Albert Howard Wiebe

Hi, I'm looking for information on my great grandpa's brother Albert Wiebe. His given name was Abraham and he lived from 19 Mar 1905 - 2 Feb 1987. But I heard from his sister that he had a son named Alvin. I don't know if it's true but I also saw on two different records that his Albert's wife's name was Lenora or Lila. I can't seem to find anything on her, a maiden name or anything. Hopefully someone can help me out. Please email me at jeweledbridge83@aim.com thanks.

While browsing the message board over the weekend I came across your response to a message W.B. Wiebe. I am Edward Wiebe and my grandfather, Peter Wiebe, was a brother to Wilhelm Wiebe; name was changed to William in the 1880 US Census. I am the genealogist doing the Peter B. Wiebe genealogy and have quite a bit of info. on William Wiebe, and some of it differs from what you have. I find great differences in information on William posted by various genealogists in rootsweb.com World Connect. I have copies of Jacob Wiebe documents that support his birth in south Russia on 7 July 1876. Please send me an e-mail at ewmv2@msn.com. Your posted e-mail address was not good.
Edward Wiebe

I am glad to hear from you again. I haven't been on message boards much for awhile. I have done major work on my genealogy, particularly on Family Group Records and documentation since I last communicated with you. Let's try to communicate periodically directly.
In my family line, I have a William Wiebe born 7 July 1876 in Russia, son of Jacob Wiebe and Susanna Bartell, both born in Russia. He died on 28 Nov 1954 and was buried on 1 Dec 1954 in Hiram Cem. in Creve Couer, Missouri. He had 7 other siblings. You can find the information I have found with sources in my submission on rootsweb.com with search under my father's name Lloyd Sontag. I was just researching this family of Wiebe's and have some information on the family. Please contact me, if you want at kathyj_232@hotmail.com. Kathy Jumper

BINGO!

Thanks very much, Bette. I had also found the 1901 data with the family name mis-spelled. It's shown correctly in the 1906 data as Wiebe. John and Mary were listed in 1901 but not 1906: that squares with Mom's statement that they died of scarlet fever before she was born. A small note in the 1906 lock up our family data: it shows "Annie" as having been born on May 12. That was Mom's birthday. She died Nov 15, 2005, having just made it to 99-1/2 years. We had a subdued Christmas this year, but we know she got her wings.

I had downloaded the 1911 census data but hadn't yet plowed through it. Thank you again for a very special New Year's present. May this be the best year ever for both of us.

Sincerely,

Tom Amies
Peter had 2 children born before my father, Edward, John and Bertha which were not on your list. I have a major amount of. info. on the Peter B. Wiebe family.
This is in response to your posted message of 12 Oct.
I have a fairly comprehensive genealogy of the Daniel Wiebe family that my aunt worked on for numerous years, and now me for 4-5 years. I have the latest versions of GRANDMA and Brothers Keeper, and use many on-line sources of genealogy information. Peter B. Wiebe, the brother of Jakob B. Wiebe, was my grandfather. I have a lot of info. on Jakob B. Wiebe, but cannot find you in what I have. Please tell me who your parents were.

Send me your e-mail address and I will be glad to send you a file containing the Wiebe Family Genealogy. It sound like it would be worthwhile for us to communicate.

I know that Daniel Wiebe's father was Peter Wiebe, but I I have spent considerable time searching for more than just a name without success. I found this Peter Wiebe at this web site: mmhs.org on this document--"Register of Persons Living Outside the Chortiza Colony in 1852"; Einlage, Section #59.

Thank-you for your response to the message I posted. On Susanna's parents all I have from a census report was they were born in Poland. I have names of her siblings from the GRANDMA CD. Would you happen to have information on who were Daniel Wiebe parents and Elisabeth Enns mother? All I have is that Elisabeth's dad's name was Jacob Enz.

Here is my connection to this family; Jacob B. was my great grandfather. His father was Jacob S. (gg grandfather). Jacob S.'s father was Dainel (ggg grandfather). I think the Jacob B. Wiebe family is the Wiebe Reunion I go to from time to time when it is only 5 or 6 hours away. It has been going on for over 50 years.

The small bit of research I have done has the name starting as wiebe. Some families dropped the e at the end because they grew tired of correcting people. The proper pronunciation of the name is weeb. A lot of people have a dendency to say weeby, which is incorrect.

Looking for the Wiebe family of Wetaskiwin, Alberta

Dear Readers:

My maternal grandfather, Henry Wiebe, was born in Russia in 1872 and emigrated to Manitoba, Canada, date unknown. He married Augusta Grodecki (Grodicki?), who was born in Germany in 1871 and emigrated to Canada in 1899. They lived in/near Wetaskiwin, Alberta and had a total of eight children.

Mary and John Wiebe were born in Manitoba in 1894 and 1896, respectively. Both died of scarlet fever sometime before my mother, Anna Alma Wiebe, was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on May 12, 1906. Mom died November 15, 2005, which is why I am starting a genealogical search for relatives and ancestors. At the age of 99-1/2, Mom had outlived all her siblings

The other children were Martha (known as Florence), born abt. 1898 in Alberta; Arthur (born abt. 1901); William, Paul (both birth dates unknown); and Lawrence (birth date abt. 1915). Mom's mother died giving birth to Lawrence. Mom's father died in California -- Stockton, I think -- when I was five, so that would have been 1948-49.

Any help that readers can provide in establishing connections to my Canadian relatives based on this scanty information would be deeply appreciated.

Sincerely,

Tom Amies
bunsen@wa-net.com
Snailmail: 9105 NE 7th St., Vancouver WA 98664 USA
