You are correct that that is Barbara (Hinkle) Wigley. It couldn't be anyone else.
Follow her thru the census's
1840 Census @ Hall Co., Georgia listed as female age 20-30.
1850 Census at 38th District, Hall Co., Georgia, age 29, born South Carolina. Think Barbara's mother is in the house at age 71, but can't read first name. Transcribed as Sara.
1860 Census: Age 39 @ New Bridge Post Office, Hall Co., Georgia
Roll: 126, Page: 37, Line 14, HH 280/246, June 11, 1860.
1870 Census, age 49 at Wittsburg, Bedford TWP, Cross Co., Arkansas. Born Georgia. There is a J. Kerley or Kelly male in this household, may be related to Kerley family of brother in law John Wigley. Listed as B. Wigley head of house.

I believe your Thomas is found in the following census'
It looks like Allen Daniel Wigley moved to Arkansas before he died in the Civil War.
1870 Census, age 9 at Wittsburg, Bedford TWP, Cross Co., Arkansas. Born Arkansas. Could be "T" or "J" as first name.
1880 census at Precinct 6, Fannin Co., Texas. Born Arkansas. Both parents born Georgia.Hired hand in home of George W. Carter.

His mother Barbara is listed as follows:
1870 Census, age 49 at Wittsburg, Bedford TWP, Cross Co., Arkansas. Born Georgia. There is a J. Kerley or Kelly male in this household, may be related to Kerley family of brother in law John Wigley. Listed as B. Wigley head of house.
I do need to go back and see if she is listed as a widow.

She had three children with Castle and a son James Theodore Cook, my great grandfather from a previous marriage. I know that they lived in Cherokee County in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

I also know of this family. The Wigley family is part of my husbands ancestry. I have been doing reserch for my children. Lilla Shell Wigley is my husbands Great grandmother. she was married to a man named william mart lewis. this man was Rob Corner's first cousin ( rob was married to Alva Kate...who I was told everyone called "Aunt Bee")I don't have any info on William M. lewis Except His DOB,DOD, and stuff like that, but I would really like to know his parents names or at the least Rob Corner's parents names. anything will help. thank you.

She was my step-grandmother who was married to my grandfather Widdie Miles Wigley. They were killed in California while riding in the backseat of a friends car and they were hit head on and all were killed. Why are you asking?

My Wigleys found on the 1880 US census

Joshua Thomas Wigley b.1844 married Ann Maria Stokes b.1840c in the U.K in 1866. They had twin girls in 1867 but sadly only one survived Emma Brickenden. They moved to the USA their address was Kings,Brooklyn, New York.

Can anyone help with anymore info on this line? Did Emma ever get married? Can anyone find them on the 1890 Census?

The only information that I am sure of is:
Harriet Wigley married Wright Saxon, in England. They had one daughter, Florence Saxon, also born in England. By 1911 they were in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and appear in the 1920 census. This is my great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. It appears that Harriet WIGLEY was born in Myland, Cheshire, England in apx. 1872. She died on December
6th, 1938. They all lived and died in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. I do have cemetary information, as well as newspaper articles, and human interest stories. Thank You, for your interest and I look forward to your response.

Can someone help? I'm trying to find the marriage of my Great great gran's Annie Anthony's (nee Wigley)brother Alfred Wigley to Rose Menzies.
I know that Rose came from Scotland and that at least 2 of their children were born in the Dundee area.
Alfred and Rose were in Portsea in 1891, Alfred being in service with the Navy from 1873 to 1906.
I can't find their marriage anywhere so I assume it took place in Scotland. The possible dates I'm looking at would be anywhere from 1881 to 1888, as their first child was born then.
I have a fair amount of information on the Wigley family if anyone recognises these names as being part of their family.

Hi, I am looking for any information regarding Hannah wigley and Benjamin Brindley. Hannah was the daughter of Thoams Wigley and Alice Swindells she was born in Bakewell in 1832/34. She married Benjamin Brindley in bakewell in 1856, I do not have Benjamins date of birth but he must have died not long after marriage as he does not appear on the census records with Hannah.

I am looking for any information about Thomas Wigley born in Ashbourne Derbyshire in 1800, he was baptised in Ashbourne 27th April 1800 possibly at St Oswalds, he could have been a few months old then. His mother was Frances Beck and father was George Wigley he died in 1799 before Thomas was born. Thomas married Alice Swindells (born 1811) and they had 2 sons Thomas and William and a daughter Hannah. Any help would be very greatfully received. Thomas was the brother of my great great great grandfather and I know his children had many children, possibly with surnames Millington.

I have been trying different methods to contact you so I am hoping this reaches you. I to am interested in Lydia Wigley. My g g g g grandfather was George Wigley who died in Ashbourne Derbyshire in 1799, he had several children one being George Roe Wigley who eventually moved to Marple Cheshire on the 1841 census they have a young boy of 7 living with them named Charles Maskrey he doesnt appear on the typed version of the Ancestry census but does on the original document. I wondered if this would give me the link I need to connect my Wigley with Lydia and the MAskreys as I have been struggling to find Georges (who died 1799)father and had thought it could be George Wigley son of Lydias brother Thomas? Can you help at all as to the link between this young Maskrey boy and my Wigleys. I have all lines of family down to my generation from George but am struggling with before him. Hi there, most of my 'Wigleys' came from Ashbourne and Hayfield and settled in Mellor Derbyshire, so probably not the same family link as yours as I have most of mine covered from 1800-1900. You'll probably be able to find most of the birth/marriage and death records on ancestry then that will lead you to who they married and where they settled. Hope you find all the info you need I'm sure none of my lot originated in the Bolton area. Good luck.

George Wigley born 1731 Wirksworth died in 1818 Bonsall

Hi I am looking for any details of any children George Wigley may have had. He was born in Middleton by Wirksworth in 1731 and died in BOnsal 1818 he was the son of Thomas Wigley and Ellen Kniften. I think he may be my great great great great great grandfather. I have gone back to my great great great great grandad George Wigley born in Wirksworth/Bonsall/Ashbourne in around 1765-1770, he married Frances Beck in 1786 and had 4 children. His son George Roe Wigley is the direct line down to me. I feel George son of Thomas could be my Georges father as the dates and areas match up. Could anyone clarify who this George married and if he had children? His aunt Lydia Wigley married William Maskery and a Maskery child appears to be living with my family in 1841 in Marple so feel that helps with the connection to.

Frances Mary b.1882 Fulham married Henry James FINNIS b.1883c. Can only find 1 child Douglas H b.1920 Hammersmith.

William Charles b.1885 Fulham married Annie Blance TOWNSEND they had 5/6 children can only find Frederick J. b.1912 Fulham, Stanley L. b.1914 Fulham, Ivy H. b.1916 Fulham & Ernest A. b.1928 Fulham.

Charles William b.1890 Fulham married Sarah Jane VIZARD b.1885 Paddington (Jane Sarah) Unable to find any children.

Arther Ernest b.1893 Fulham he joined the army and went to war in 1916 was discharged on medical grounds in 1917. I believe he may have married ? AKERS in Croydon in 1919. Can't find any children.

Can anyone help with any more info? Or do we share the same ancestors? if so please get in touch I've hit so many dead ends now!

John WIGLEY b. 1788c had 5 children that I know of with Rachel.

Thomas b.1811, Mary b.1812, Joshua b.1817, Esther b.1821 & Maria b.1826

Thomas married ? who died before 1841 they had Mary Ann b. 1836. He then married Mary WINCOTT b. 1822 can't find any children.

Mary married Henry SHEPHERD b. 1811c they had Henry b.1836c, James b.1838, Fanny b.1841, Edward b.1844 & Thomas b.1847

Joshua married Ann WINCOTT b.1813c they had John b. 1841, Joshua b. 1844, Susanah b. 1847, Albert b. 1850 and Fanny b.1854

John b.1841 married Sarah A DOWDEN b.1841c they had Frederick b. 1873.

Esther married Edward GATES b.1821 they had Edward H b.1845c
he married Emma Kate LAWRENCE and had 8 children I know of.

Maria married John Mitchell HARRIS b.1820c they had Maria b.1848, Edward b.1851c, Margaret b.1852c, Mary b. 1854c, Walter b. 1857, Fanny b. 1860c & Henry b. 1867c

Married Harriet Mountford in 1863
Children were John b1867, Jane 1870, Fanny 1872, Arthur 1874 and Alice 1876.
Fanny married Thomas Davies in 1903.

William and Susanah are his parents ...they are all in Russellville, Franklin, Alabama in the 1870 Census.

2. Richard Wigley and Manerva
Andrew Jackson Wigley B. May ? year is wrong in the 1900 census should be about 1844 married Mariah J.
Richard and Manerva are his parents they are together in the 1870 and 1880 census Franklin, Arkansas

3. William Wigley and Fanny
Andrew Jackson Wigley b. March 1842 married Nancy G. Watson
They are all in Paulding Georgia 1870 and 1880 census and Andrew J. Wigley and Nancy G. are in Hamilton Tennessee in the 1900 census under the name Wiggle. then they are in
Chattooga, Georgia in the 1910 Census and Nancy is living with son James D. Wigley in the 1920 census Chattooga Georgia.

I hope this will help get our Andrew Jackson Wigley's straightened out.

I am looking for the second wife of George. He died in 1960 (age 49) in St Petersburg Florida. He was married to a Janet or Janice. He was my father which I never knew because my parents divorced when I was very young. I can't find any records of the marriage but have been told he did marry. He was born in 1911 in New York.

Am still trying to unravel all my Wards and am looking at my ggreat grandfather's brother as he married a Ward also. I have this marriage

JAMES BENNETT WIGLEY, 20, Bachelor. Tailor, of Wharf St,
Son. of JAMES WIGLEY, Frame Work Knitter.
ANN WARD, 20, Spinster. of Wharf St,
Daughter. of JOHN WARD, Shoe Maker
Wits: JOHN CHAPLIN, JANE WIGLEY

and am interested in trying to find a connection with a fellow researcher as Ann and James brought up 2 nephews, one being a George Ward who became a tailor also. My Wards originate from Newark, Notts and then move to Leicester, Ann's Ward family originate from Loughborough and move to Leicester. The Wigleys are buried at Welford Road Cemetery, Leicester.
The Bennett/ Wigley name is then used by Ann's sister Ellen, she calls one of her sons Bennett Wigley Ward, George Ward mentioned above being Ellen's son. He is never with his parents on census returns from 1871 to 1901, George was born c 1866. Hope this does not sound too confusing!!!

Hello, my grandmother was Annie Wigley she was born in 1891. I do believe there was another Annie who was born in 1870, I keep seeing her name appear but have not had time to investigate who she was yet. My grandmother married someone by the name of Allsopp and then my grandfather Charles Brookes so I don't think it is the same one.

Wigley Family killed in Yazoo County, MS

Does anyone know about a family who was killed in a car accident [I believe a train struck the car at a RR crossing] on 07 August 1927. The people involved were Ben Stigler Wigley (51 yrs), Willie Bell-his son (29 yrs), Pearl Virginia Wigley (31 yrs), Mary Katherine Wigley (6 yrs), Ben Stigler Wigley, Jr. (4 yrs) and Audrey Wallace Wigley (about 4 months old). Any help would be appreciated.
