Hi,
I have information on this John's ancestors, back to the 17th century. He was chistened at Easton on 3rd Nov. 1833. However, there has been a little confusion as to who he married. There is a baptism in the parish register of Easton of a Henry James Whitebread, son of John and Elizabeth Whitebread, 27 Dec 1857. However, no marriage can be found for a John and Elizabeth and there is no doubt that he married Sarah Atkins in 1855. Presumably there is an error in the parish register (but this needs checking, as I have not personally seen that register). This Henry James is presumably the James listed in the 1861, and subsequent, censuses as a son of John and Sarah. He is presumably the Henry J Whitbread who died at Winchester aged 79 in 1937.
