In 1971 he became an amateur radio operator. His ham call was WBØEJB. He enjoyed the challenge of building and repairing electrical equipment. He coached Little League baseball for several years. He enjoyed traveling and in 1982 he and Elaine began spending their winter months in Rockport, Texas until his death.

JR is survived by his wife, Elaine and their two children; Anna Marie (Arvin) Enerson and six children, Sarah (Tyler) Janssen, Heather, Holly, Joseph, Brianna and Jason, of Estherville and Louis George III (Angela) and two children Brooke and Paige, of Spencer; one great grandchild Cale Janssen; a brother Leo (Carol) Wigen of Spencer, and five sisters, Peggy Wigen of McAllen, Texas, LaVonne (Junior) Bowman of Bloomington, Marlene (LeRoy) Walker, Sr. of Emmetsburg, Bev Harris of Spencer and Mildred (Robert) Ewoldt of Alta; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert (Jackie) Sears of Ohio; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends nation-wide.

JR was preceded in death by an infant brother Neil, his parents, one brother-in-law Emory Harris.

JR will be remembered for his patience and kindness in all situations throughout his entire lifetime.

SERVICE
Zion Lutheran Church
Ruthven, Iowa
Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 10:30 A.M.

INTERMENT
Silver Lake Cemetery
Ayrshire, Iowa

Hello,
I just recently found this post. It appears that I am your niece via Donald's second marriage to Janice Elaine Schmehl. I am their son Gary Wigen's only daughter. As my parents divored when I was small, I don't know anything about his family. Glad to find another uncle!

I have to tell you I didn't expect ot find relatives, this is kind of exciting! Especially since your message was over 4 years ago!
-Teresa

Definitely! I don't know much. My grandmother likes to talk about it but I've only recently discovered the importance of listening (hee, hee). She is still alive. From what I do know there seems to be some mystery behind Henrietta. I don't know why I think this. What are you looking for? I know my great-grandma died shortly after I was born.

My grandmother was Henrietta, the third oldest child of Henry and Clara. I am trying to find more information on Clara. I'd be happy to share information if you are interested.

Robert was a pilot in the US Army posted at Dawson Creek BC, building the Alaska highway in WWII. He died in the Korean War in 1950 at the age of 32. He was born in 1918. He lived in Seattle, working for Boeing. Was this man a member of your family? I have an interesting and urgent message for any living relative.

I am sending this a second time in case the first did not get thru to you. My father was a pilot on the Alaska Highway construction, worked from Dawson creek to Whitehorse. Born in 1918, lived in Seattle prior to and after the war at which time he worked as a pilot for Boeing, He was stationed in Korea but was not killed there.
The chances of two Wigen's with similar history would be wild unless they are one in the same. Drop me a e-mail and we can compare notes. I have my dads miltary records to compare dates. Until I hear from you. Bob Wigen
