Looking for biological grandmother/mother of William Whitmore/Cacace

I have very limited information. I am looking for a woman with the last name (maiden) Whitmore. She became pregnant at the age of 16 in aprox. 1952. She had my dad in Redhook Brooklyn New York until he was aprox two years of age at which point she gave him up for adoption through the Whitmore/Cacace family. My fathers name was William James Cacace. He passed away at the age of 42. It is my understanding that my grandmother re-married and had more children with a man somewhere in up-state New York. I am looking only for medical reasons and would not interfere in anyone's life. Anyone with info please reply.
Thank you

Whitmore with Scottish roots

My Whitmore DNA test indicates ancient ancestry from Scotland. I am looking for any Whitmores from SE Virginia to compare notes with. My Ancestor was Holleman Whitmore, son of David - in Surry County, VA 1799. Holleman and descendants later lived in Prince George County and Chesterfield - perhaps Richmond in the 1800s. Holleman married a Warren, His son Isaiah married a Shackelford. I have some other male names, but am having trouble finding Whitmore males for DNA comparisons. Thanks. M

Whitmore family, Marcellus, NY, Boonsville, NY

Searching for parents of Aurnea Whitmore Raymond b. abt 1809. She d. in Marcellus and is buried there. Town historian says she died in 1854, her tombstone states 1850, and other records state 1852. She is living next to Samuel Whitmore in the Marcellus 1840 census. Several "Whitmore" individuals are buried in the Marcellus cemetery: Asa, b. 1779, Jabez b. 1766, children of: Ruel, George , and Samuel Whitmore are also found in this cemetery. I think the Whitmores may have come from CT, or MA, but I've been unable to locate records. Aurnea's husband grew up in Boonsville, NY and a "Joshua Whitmore" also lived there at the same time. He may be Aurnea's father, but he disappears following the 1820 census. Any information truly appreciated.

John (1) Whitmore: Proof of birth?

I have been reviewing my earlier research on John (1) Whitmore who had 2 wives, the first unknown, the second the widow Jessup and I have been searching internet for more information. I am wondering where has anyone found proof of his date or place of birth? I have found information posted that says he was born 1589 or 1598 in Hitchen, Hertsford, England with no sources cited. Last night I printed out Parish records of Hitchen from NEHGR 21:169+ and I do not find anything that can link our John to the Whittemores listed; he is not listed. Nor is his marriage to wife No. 1 whoever she is. All information from the parish records seems to connect to the Thomas Whittemore who settled in Mass. Where did the information about the birth of John Whittemore/Whitmore/Wetmore of CT.first come from and what sources were used? What am I missing here?

WHITMORES OF THE SOUTH

Am seeking any and all information on Southern Whitmores that immigrated from Eng. Brunswich or Greenville, VA, then on to Orange Co.,NC, and finally to Rhea Co. TN by 1800. Surnames are Howell, Winifred, Jesse, Eliza and Charles. All were born in the late 1770's and most were born in VA. Howell and Charles are both Rev War veterans enlisted in VA. Who are their parents? Are the five siblings or even
related? Are they Saponi Indians?

Seeking information on Jesse, Howell, Charles, Eliza, and other Whitmores of Orange, NC circa 1780/1800 time period. Trying to put together a family. Need a father and a mother and links connecting them to Jesse, Howell and Charles who I believe are brothers. A "William", Charles and Howell all served in Rev War enlisting from Greenville, VA. Believe Jesse went to Rhea Co., TN by 1830 to raise a family of
son Howell and daughter Eliza m.Robert B. Earles 1840 Rhea Co., TN. Email address: frankiesue@clnk.com. All replies answered.

Whitmore/Wetmore/Whittemore DNA Project Update

The Whitmore et al DNA project has made a great deal of progress since the first of the year.

We have test results on six descendants of Thomas Whitmore/Wetmore of Middletown, CT, descended from three of his son, Izrahiah, Beriah and Joseph. From these results we have been able to deduce a haplotype for Thomas himself, and it is likely that we could identify a male descendant of Thomas in the male line, and possibly even define the line to which that man belonged. We would like to have descendants of his sons John, Samuel, and Nathaniel as well. We invite any male Wetmore, whether or not he knows his lineage, to join our project.

We also have test results on two descendants of the Whittamores of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England, one a descendant of Thomas Whittemore of Malden, Ma and the other a descendant in the English line. In spite of some of the genealogies which have been written, it appears that this family is NOT related to the Wetmore/Whitmores or to the descendants of Francis Whitmore of Cambridge.

We are still awaiting test results on the second of two descendants of Francis Whitmore of Cambridge, and we invite any others of this line to join the project as well.

We will also be testing a descendant of the Watmore/Whatmore family of Nottingham to try to discover how they may relate to the others.

In addition to the English Whitmore families, we have several descendants of German/Swiss immigrants to America, whose names have been Anglicized from Witmer, Whitmer, etc, in many cases to Whitmore.

Please visit the Whitmore Surname Project at

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~whitmore/

and consider joining us to see how DNA testing can help with and add to traditional genealogical research.

We welcome any questions.

Hal Whitmore
Wilmington, Delaware

Whitmore/Clarke Canada

I have received some corrected information and am hoping someone sees a link. My mother was born Wilhelmina Whitmore in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1933. Her father was William Whitmore and mother was Viola Grace Clarke (uncertain if wed or if Viola was also a Whitmore.) She was orphaned in about 1940 (unknown how) when Viola was about 29--meaning Viola was born in about 1911. Wilhelmina (Billie/Willie) was brought up in foster homes/orphanages, also in the Anglican Church/Church of England, and always told there were no relatives.
Any help with a connection would be appreciated. Thank you!

Has anyone found a connection to Ontario, Canada?
My grandfather was Harold Michael Whitmore (1897?-1975)from Goderich Township. He had siblings: Rose, Flossie, Ken, Frank, Raymond, and Gaynell.
His father was Franklin John Whitmore (1867-1946)from Don Mills (I don't know if he was born there). He had two brothers-one named Samuel. One of them went
to California and was killed there in a saloon. His father was John Whitmore (1827-?), possibly from Pennsylvania. His father was Michael Whitmore, married to Mary Fisher.

Whitmore/Wetmore/Whittemore DNA Project

A Y DNA project is underway for Whitmores/Wetmores/Whittemores et al. See
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~annieron/Whitmore/
for more information.

Ebenezer Stowell Whittemore made the claim back in 1878 that they were closely related. In 1879 William H. Whitmore "regret[ed] exceedingly the publication of " E. S. Whittemores comments, and claimed that the theory was without merit. (His arguments were so forcefully put that it reminded me that my father had always told me the family motto was "often in error, never in doubt.") Since that time a number of Whittemore genealogists have published material showing that the American patriarchs of the Whitmores and the Wetmores were first cousins once removed of the Whittemore patriarch, Thomas.

I would like very much to see this theory of E. S. Whittemore's either proved or disproved and Y DNA tests would be an excellent way to go about it. Two or three descendants in the male line (see web site for why it must be the male line) from each of the three families would give us a good start on this. The test itself is quick and painless (no blood involved) and can be easily done at home with a small kit that is mailed to you.

Gentlemen, order your kits today!! Ladies, find a male Whittemore cousin and force him to take the test or provide "scholarship" money for it. There is even a little scholarship money already available.

DNA may be the best way to knock down the brick wall on your Whittemore/Whitmore research
Whitmore and variation surname project

Some months ago, we started a Whitmore and variations surname project, using DNA to help distinguish between the many family lines of this name. See http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~annieron/Genetic%20Geneaology... for background.

So far, we have results from a descendant of my ancestor, Joseph Whitmore (1767-1835) of Coshocton Co, Ohio; from a descendant of Benjamin Whitmore (1669) of northern Switzerland; from Joseph Widmer (1876) of central Switzerland. None of these lines seem to be related!

Soon we will have results from a descendant of Peleg Whitmore/Wetmore, b.1782 Litchfield, Connecticut. This line presumably comes from England. I’m hoping this will clear up a controversy about whether my Jacob origins were germanic or English.

We definitely need more participants in this project to be able to sort out all these Whitmore / Whitmer / Widmer / etc. lines. If you are a male with surname Whitmore or variation, or know of one, please contact Ann Winder at annsfamilytree@pobox.com. Some scholarship money is available.
A., postmaster and pioneer. When the late J. A. Whitmore died in Regina, in 1904, the Government not only lost an able and efficient official, but Canada lost a citizen whose fine character, sterling rectitude and constructive abilities had written him a high place amongst the makers of the West. He belonged to one of those families which, originating in England, settled in pro-revolutionary times in the Americl1n Colonies,....The Whitmore family originated in the English Midlands, but the ancestors of the subject of this sketch emigrated to what is now the State of New Jersey, long before the revolt of the thirteen colonies... The John Whitmore who figured in these adventures was the grandfather of J. A. Whitmore, the subject of this sketch, who was born on the family homestead, four miles from Niagara, in 1840. .....In 1869 he married Miss Mary Ramsey,

Arkansas in 1880. Census records show she was born in MS.
There is a possibility that she is somehow related to the Barr family. Lula was married two times, first to RA Black and then to my ggrandfather William Frances Westfall.
any information would be appreciated.

Whitmore in Texas 1875 and beyond

Seeking information on the parents and siblings of Musa Whitmore, b. abt. 1875 in Texas. Father was born in Mississippi and mother was born in Texas. Musa married Alfred Gardiner in abt. 1894 in Texas, poss. Ellis Co.
Musa had several siblings: George; Harry; Edward (b. abt. 1878; Lula (b. abt. 1885); Roy (b. February 1893) & Joe (b. abt. 1891 and some of these siblings are found in the census living with Alfred & Musa. My Aunt Bab said something about her Grandmother having the last name of Scott and living in Indian Territory, so perhaps the original Mr. Whitmore died young and Mrs. Whitmore remarried. This is one of my brick walls and any info or leads would be greatly appreciated.
