I see postings, copied several times, that Jabez lived in Henrico County. Could someone please enlighten me as to where this information comes from? Jabez lived first in Elizabeth City Co., later moved to James City County, where he became Burguess. I know of no record that puts him in Henrico... He was appointed to the Council in 1626 and is on the Council records until 1628. At that time he got in an argument about the tobacco business and left Virginia, with his young family... There were four William Whitakers in Va.; if one of them was a son of Jabez, he would have to have returned after he was grown; there is no record of this.
