Looking for any information on Viola Whitley (my G-Grandmother, b. circa 1901) or Mark Whitley (GG-Grandfather) and Molly Fountain (whom I think is my GG-Grandmother).

Viola married Charlie Conway in North Carolina then moved to Florida with her daughters after her husband's death in the late 1930s/early 1940s.

1850 Williamson co., Illinois census list George F. Whitley age 54 Virgina (born abt 1796) md. Mary Shirrel Waller age 52(Tenn). Children born in Ill. according to the census were Sarah J.(28 yrs) Thomas S. (27yrs) Melissa Elizabeth (20yrs) Silas A. (12 yrs.) George W. (13 yrs). There was also daughter Jane md. Green Poplin. This must be the Sarah J. There might have been another daughter named Elizabeth and a daughter Martha E. who married Jonathan Anthony on 8 nov 1848. Silas A. md. Eliza E. Taylor. Silas was born 20 dec 1837 in Williamson co. and died may 1900.
Any one have George's parents or other info?

WHITLEY, Jr., William "Bill" passed away in his home in Vero Beach, Florida, on the morning of October 24, 2007, surrounded by his family.

William was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on October 26, 1924. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific on the USS Enterprise CV-6 as a turrett gunner in the Buzzard Brigade. After the war using the GI Bill, he attended North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering of the University of North Carolina and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Engineering. He moved to South Florida in 1952. In the 1970's, he designed and business to Ft. Pierce.

Bill was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in Florida, Alaska, Colorado, and Venezuela.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette of Vero Beach; his son Bill Whitley III and wife Karen; his 3 daughters, Diane Fields and husband Jim, Shari Keegan and husband Bob, and Terri Triplett and husband Don; 12 grandcildren; and 13 great-granchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Cancer Society, 3375 20th St. Suite 100, Vero Beach, FL 32960, in memory of Williamk Paul Whitley, Jr.

Family visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007, friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 602 N. US Highway #1, Fort Pierce, FL. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, October 27, at 10:00 am. A military burial will be held immediately after the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, FL.

She was born about 1808 in GA and married William Wright in 1818. they are listed in the 1850 census for Laurens County GA as follows: Wm 54 b. NC, Matilda 43 b. GA, Wineford 22 b. GA, Mary 21, Geo W 20, Lidia M 16, Nancy 14, Charles 13 (my gg grandfather), Ursala C 11, Martha C 9, Elizabeth 7, William 6 ,Issac 4, Sabra 3, Sally C 1 James D 48 (probably William's brother). They were also listed in the 1860 census, and then they (William and Matilda) disappeared. My gg grandfather Charles K Wright married Almeda Keen and turned up in Dodge County GA in 1880. I have no idea whatever happened to William and Matilda or who their parents were.

John and Sallie had at least 5 children when they both died on the same day, Nov. 4, 1904 in Bell Co., Texas. On the 1910 Census I found 4 Whitley children living in Buckners Orphans Home in Dallas, Texas. The children were: Nancy 12, T. B. 11 (Thomas B.?), Mary A. 9, Delmer 8. Their son, John Oscar Whitley had died at age 4/5 in 1899. Would like to find someone who has knowledge of this family. John W. Whitley was the son of Thomas B. and Mary A. Whitley.

I would appreciate any information on my Dad's family. He was born Ralph James Whitley in Concord, NC on 8/22/15. I have his mother as Mrs. C.S. Whitley - other names I have from the Whitley side of the family are N.F. Whitley, William Whitley, Mary Whitley, Belle Whitley Hartsell, Ephriam Whitley, and Margaret Bowers Whitley. These names are from an old notation from my Mother - unsure of how I'm related to any of these. I have found a reference to Lewis Whitley b 12/22/1913, d 2/25/1997 who mave have been my Dad’s brother.

I would certainly appreciate any information anyone has on my Dad's side of the family - if nothing else, it will give me a start on researching the Whitley clan.

(Fannie) Winderweedle abt 1876 in Pickens Co., GA.
She was born Dec 21 1852 in Georgia. They came to Keatchie, DeSoto Parish, La. where he died Jan 6, 1929. Fannie died Dec 20 1899 also in Keatchie.
They were the parents to my grandfather, Eugene Allen Whitley of Keatchie and Shreveport, La. Anyone have information on this family?

Funeral services for Mrs. RENDY HENLEY WHITLEY, 88, of 2012 Wrenn St., who died yesterday at her home, will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in McEwen West Chapel.
The Rev. H. R. Abernathy, pastor of Full Gospel Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. W. J. Yeamans Jr., pastor of Greenland Avenue Baptist Church, and the Rev. C. P. Rayborn, pastor of Bryant Park Baptist Mission. Interment will be in Amity
Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Whitley was born May 19, 1871, in Stanly County, daughter of the late JOHN and CHARLOTTE HENLEY.

I have acquired the Bible (pub. 1817) of John Whitley and Susey Whitely (m. 10 April 1820) from Halifax, Yorkshire, England. These are the grandparents of John Henry Whitley (1866-1935), Speaker of the House of Commons and Sir/Brig. Gen. Edward Nathan Whitley (WWI).

The Bible contains 10 pages worth of family history, including the parents and siblings of John and Susey (circa 1780s). The last entry is the 6 Feb 1935 death of J.H. Whitley. If this is your line, I would be glad to do lookups.

Mrs. Grace Marie Hutchins Whitley, 61, is now in the arms of the two she loved the most, God and her husband, John David Whitley. She left us to be with them on September 3 atter a long hard battle. She was loved and will be missed by many.
She was born Nov. 7, 1943, to Albert Harding Hutchins, who preceded her in death, and her mother, Ruby Pearl Poole, who survives. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Rene' Whitley.
She is survived by her mother; her daughters, Teresa (Keith) Hennings, [son] David (Lori) Whitley, and Dena (Mike) Cox, all of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Natasha Hennings, Austin Whitley, Lauren Whitley, Amanda Hicks, and Dennis Cox; great-grandchildren, Cody Cox, Alisa Cox, Jimmy Carr, Andy Cox, and Abbygayle Hicks; brothers John (Ann) Martin of Winston-Salem, Jerry (Diane) Hutchins of Southmont, Harold Hutchens [ ] of Linwood, and Roger Hutchens [ ] of Lexington; and special nieces and nephews.
She dedicated her life to the loving child care of many. She was a dedicated member of the Community Baptist Church family. A special thanks to Amy Pierce for helping us care for our mother.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Community Baptist Church in Lexington by the Rev. Brian Workman. Mrs. [Whitley] Grace will lie in state at the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Sept. 5, at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel."

I believe this woman was my great-grandmother and was possibly married to a William Wheeler. Around 1894, when my grandmother, Mamie Agnes Wheeler was approximately three years old, she, Mamie was put in an orphanage. (Probably in Galveston, TX). The family raised two other children, a girl and a boy. It is unknown whether the siblings were alive when Mamie was abandonded and no one knows why this occured. My grandmother married James Thomas McKeon in Ft. Worth in 1906. They had thirteen children. Any information on this Whitley, her ancestors, her husband, or the other children (along with Mamie) would be greatly appreciated

sarah Hitch was married to James Scott 1821 in Ky. Apparently James Scott knew the Whitley family through Harriet Hitch.
My GGGpa. was Wiseman Scott, and he was named after his grandfather, Wiseman Hitch.
I cannot find my Sarah Hitch with the correct dates anywhere. I thought perhaps she was the daughter of Joseph Whitley, but that wouldn't work.

I posted some messages here several years ago and wanted to post a new one in case anyone could help me. My paternal grandfather is Elbert Lee Whitley. I don't know when or where he was born. I know that he was living in Arkansas around 1943. My father was born on June 5, 1943 in Conway, Ar. to Elbert Lee and my grandmother Lillie Wafford. They were not married so Elbert Lee is not on my father's birth certificate but it is postitive that he is my grandfather. Elbert Lee did marry and have other children but my father was unknown to his wife so he was never allowed contact with his siblings. We don't know his wife's name or any of his children's names. Any help anyone could give us would be greatly appreciated. Elbert Lee has 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 gggrandchildren from my father. We would love to be able to find our family. I am looking for Robert (Bobby) Whitley, probably born about 1912 (he looks about 20 in the attached 1932 photo). His mother was Annie Jane Wynn or Wynne, from Brymbo near Wrexham in North Wales. His father may have worked for Fyffes, the banana company.
I believe Bobby emigrated to southern or South Africa, where he may have worked as a soldier in the South African Army and/or as a game warden/ranger.

I am looking for any relatives my father might have. He was born in Conway, Ar. on June 5, 1943. His name is Douglas Lynn Whitley. His father was Elbert Lee Whitley and his mother was Lillie Wafford Freeman. No information is known about his relationships to anyone in the Whitley family. His father and mother were not married at the time of his birth and his father's name does not appear on his birth certificate. We know the following of Lillie: She was born in 1903 somewhere close to Greenbrier, Ar. She had three sisters, Ruby, Annie, and Hattie. I believe she also had brothers, but am not sure. Her fathers name was Lewis Wafford. I'm not sure what her mother's name was. She had to children, Wanda Frances Wafford and Douglas Lynn Whitley. She was married to a Freeman sometime after my father's birth after moving to California and has one step child William Gerald Freeman. Lillie passed away at the age of 81 in Borger, Texas and is buried in Highland Park Cemetary in Borger. She has many grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. Any information anyone could give me on my grandfather Elbert Lee Whitley or my grandmother Lillie Wafford Freeman would be greatly appreciated by my father and the rest of our family. I have from a source that George Cagle Jr of Stanly County, born about 1812, married Elizabeth Whitley, who was called Mary or Polly. I’ve recently seen several records that have her marrying James Coley. The census records do show James Coley married to a Mary. I’ve thought Elizabeth to actually be a Whitley, using circumstantial evidence. Her daughter Elizabeth Cagle, who married John W. Honeycutt, is living next door to Elizabeth/Mary/Polly’s brother Columbus Whitley in 1860. Of course, this could only be circumstance. But experience tells me that is rarely the case in these matters. However, I don’t know. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for Nathan Whitley - married Mary Sankey, lived in Wellington, Shropshire in 1870s, ran a temperance hotel, had 6 children - Elizabeth, Mary, William, Clara, Albert and John Ernest. Can only trace family of John Ernest - all other siblings only just discovered! Albert and John moved to Harborne, B'ham in 1901, rest moved to Birkenhead. My father is 83 - help him find family of lost Aunts and Uncles if you can please.

Mary Whitley Ireland to Patterson, NJ

Mary was born in Ireland c 1840, she married Thomas wilson c.1835 also born in Ireland.

They had a son William born 1867, and possibly a daughter Jeanett born in 1880 both in Patterson, NJ.

William married Elizabeth Murray in NYC.

He was a plasterer.

I know there are several Needham Whitleys. Mine was married to Leah Montgomery 12/311867 in Wilson Co, NC at Zelphia Manny's by J. W. Tucker. Wilson records show her parents as Willie and Celah Montgomery. I don't know his. I am actually seeking information primarily on Leah - I am decended from one of her brothers. Does anyone know anything about her parents or siblings? Needham's?
