Chappel (Chap) Whitten

I have posted on this subject before, but now I know more than I did. I still need as much information as I can get. C. T. or Chappel (Chap) Whitten was from the Abbeville District of South Carolina, born about 1837. He had a brother named George. I would like to know the name of Chap's wife, if possible. I know that Chap was a private in the CSA from SC, that he was wounded and discharged. He had at least 3 sons, W.H. (Will) Whitten, John C. Whitten, and James Austin, Sr., who moved to Alabama with his family. James Austin was married to Sarah Francis (Fannie) Kennedy. They had three children: Susie, who married John Edney in Birmingham, Alabama; Mamie Francis, who married Arthur Gardiner (they were my grandparents); and James Austin Whitten, Jr., who married Myrtie Carden. JAW, Sr. was killed in a mine accident in Alabama, and since Chap Whitten was a widower at this time, his daughter-in-law, Sarah Francis Kennedy Whitten, and her 3 children moved back to South Carolina to keep house for him. He was so contrary, apparently, that she took the 3 children and moved back to Alabama. I am interested in anyone who knows anything about any of these people, especially if you can fill in missing gaps for me. I know that George Whitten was married to Cornelia Sanders in South Carolina, and that they had about eight children, including one called C. T. Whitten, Jr., although he was not the son but was the nephew of C. T. (Chap) Whitten. Chap Whitten was a wagon and buggy maker, and a blacksmith after the Civil war. Other of George Whitten's children were Fannie, Jennie, Ruby, Pearl, John, Susie, and Joseph. I know the names of some of the spouses of George's children. For example, C.T., Jr., was married to Janie Lou Gilbert or Gibert, who apparently was of French Hugenot extraction. There was a large Hugenot community around Abbeville District in the 1800's. I know this is long, and it might give some information to others researching this same family. I want to know who C.T.'s wife was, who his father was, who his mother was, and anything else that is pertinent. Thanks!
