Rites Are Slated For R.G. Jarrell

Bim - Funeral services for Robert Glen Jarrell, 57, of Bim, Boone
County, will be held today in the Bim Free Will Baptist Church,

Burial will be in White Cemetery at Bim.

Jarrell was dead on arrival Thursday at a doctor's office in Gordon.
Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella; two daughters, Joyce Adkins and
Mrs. Phyllis Davis, both of Barrett; three sons, Ronald of Culloden,

Esther Mae Zontini

Esther Mae Zontini, 85, formerly of Boone County, passed away Nov.
21, 2004, in Jacksonville, Fla.

She was the daughter of the late Troy W. and Doskie Jarrell.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madison.

She is survived by a son and his wife, John Edward and Bobbie Jean
Zontini of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Paul Jarrell of Madison;
stepchildren, Rudy, Jane and Doug York of Jacksonville and Victor York
of Huntington; nephews and nieces, David and Karen Jarrell of Seth,
Danny Jarrell of Columbus, Ohio, Michael and Susan Jarrell of Madison,
Carol Jane and Buzzy Cameron of Comfort, Elaine and Ernie Burns and
Vicki and Ricky Stone, all of Madison.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Handley Funeral Home,
Danville, conducted by Father Jim O'Conner of St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Madison.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Madison.

HILLSBORO - Edward Lee Jarrell, 77, of Hillsboro, formerly of Comfort,
died June 24, 1997, in Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, Marlinton, after
a long illness.

He was a retired miner and a member of Peytona Southern Baptist
Church.

Surviving: wife, Judy Jarrell; daughter, Carol Cameron of Vermillion,
Ohio; brother, Paul of Madison; sister, Esther Mae Zontini of Comfort;
seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Service will be noon Friday at Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville, with
the Rev. David Cook and the Rev. Pat Garland officiating.

Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

HOUSTON, TX - Donn Edmund Jarrell, born May 25, 1930, in Madison,
died April 22, 2005, in the Heart Institute, Houston, TX, after a
long illness.

Donn’s childhood was spent in Gordon. He attended school in Berea,
KY, Van High School, and Greenbrier Military School in WV, Stetson
University, FL, Florida Southern University, FL. He received his
Master’s degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA.

He taught school for several years in Madison, then in the Delaware
school system before engaging in social work in the state of Delaware.
He was the director of the Day Care Center in the state of Maryland
for approximately 15 years before moving to San Antonio, TX. He worked
with the VA hospital for approximately 25 years before retiring in
1992.

Surviving: wife, Maria Guermina Jarrell; son, Donn R. (Renee A.)
Jarrell of Allentown, PA; stepchildren, Leonel, Julio (Kristen)
and Doris Rodriguez, all of San Antonio; sister, Avis J. Triplett of
Charleston, and twin sister Emily Ann (Joe) Sowers of Corpus Christi,
TX.

He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Iril Jarrell of Gordon.
He was also the grandson of the late M.L. Jones, founder of the Coal
Valley News.

He was buried at Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.

Boone Man Found Dead Under Home

Madison – A Boone County man was found dead under his house Saturday
from a possible heart attack or electrocution.

He was James F. Jarrell, 38, of Bim, who died sometime Friday.
Jarrell had complained of chest pains before going under his house to
check electrical wiring, according to reports of Dr. William Cooley.
When he was found, there was a burn on the back of his neck.

He was an employee of West Moreland Coal Co. and a veteran of World
War II.

He is survived by his widow, Betty; two daughters, Karon and Patsy at
home; two sons, Ernest and Timothy, at home; his mother, Mrs. Ader
Jarrell of Bim; one brother, Bennett, of Ramage; and one half-brother
Jodie Green of Greenwood.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Bim Freewill Baptist
Church. Burial will follow in Noah White cemetery.

Ronald “Ron” E. Jarrell, 67, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at
Pineville Community Hospital.

Born June 30, 1942, in Bim, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert
Glenn and Marcella Nellie Vickers Jarrell. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bruce Jarrell.

He was formerly employed as a plant superintendent for Apollo Fuels,
Middlesboro, Ky.

He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where he served as deacon
for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Jarrell of Middlesboro; sons, Tom
(Jeanet) Jarrell of Middlesboro and Todd Jarrell of Memphis, Tenn.;
granddaughters, Marika Jarrell of Bristol, Tenn., Taylor Jarrell of
Knoxville, Tenn., and Emma and Grace Jarrell of Virginia Beach, Va.;
sisters, Phyllis Davis of Charleston, W.Va., and Joyce (Bernard)
Adkins of South Charleston, W.Va.; brother, Norwood (Sue) Jarrell of
Cross Lanes, W.Va.; his special church family at Northside Baptist
Church; many special friends; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Shumate Funeral
Home Chapel, Middlesboro, with the Rev. Randy Phelps officiating.

Music will be provided by Star Phelps, the Lighthouse Singers, Hazel
Abbott, Marcia Abbott and Tommy Smith.

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Phelps, Josh Yeary, Jarod Sowders, Gerald
Branham, Josh Branham, Matthew Fox and Tyler Cox. Honorary pallbearers
will be the deacons of Northside Baptist Church, J.C. Crigger, Billy

apparent heart attack.

He was a U.S. postal carrier for 29 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glenn Jarrell of Bim.

Julia Jarrell, 89, of Madison died Jan. 8, 2008, at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Auldie Jarrell,
and her parents, James and Elizabeth Burton Hogge.

She was a homemaker and a Christian and was a member of Laurel City
Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Eugene and Julie of Fort
Wayne, Ind., and Richard and Doris of Point Pleasant; five grandsons
and their wives, Mark Eugene and Judy, David Duane and Karen, Richard
Leo and Carol, Ronald Lee and Amanda and Robert Lance and Pamela; and
12 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Justin, Malory, Joseph,

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Handley Funeral
Home, Danville, with the Rev. Orville Syner and the Rev. Terry Walker
officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
