking in England, the immigration information is very important and helpfully.

Tammy

I am so sorry to report that none of those names are familiar. I didn't get interested inmy Wheeler family until they were all gone. I guess that I am the last one. I had four Wheeler cousins here in California, but havent heardanything about them. My uncle Ken and their mother divorced when they were small. I saw them maybe twice. I did hear that there was a Native American connection, but have nothing to go on at this point. My Wheelers were from Grundy Co., Missouri. lived around Woodward, Dewey, Vici, Harmon. Came to CA in the 1920s

I am trying to find the family of John Franklin and Rachel Richardson Franklin who lived and died in Honeoye, New York. Rachel's birth calculated from cemetery records is 24 may 1788. John Franklin died in Ontario, New York about 1826. Their children: Daniel Franklin b. 1811, PA, Samuel B. Franklin b. 1812, PA, William Franklin b. Mar 1815, PA, Elizabeth Franklin b. Apr 1819, PA md. Harvey Short, Benjamin Franklin b. 11 Apr 1820, PA, died Moscow Hillsdale, Michigan, James D. Fanklin b. 1821, PA, md. Mary Stanley, last known residence, Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, John Franklin, Alfred Franklin b. 9 Jan 1825, New York, and Mariah Franklin.
I think John and Rachel may be from Bucks County, PA. but I need further proof.

Joseph Wheeler, said to be b. abt. 1729, Chesterfield, NH.

I am looking for anyone who can expand upon or corroborate any detail of the account of Joseph Wheeler given below. My real interest is in Hannah Wheeler, parents unknown, wife of Aaron Farr, who bore him 5 children at Chesterfield, bet. 1773 & 1782. She would have been born in the same years as the children of Joseph Wheeler and was perhaps (but by no means certainly) among his children.

Joseph Wheeler is discussed in History of Chesterfield, Cheshire County, NH, by Oran Randall (1882), pp. 486:

"Joseph Wheeler, b. probably about 1729, was in Chfd. in 1770, having come, as is supposed, from some town in Mass., though, according to tradition, he was Scotch by birth, or of Scotch extraction. In 1772, he purchased of Sarah Emmons (q.v.) lot No. 12, in the 15th range, the same being a part of the farm afterwards owned and occupied successively by his grandson, Ashbel Wheeler, Sen., David W. Goodrich, and Eleazer Randall, Jr. He appears to have d. about 1805. He is known to have had, at least, 3 ch.: Benjamin (2), b. Oct. 22, 1756.—Susanna, m., 1777, Ephm. Wheeler (q.v.)—John (3), b. about 1768."

An index to New Hampshire births is now online at familysearch.org, but I do not find the 22 Oct. 1756 birth of Benjamin Wheeler listed there.

A Joseph Wheeler (perhaps this same man) was signatory to the 12 Jun. 1776 New Hampshire Association Test.

Sarah Wheeler, b. abt. 1765, widow of Revolutionary War pensioner Thomas Farr, stated in an affidavit made 01 Jan. 1839 in pursuit of her widow’s pension, that she was married 14 Mar. 1784 at the house of her father, Joseph Wheeler, in Chesterfield. If Randall’s account is accurate, this affidavit is consistent with Sarah Wheeler being a daughter of Joseph Wheeler, b. abt. 1729, whose known children were born during the same time period.
I am still working on this post. I have the 1850 census that shows them in Noble co. Ohio. I cannot seem to find Eliphalet's father, my researcher says that it is Enos Wheeler, and a letter written by one of Eliphalet's sons states that fact. I have been working on this one for several years and I may have to give up as it is a dam in front of me. Brick walls are something but dams are wrose.

Lavania

I am trying to find out how many children Edward Wigglesworth Wheeler had. I have read the trees and they each one have only one or two children and never a list of them. I have been told that he had a son named Eliphalet Wheeler, but I can not find him listed,

Edward married Julia? in 1802 she was born bet 1765 and 1788. unk where
Edward was born 19-7-1779 in Lincoln, Me.
They moved sometime to Morgan Co. Oh as he died there in 1848. His parents were Enos and Meribah Mary Gearfield. This is according to Rainville and associated families site. This site includes Elihu and Europe M. as children.
