I am looking for ancesters of Richard Jesse Whitney - born 6/12/1886 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was married to Willie Gertrude Burgess. They had 3 sons - James Earl Whitney (3/14/1910), Richard Jesse Whitney, Jr. (2/22/1917) and Freed Albert Whitney [my father](7/3/1949)- all born in Memphis, TN. My father tells me that Richard Jesse Whitney came to Memphis from New York around 1908. We have a family Bible, but it doesn't go back any further than this. Any information would be appreciated.
