My family is related to the DeBord family.

My great great great grandfather Francis Whited was married to Sarah DeBord and I believe one of his sisters or a cousin was married to a DeBord. Francis appears in a couple of census records as Whitehead, and later as Whited (he apparently changed his name).

We do not have a lot of information on Francis and cannot verify his siblings or parents. Do you have information on the DeBords or Whiteds that might interest me? I
am willing to share what I do have. It will take me a while to dig through my files if you are interested. Let me know.

I am not descended from Joshua and Elizabeth but my husband is a 3rd great-grandson of them. What I am trying to find is the "Proof" that Elizabeth Sloan, wife of Joshua Whitehead, is the daughter of Thomas and Barthena Brock Sloan/Slone.

Do you have any idea where I might acquire this proof? Any help will be appreciated.

Have you run across a Jasper Newton WHITEHEAD born in AL in 1838? This is my gg grandfather. He moved to Tippah Co, MS at some point and married Rebecca Jane VERNOR on 4 Dec 1859 in Tippah Co, MS. They had 14 children (I have their names and other info if it would help). According to a census record, Jasper's parents were both born in VA. I don't know who they were or when they moved to AL or if they also moved to MS. Lots of questions and not many answers! I've also seen his first name shown as John but I think Jasper is the correct first name. I checked in Lauderdale Co, AL some, because a number of people from there moved to Tippah Co, MS and there were WHITEHEADs in Lauderdale Co, AL. I've thought that possibly they were related to the Nathan WHITEHEAD family in VA (because Jasper's son Nathaniel) but so far, I haven't turned up anything. If anyone has any info or suggestions, I would appreciate hearing from you! Happy to share info!

You didn't provide rough date estimates to really narrow this down, but I think there may be a few leads for you:
Used www.ussearch.com typing in the names you gave, it returned some town names, appx. ages, and possible relatives that narrowed search down some. Try it if you are looking for some cousins, etc.

My suggestions for you:
Try searching for an obituary for E. Naomi Waters - try month of Dec. 1986 and perhaps a few days into Jan 1987. Try searching for a listing in a local/town paper as well as a the nearest major city paper(s).

Try searching for obituaries for
WHITEHEAD, Evie E. d Sep 30, 1989 prob. an Oct obit 1989
WHITEHEAD, Hollis W. d Nov 12, 1969 an Nov. obit
see if they list daughter as a survivor / or predeceased

Try to find Hollis in the 1930 Census - hopefully daughter would be listed with him in 1930.

If you can find a death certificate for E. Naomi Waters, her maiden name might be listed on it.

Look for marriage license for Mack and see if wife's maiden name is listed.

I'm not personally tracing the Whitehead family or Waters family, so I don't have any direct info for you, but the above could give some good starting points.

My great, great grandfather was Jasper Newton WHITEHEAD who, according to census records, was born in AL and his parents in VA. He was born 1838 and died after 1918, according to the info I have. He moved to Tippah Co, MS and married & raised a large family there. I further info on his wife, Rebecca Jane VERNOR, and their children if that would help. Have never been able to find his parents or what county in AL he was born in. Any help appreciated and I'm always willing to share info. Thanks!

My husband is a Whitehead.
His grandfather was Thurman Whitehead of Nashville, TN. He used to visit family in Muscle Shoals, AL when he worked for TVA.
His great-grandfather was William Henry Whitehead, he died in TN, not sure where he was born. We are not sure if his father was William Whitehead. Thinking maybe some of the family was from Alabama or lived there at one time. Would like any info if anyone has anything on the Whiteheads.

We have found 3 William H. Whitehead's.
One was born 1843 and his parents were Giles J. Whitehead and Margaret Smith. I believe he was born in Tennessee. Giles J's parents were born in North Carolina.
The second William H. Whitehead is my husband's great-grandfather, born in 1886 and died 1937. He married a Mary Brown in Putnam Co, TN in 1906.
The William Whitehead born in 1843 we could not find his wife. We found a census in 1900 where he was widowed, living with Giles J and Margaret. His son, William Whitehead was 14 (they called him Willie). He was listed on the census in that household also.

My daddy died on May 7th 1997 and i was between 5 to 7 years old when my grandfather passed away I dont remember him much, but he was married to Irene Tweed. Alfred Whitehead son of George Holmes Whitehead married Florence Mackson daughter of Henry Greenwood Mackson who was born in Leeds, but later moved to London. This information is from the London Metropolitan achives. Alfred and Florence married on the 28th June 1902.

This particular Lazarus Whitehead is my G-G-G-G-G-Grandfather on my father's mother's side.

Lazarus and Patsey had a son named John Whitehead.

John Whitehead married Rosanna Hampton and they had a daughter named Patsey Whitehead.

Patsey Whitehead married David Fouts and they had a daughter named Mary Jane Fouts.

Mary Jane Fouts married Nicholas Drewley Stanley and they had a daughter named Rebecca Ann Stanley.

Rebecca Ann Stanley married Benjamin Hewitt and they had a daughter named Sylvia Hewitt.

Sylvia Hewitt married Berton (Bert) Vanderbur and they had a son named Bert Willam Vanderbur.

Bert William Vanderbur married Aimee Grace Wood and they had me!

I have been doing genealogy research on my Vanderbur family line for a number of years now and am wanting to "branch out" and start documenting my other family sides.

I've spent some time reading through the Whitehead Message Board and Archives but am a bit lost as to which Whiteheads, et. al, I should be paying attention to.

I'm following my wife's Whitehead family, using some old family files and information. The Whiteheads on this post of 10 May 2003 make it clear this is the same family who were Posey Co, Indiana. I have it that they came from Nelson Co, Ky and before that from Virginia.

Arthur (as we knew him) was my cousin. He was a lot older than me and my memory of him was visiting my family who lived in Manchester. He was in army uniform at that time - before he went to the States.
I remember his mother, my Auntie Nessie, very well as my family stayed with her in Aberdeen on many occasions and she would visit us in Manchester. She came to my wedding in 1968.As a small child she would refer to me as the "wee loon" - which apparently is not as offensive as it sounds!
I have a number of photos of Arthur and family which may be of interest to you. You can probably access some them through this website. If not I would be pleased to email them to you.
I also have a photo of his son and daughter from his first marriage. I know the son was called Scott but I don't have the girls name. Again, I can send the photo if of interest. I also have an article from the Aberdeen newspaper reporting his death. It was very sad - he was so young.
I rely on my mother for a lot of detail but her memory is patchy as she is now 94 years old.
I am, of course connected to Arthur's maternal line,Agnes (Nessie) being a Duthie.

Said Great Grandmother married my Great Grandfather, Mack Leon Waters. All I know is that she is possibly Native American and her maiden name was 'Whitehead'. Need help with my Whitehead line please. My great grand fathers name was William Albert Whitehead, born in Childress, Childress, TX about 1888. He either met or married Minnie Lee Allen, born June 6, 1889 Ardmore, Carter, OK. They had a son named James Hershel Franklin Whitehead (My grandfather). According to James' military records, William died at the age of 35 in some kind of accident. James was born Feb 21, 1909 in Wichita Falls, Tx and died March 11, 1975 in Englewood, Colorado.
