In your message, you mention a Sarah E UNKNOWN - "Calvin GOGUE, son of James GOGUE and Sarah E UNKNOWN". Sarah's maiden name was NORMAN. Her parents were Calvin M. NORMAN and Mary STROUD.

Also, James GOGUE was married to Mary M. HASTINGS (daughter of Robert Hastings and Susan Mofield) before he married Sarah. They were married on December 29, 1852 in Williamson County, Illinois. They had 3 children:

1. John GOGUE b. December 1, 1859 d. August 15, 1943
2. Robert GOGUE b. 1861 d. 1861

He married Elizabeth Margaret Lyon (born 27 Dec 1833, died 1912) They got married 7 Nov 1849 in Wilson County, Tennessee.

Anyone have any information on the ancestors of this James Wier, where the family came from, etc?

If you have any specific information on Elizabeth, we have names for a couple of generations, but no dates whatsoever

I am looking for the parents and siblings of Louise Weir (born ca 1829 probably in Mecklenburg, Germany, d 1859, Guttenberg, Iowa) who married Fredrick Schroeder (born 10 March 1829 Marnitz, Mecklenburg, Germany). I am also looking for the marriage record of Louise and Frederick.

Louise and Frederick left Hamburg, Germany, Oct 1854 on the ship Howard and arrived in New York Dec 1854. On the New York ship record Louise is identified as “Anne. Mar. Soph. Louis., age 24 years 4 months” and Frederick is identified as “Jochim Schroeder, age 25 years 9 months.” (Jochim is part of his baptismal name.)

Louise and Fredrick had three children: Fredrick Wilhelm, Jr.(born Buffalo, NY) who married Effie Butcher, Rudolph Henry who married Ellen Frederick, and Louisa Dorothea who married Ludwig Dietrich Gatz.

Saw your post on the McCord-Wier (Weir?). My paternal line runs from a John Weir, d. 1817, Chester-Fairfield Co., SC, to Charles Weir, d. 1838, Wilcox Co. AL, to Robert Holman Weir in Newton Co., MS. My maternal line has McCords in Decatur, Newton Co., MS.

There was a Thomas Weir, brother of my Charles, who is buried in Choctaw Co., MS and the town of Weir, MS is named for his son John, a colonel in the CSA army.

I am looking for a "Living Wier Woman and her "2" Living "Jordan" Children. This "Liiving Wier Woman" was once married to a Walter Carvel Jordan, per a Posting on Ancestry.com. I just found this information on this Website.

Walter Carvel Jordan was born on 31 July 1902 and he died on March 7, but I don't know the year of his Death. I will be checking real soon for the "YEAR" of his Death. He was married to "Our Gladys Irene Kier (6), who was born on 24 November 1900 and she died on 3 January 1990. They were married on 10 March 1923 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They had "2" Children with a total of "7" Grandchildren. They are all listed in "Our Kier Genealogy Book".

My Father's name was Delano Wier. He died just last month. Louese was Eva's first born daugher...her father was Choctaw and abused Eva. They divorced before OK became a state. Donald Wier, Billy (Wilma), Estelle, Lillian, and Juanita are syblings that are still alive that belonged to John Butler.

Alfred C. Wier is my great, great grandfather. He was born May 18, 1819 in Tompkins or Orange Councy, New York and died July 24, 1887 in Rushford, Allegany, NY.

His daughter Rose Belle married Henry Calvin Kellogg in Rushford, Allegany, NY on Sept.17,1891.

Does anyone have his ancestry?

Do you happen to have any info on a Thomas Shockley who married Anza WOOD in 1855 in Madison Co FL? They had a daughter, Anna Rebecca in 1857 and nothing more is known of Anza and Thomas. Anna was living with Jesse DUKES and wife Nancy WOOD in the 1860 census. Anna married Joseph Daniel HERRING in 1876.

Thanks you very much! I will check it out. I have ran across the Michael Leonard Shockley family several times but haven't found any connections as of yet. Anna stated that her parents were born in GA. I'm not sure is she was referring to Anza or Nancy.

I'm rusty on who I've queried and about what. Your Thomas' parents don't match my records although I think they seem familar. Mine are John and Mary from Chester Co., SC and I know he died 1817 and Mary maybe around 1840 or a little earlier.

I have little on the McCords outside of MS but one lead I'd followed placed them in AL. My grandmother's McCord grandparents are buried at a Baptist Church west of Decatur, MS. His name was Edwin and hers was Catherine Thrash.

Daniel H. Wier

Daniel H. Wier was born in Conewago Township, York County, September 28, 1848, and the eldest of three sons of Moses and Catherine (Hake) Wier, natives of York County, and of German descent. He was brought up on a farm and worked some at the trade of carpenter. He was educated at York County Academy and Normal School, and at Gentzler’s Practical Schools. He taught five terms in the public schools of York County, from 18868 to 1873, two in Conewago, and three in Manchester Township. He was married at York, May 8, 1873, t Leah Shindel, a native of Manchester Township. They have one child, Katie Ellen. He removed to the farm now occupied by him about two miles north of York, where he is engaged in farming and stock raising. He is a member of the Reformed Church, and his wife of the Lutheran Church. He was clerk of Manchester Township in 1874-75-76, and auditor of Conewago Township in 1879-80-81. In politics he is a Republican.

I am actually searching for the parents of Margaret Weir or Wier Bradley, born abt 1820 in Tennessee and married Henry James Simons 23 February 1842 in Yorkville, Gibson County, Tennessee.

Given naming conventions, I as assuming that her mother or perhaps grandmother was a Weir and am therefore looking for any marriages between the Weir and Bradley families to use as a starting place to see if I can follow the family to find Margaret.

I've strayed from the McCords and Wiers for a few months. I don't see that my Thomas had a brother named Charles. His parents are James Harvery Wier (b 1769) and Mary Hamilton (b 1774) - both died in Pickens County Al around 1840. I'm having a lot of trouble tracking the McCords in Alabama, with the exception of my ggrpa. Thanks for your reply!

I am searching for information on Nancy Emily Wier. She was born on 19 Feb 1820 and died on May 10, 1903 in Athens, GA. She married John Alexander (b. 1819, died 7 Mar 1864). They married in Clarke Co., GA on the 25 of October 1841. They had a daughter, Priscilla Jane Alexander, who married Thomas J. Fields. I believe that Nancy had several brothers who served in the Civil War- Nathan Hoyt, Samuel Bell, Robert and Lt. W. C. Wier.

Henry Stanton Wier

My grgrgrandfather was Henry Stanton Wier, who was born btwn 1813 and 1819 in PA and passed away in 1891 in Bloomfield, Greene Co, Indiana. He married Mary Ball in Dec 1840 in Indiana. She passed away in 1897. I am trying to find Henry's ancestry. Written information on the back of my photo of Henry and Mary Wier (@1880's) says he came to Indiana with his brother from Holidaysburg, PA (near Altoona, PA) An elderly cousin of my father told him Wier had also been spelled Weir. In fact, Henry's son William and children used the spelling Weir while his son Frank and children continued the Wier version.

So, I'm looking for information on Henry Stanton Wier, his father or brother, etc. from the Holidaysburg, PA area. The father was a farmer and I am ASSUMING that his mother's maiden name may have been Stanton.

My maiden name is Wier. My father, Fred Orman Wier Sr. was born in Gregory, Texas in 1913. His father's name is James Robert Wier born in Grenada, Mississippi. I have "Wier" relatives living in Texas.
