JOHN DOUGLAS WHITESIDE, 69, of Memphis, retired mechinist for Southland Corp., died Saturday at his home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a charter member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. He leaves his wife, Ruth Mae Whiteside; three sons, Michael Douglas WHITESIDE, David Ronald WHITESIDE and Robert Arnold WHITESIDE, all of Memphis; his father, Ellis E. Whiteside of New Albany, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Gilbert of Arcadia, Fla., Mrs. Mary Snipes of Olive Branch, Miss., and Mrs. Donnie Gordon of Memphis; four brothers, James WHITESIDE, Edward WHITESIDE and Jimmy WHITESIDE, all of New Albany, and Thomas WHITESIDE of Memphis, and seven grandchildren. The family requests any memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.
