Seek family of Thompson Whittaker, b. Halifax 1855

In 1881 my greatgrandfather's family stayed with Thompson and Mary Whittaker in Northowram just before coming to America. Thompson came later (about 1907) and lived in East Falls (a Philadelphia neighborhood) PA, was naturalized in 1915. In June of 19l5 he applied for an emergency passport to go to Australia. Thompson and Mary had a daughter, Venetta. I am hoping to find any descendants who can tell me the relationship between Thompson, who was about 30 years older than my great grandfather, Robert Whittaker.

Help finding info on Nellie Ann Whittaker, born in Indiana

Need help from the Indiana Whittakers.

Nellie Whittaker born 1882-1884 in Indiana, married John William Frazier (known as William or J.W.) in 1899, and lived in Missouri. Census no help, born after the 1880 census and married before the 1900 census; of course, no 1890 census available. Cannot locate who her family was. I find her in the 1910 and 1920 census (Missouri) as Nellie Frazier, showing both parents being born in Indiana, as well.

Nellie had four children: Ira, Willa, Gussie, and Benjamin Leonard. William abandoned her after 1920, and the children (now all deceased) knew little of their father. The family also know little of Nellie's ancestors. Nellie eventually married Willis Bailey, moved to California, and died in 1950.

Am currently seeking her Death Certificate from CA for any info.(waiting, waiting, waiting) But any extra help would be appreciated.

Cheshire England Whittakers

I have hit a wall researching my paternal line in England. So far have Joseph Whittaker (b. 1821 Sproston, Middlewich) and wife Ann, then Abraham Whittaker (b. 1850 Sproston, Middlewich) wife Ann Elizabeth Percival (b. 1847 Brereton, Middlewich, d. 1939 Over Tabley), then John Daniel Whittaker (b. 1881 Warrington, d. 1949 Sutton, Ontario). John Daniel was married to (?) and had a son according to family stories before divorcing and marrying Elizabeth Hewitt and immigrating to Canada. Any help would be appreciated in continuing back on the tree or in finding living relations in Cheshire. According to family story and census records the family were large farmers/ landowners.

I know she had a sister named Girty Slyvia and Mamie and a brother named Ona, he married Mamie Ferris on September 1908. Anyone knowing anything about Crawford Whittaker that information would be great also. As I was raised
in foster homes, I have no knowledge nor personally know
relatives. Starting from scratch. Also trying to connect Norris Bennett relationship to my grandmother. Met him once or twice introduced to me as my uncle, my mother Inez's brothe.

I am seeking the daughters of my uncle Richard Whittaker. Him and his wife believe name to be Bobby lived in Roseburg Oregon area around 1950 or late 1949. His wife left him and took the girls to Texas. Rumor is that she remarried and her new husband adopted the girls.) I know two of the three girls names: Darlene and Connie ( I heard the name Mickey also linked to them but who knows). In the 1960 he went to Texas and visited with one of his daughters. His wife at that time was Emma. His sister, Inez was my mother and I have some keepsakes of his and really would like to see his girls get them.

The Daily Oklahoman
02-11-1905
Page 4/10

OKLAHOMA NOTES

William Whittaker, a Cherokee Indian, who recently
had his restrictions removed, is the founder
of an orphan's home at Pryor Creek, I.T. This
institution, which is known as the Whittaker
Orphan's Home, is the only one of the kind in
the territory that accepts both Indian and white
children.

Mr Whittaker runs the home on purely philanthropical
principles. It is understood that he intends to use
the money realized from sale of a part of allotment
to enlarge the institution and make other improvements.

Posted for genealogical purposes only; no relation***

Robert Whitaker

I am still searching for Robert. He left England sometime after the end of World War 1. I know that he had two boys who served either in the American services or Canadian, because during the 2nd World War they tried to make contact with family members. They would be my Mother's cousins. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Carol Baloglu

Raymond Whittaker

Does anyone have any info that could help me? Raymond Whittaker was my grandmothers' father but had gone off the scene when she was an infant. He married her mother, Fanny Burdett, in West Derby Liverpool, in 1894. They had 4 children I think. Harry 1897 was the eldest (he moved to Canada) & my Grandma was the youngest, born in 1909. She never used his surname but used her stepfathers. Any further info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gaye

Whittaker family, from Southwark

I'm trying to find anything about the Whittaker family from Southwark, and their ancestry. Their address in 1881 was 24 Willmott's Buildings, (presumably) Kent Street, Southwark. Louise Emily Whittaker (1880-1926) was my mother's mother. Louise married William Hersey (1878-1946). Louise was the daughter of Edward and Louise Whittaker, her mother being a Daiton (according to the IGI - itself an uncommon surname in the UK). Just before she married in 1902, the 1901 Census lists her as an ironer living in (Stoke) Newington. Any takers?

Joseph Whittaker, Indian Captive in 1695, age 11

In 1695 the township was many times molested by Indians, and several persons were killed and wounded. Early in the fall a small party made their appearance in the northerly part of the town, where, finding two boys at work in an open field, they managed to surprise and capture them, and, without committing further violence, retreated through the woods to their homes on the shore of Lake Winnipiseogee. Isaac Bradley, aged fifteen, was a small but active and vigorous boy; his companion in captivity, Joseph Whittaker, was only eleven, yet quite as large in size, and heavier in his movements. After a hard and painful journey they arrived at the lake, and were placed in an Indian family, consisting of a man and squaw and two or three children.

You can read the rest of this story on the website listed below.
Joyce

http://users.rcn.com/smartin.javanet/boys.htm
