NICHOLS, Iowa - James Earnest Whitehall, 67, Nichols, formerly of Aledo, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his home.
Burial will be at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, Ill., with military honors conducted by the Mercer County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1571.
Mr. Whitehall was born April 26, 1939, in Seaton, Ill., the son of Louis Allen Whitehall and Gladys Hood Whitehall. He married Billie Jane Massingill on Dec. 7, 1957, in Leesville, La.
He was a farmhand. He was also an U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association. He enjoyed coon hunting, landscaping, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Delsie Hammons and husband Richard of Columbus Junction, Debra Coleman and husband Bryan of Letts and Rita Peek and husband Randy of Fort Madison; four sons, Denzil Whitehall and wife Connie of Nichols, Duane Whitehall and wife Lonna and Darren Whitehall and wife Julie, all of Muscatine, and Daniel Whitehall of Iowa City; two sisters, Martha King and husband Wayne of Aledo and Dora Osborn and husband Kenneth of Bettendorf; a brother, Donald Whitehall of Aledo; a brother-in-law, Ralph Brewer of New Boston, Ill.; three stepbrothers, John, Christopher and Michael Whitehall; two stepsisters, Ellen and Suze Whitehall; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Della Whitehall; a sister, Cintra Verlee Brewer; a brother, Denzil Whitehall; and a sister-in-law, Colleen Whitehall
