I have just recently acquired my paternal grandmother's records for DAR. We are descended from Thomas Whittier (1622) and Ruth Green as follows:

Bessie Ethel Barnes 1871 and John Henry Cooper 1866
and then my grandmother, Wynnifred Ramona Cooper
I am interested in knowing of any other children of all of these. Also wondering how John Greenleaf Whittier fits in. I think that he also goes back to Thomas Whittier, but wondering if it is through Nathanial 1658 or another son of Thomas and Ruth.
I have an old (1847) letter written by my g-g-g-g-grandmother Dorcas (nee Whittier) Shaw to one of her daughters, Vilena Stevens Holton who had moved west to Quincy IL. Dorcas and her husband Joseph Shaw lived in New Sharon, Maine. She writes in this letter about people living in the area. I also have an autograph book which belonged to Vilena Stevens Holton which dates back to 1837. There are names with dates and places in Maine. If anyone is interested, I could post these names.
