I usually search Riley and Whatley surnames, but I now have a photo of my Gr-Grandmother, Louisa McCOLLUM Riley, wife of Uriah Riley, originally from Catahoula Par, LA. There is a young girl standing beside her. On the back of the photo, my granddad wrote: "my dear mother (name above) and added: with "little orphan, Mattie WIGGINS, that we reared from a baby". The child may be 10-12 yrs old, it's hard to tell.

Does anyone have a WIGGINS family that was somehow lost in the 1870-80s, leaving a child named Mattie WIGGINS, that a minister and his wife might have taken to raise? There is no date on the photo.
