I'm seeking possible information about three Wiitala (Viitala in Finland!) sisters. They all were from Alavieska,Finland. Their names and birthdates are the following:
Anna Kustaava Jaakontytar Niskala (married, and husband was already in America, who he was, we dont know!),03.01.1879
Ida Amanda Wiitala, 22.06.1884
Lusina Jaakontytar Wiitala, 23.02.1882
The problem is, no-one ever found out what happened to Lusina Wiitala after she took a ship from Hanko, Finland to travel to America. Nobody heard from her ever since. Maybe her name was changed into more american form ( Whatley, Whitlow...?) I cant find her name anywhere, I have been looking for it. We had a Viitala family reunion in Alavieska Finland in summer 1998, and even there we didn't become any wiser, what had happened to little Lusina...(maybe her first name was also changed in America?) Even today I have a good contact with my 3rd generation cousins (of this family)in California, USA...its nice to have a big family!
