Lois H. Grimmer, who married Geoffrey Manlius Wheelock, was the grand-daughter of Isabella Ellen Wheelock, so they were first cousins.
Her mother was Bessie Emily Gove, d/o Charles Morrrill Gove & Isabella Ellen Wheelock.

Julia Wheelock 1833--1900

Julia Wheelock lived in MIchigan when the Civil War started. She went to Washington DC to be a nurse there. She wrote a book about her experiences there in 1870. She was a Treasuty Department employee after the war. She moved back to Michigan and married Porter C. Freeman. They moved to Springfield, MO. Julia died in 1900 and is buried at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Does anyone know if Julia kept a diary (besides the Civil War diary) in her later years? Are any of her descendants still around? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks brian

Julia Wheelock married Porter C. Freeman and they moved to Springfield, Missouri. Julia and Porter are buried in Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Julia died in 1900 and Porter died in 1913. Do you know if any more diaries of Julia's exist other than her civil war diary? Any help would be appreciated. Brian in Springfield, MO

Dear Jerry: Julia in later years moved to Springfield, Missouri, with her husband, Porter C. Freeman. I have here obit if you want a copy of it. was born out of wedlock and took his mothers name "Martha C Wheelock" and she later became a jackson. if anyone has information on Samual martin Wheelock as in his real father please leave a post here.

Rick Sullivan's web site, http://www.wheelockgenealogy.com, has a Ruth Kelly, b. 8/11/1927, being married to a George Harry Wheelock b. 10/12/1908, on 9/26/1950.

May I ask a question? Does anyone know if there is a connection of the Kelley/Kelly family and Wheelock family? Am researching my Kelley/Kelly family. My Kelley/Kelly DNA incidcates a one (1) generation distance from a Wheelock.

born in Illinois, and his wife, Sylvia M.,
age 49, born in Illinois. Living in the same
household are the following people, all with
surname Wheelock: Lee, age 22, Mennie, age
22, Henrietta, age 2 and 9 months, Harry, age
1 and 3 months, Harry E, age 11, Maud E, age
8, and George L., age 5.

It seems likely this is the same George Wheelock; but I'm
not sure how to reconcile the census record with the statement that his mothers name was Myrtle (unless the M. in Sylvia M. Wheelock stands for Myrtle.) I don't know who are the parents of his father, Louis A. Wheelock (or Lewis
A. Wheelock).

Hello, I am new to ancestry and came across your post. In my short time researching my family. I have found some info.

My father was Robert Willard Wheelock and his mother and father were George and Della.

Another son George or Georgie (noticed on a census)who would be my uncle.

Fabius, Marion, Missouri

Father: George Wheelock 51 1879
Mother: Della Wheelock 49 1881

Son: Georgia Wheelock 16 1914
Son: James Wheelock 10 1920
Son: Robert W Wheelock 7 1923

Mortimer C. Wheelock died last night at his home, 807 North Third street, of cancer, aged 87 six months. He was a native of New York state and was a farmer there and in this valley. His wife survives him. The funeral service will be tomorrow afternoon, the service to be conducted by Morton L. Rose and interment to be at Tahoma cemetery.

David Perry Wheelock was a half brother to my GGrandmother Nellie Lydia Wheelock Tanner. They lived in Labette County Kansas. David Perry Wheelock was born in Chandlerville, Illinois, 18 Jan 1848; died 26 Jan 1909, Dennis, Kansas; married 8 Aug. 1870 at Chandlerville, Illinois to Laura Emma Hicks who was born in Chandlerville 28 Aug 1850; died 27 July 1889 at Timberhill Labette County, Kansas. I have some information on their children. I also have information on David's father and mother and his siblings.

For what it may be worth at this later date, I have found proof that the Thomas R. Wheelock who married Edith Clarke in Boston 15 May 1872 was the son of Welcome Wheelock and Mary Eliza Andrews of Nova Scotia. The information is contained in his Boston marriage record (MA 245:63) which indicates that he was born in Nova Scotia, was the son of Welcome and Mary Wheelock, and indicates that his residence was "China" at the time of his marriage to Edith Clarke.

I have Granville born 25 December 1818. Only have a son Llewllyn 1862 who married a Florence children Harvey 1898, Chester 1899 & Evertt 1907. Have you looked at Rick Sullivan's site? http://www.wheelockgenealogy.com/ You will find Granville's grandfather & GGrandfather's will there.Was Granville in the Civil War? If you get a chance to read Families of Cavendish V1 by Linda Welch it tells about the move to MI.

I have an uncle - great uncle, I think name(d) John Dalor (Dolar) who used to be Anson Wheelock. He was married to my aunt Lois in San Jose and had Billy. I'm 34 and he was a few years older than I was. I haven't seen Lois or Billy in years and years.

I do know Uncle John disappeared in the late 70's and was never heard from again. He was in business with my father Mike Gilliam, but the relation came through my mom, Jackie Coleman Gilliam (who's mother was Melva Wheelock and grandfather was Melvin Butler Wheelock).

Do you have any information about Orlando's sister Minnie Wheelock? I am trying to confirm that this is the person who married Wilbur Widel.

I am a researcher for the U.S. Army's Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) and have identified Minnie Wheelock as the mother of a soldier who was a POW in Korea. I am trying to locate female descendants of that family.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mary E. Wheelock with Nancy B. and Martin V. Guinn, 1880 KY

I've found Martin Guinn on the 1880 census in Barren Co. KY with his wife, Nancy B. age 28, and stepdaughter Mary E. "Whellock" age 15. If this info is correct and Nancy was Mary's mother she would only have been about 13 when she gave birth. Not impossible. It says that Nancy was born in TN and Mary was born in KY. Martin is from Fentress Co. TN and Clinton Co. KY. Does anyone know of a Nancy Wheelock who married Martin Guinn about, probably, 1879, 1880? Martin was married once before, and his first wife died, as far as I can tell, before July of 1879. (I found a book listing her funeral, but the circuit preacher usually preached a funeral when he got to town, regardless of when the death was). It's possible Martin and Nancy met in Clinton Co. They went to Barren Co. because Martin's brother was there.
Any info appreciated.

Thank you, I have been looking for the parents of Altazera Sophenia Wheelock's for years! She married John Martin and her first child was my grandmother. I know of 10 childen--but there were more. Carrie Edith born Feb. 23, 1888 in Lyle,WA & died Nov.1,1935 in Yakima, WA. Dick E. born 1894 A son, Benjamin died sliding down a cellar door.
Roy C. born 1901 in WAshington State died in Federal Way, WA
Mark R. born Oct. 7, 1903 died Feb. 18, 1965 Randle, WA
Henry L. born Aug.27(?)1907 died July 4,1990 WA.
Catherine R. born 1910 died 1997 Aberdeen, WA
