All male descendants of Thomas Wight share the same Y-chromosome DNA. If we can locate UK male Wights with various pedigrees from Wights living in the UK prior to the early 1600s we may be able to identify the family from which Thomas Wight of Dedham descended. Does any one have any information on living UK Wights that might want to contribute a little DNA for this search?
I recently submitted a sample for the Nat. Geographic Genographic Project and the results indicate that the male Wights carry a very rare DNA among Europeans, therefore it may be fairly easy to identify Thomas ancestors if we can get some test results.
