IDEAL, GA: A funeral service for Betty Jane Whyde, 86, of Ideal, Georgia, formerly of Newark, Ohio will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, with Pastor William Rauch officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Betty was born in Plain City, Ohio on January 1, 1924 to the late Samuel A. and Mazy Pendleton.
She passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, GA.
Betty was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Ann Hampton (Don) of Oglethorpe, GA; two sons, John William Whyde II (Lois) of Newark, OH, Jeff Lee Whyde (Tanya) of Logan, OHIO; three sisters, Katherine Whyde of Newark, OH, Elizabeth Sandal of Nunica, MI, Joyce Lee Young of Hebron, OH; brother, Franklin Allen Pendleton of Newark, OH; step-brother, Richard Mount of Newark, OH; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John William Whyde in 1994, whom she married on May 13, 1943; and several brothers.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
