I am researching variations on Whiteway in Liverpool, as I have a possible ancestor.
The only useful lead I have found so far was on the IGI; John Thomas married Love Whiteaway 24.12.1830, St. Nicholas, Liverpool. They had 5 children, one of whom was Bridget Thomas b. 1833 and chr. twice; Dec 1833 and Jan 1834, in two different churches.
My gt gt grandmother was also a Bridget Thomas b. 1833 in Liverpool, and from her marriage cert. her father is named as John Thomas, Fishmonger. The above is the only candidate for her so far.
I now have a birth cert. for another daughter of John & Love, her maiden name is given now as Whitaway, and his occupation is Waterman. This is in 1846 and they are now living in Blackburn. The daughter is Susanna.
I also found, on the FHO site, a reference to a Thomas Whiteaway of Liverpool who was a Fisherman - he married Elizabeth Whitfield, spinster, at St Peters, Church Street, on 10th September 1826.
In Pigot's Directory for 1828, there is an Ann Thomas listed as a Fishmonger.
Might you have a link anywhere here? if so, please get in touch.
