Karen, Just remember census takers sometimes wrote the names wrong and the transcriptionists are not perfect either. But with soundex I am glad I could help.
Yes I am a Fairchild descendant. Pennsylvania John, John, John, Enos, Stanley, Grace, Russell, me. I would like to fill in all the descendants of Enos's siblings and then I plan to go east again and look a few up. I just connected with one of Ziba's descendants and know a descendant of Edwin, too. But I have a long way to go to complete that particular family. Do you have any questions of me?

Mona, Thank you very much, I am very grateful to you. I had wrong first names for Lilly's parents, and wrong spelling for Wulbert. When I looked at my Great Grandmothers obituary it say's, "Wilbert," with an I, so I went with the obituary spelling of her former maiden name. No wonder I couldn't find the family in the census, plus I didn't have William or Edward listed as brothers in my family tree, everybody else was accounted for. My Mother Grace is named after her Grandmother (Lilly's)sister Grace so it is important to me to make sure this family is complete. Thank You for your help I'll be able to hopefully go back a little further now with the right spellings. Mona are you in the Fairchild Family?

Re: Wilbert family - Prussia to WI

Hello,
I have Wilbert relatives that lived in Sheboygan and Kohler, WI. In fact, we have a complete family tree that includes a good portion of Wilberts that were traced back to Germany. Unfortunately, I don't have it here - my parents have it, but certainly I can check it if you'd like.

Though I am only in my 30's, my memory is that my grandmother (Caroline Rahn Haase) was the only child of a marriage between 2 widowers. Caroline's mother (my great grandmother) had the maiden or first married name of Honold OR had the maiden or first married name of Wilbert. (I can't remember which, sorry.) Her second married name was obviously Rahn.

My grandmother, however, considered the children of both her parents' first marriages as real whole siblings. She was closer to her Wilbert siblings, and I have fond memories of at least 2 of them (my great uncles): Lester Wilbert and Norman Wilbert, both deceased. Lester (wife Isabelle) lived first in Sheboygan, then in Wauwatosa WI, and then finally in Florida. Norman (and wife Betty) lived most of their lives, I believe, in Kohler WI. I know there were more siblings, though, beyond Lester and Norman.

If any of this is helpful or you want more exact, detailed info (which I have), please let me know.
Thanks,
Charlotte Haase
Hello,
I have just posted a Wilbert surname family tree on Ancestry.com that has 77 individuals, most originating/living in Wisconsin. I have about 25 more names to add to it, mostly from the late 1700's through the 1800s. You can get access to this tree by doing a search for the name Adam Wilbert, born 1850.
Thanks,
Charlotte
charh@execpc.com

My great grandma was Ernestine Wildpret Diener. She lived in both Macomb County MI and Detroit MI. I believe two of her brothers also migrated to this area; August and William. I believe I found both of them; but, could use more concrete evidence. The ship; Mosel, 4-29-1882 carried August & Louise Wildbret with their family. I also found what I believe is their son, Wm., on the 1880 census also married to a Louise. Wm. is listed on it married to Caroline. I believe William settled in Grand Haven MI. Some of the childrens names are Gustav, Wm., Albert, Otto, Auguste, Richard, Heinrich and Herman. I found Wm married to Mollie and Herman to Mary. Herman and Mary had Florence and Friedrich. Anyone connected to these families; please contact me. Thank you very much.
By the way, William was born about 1831 and August 1838. My great grandma was born 1843.

I became very curious as I read your message because my name is Arthur Alexander Wilbert IV and I am originally from Jefferson County (Louisville) KY. I to have lost touch with most of my family but I believe my father Arthur Alexander Wilbert III (still living), grandfather Arthur Alexander Wilbert Jr. (past away), and my assumption is my greatgrandfather would have been Arthur Alexander Wilbert Sr. I find myself wondering if there is a connection.

Re: Wilbert family - Prussia to WI

Hello,

I'm very interested in this Wilbert family, as my grandmother, and Edna Olive Streese, was adopted via a guardianship process with a Wilbert family in Milwaukee family in the early 1900's. Her husband was Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Streese and I believe I have a ship record of some Streese's coming over in 1881 on the same ship as a Charles Wilbert, along with a Jacob Bernard, Carl Christ, Emilie Mueller, and others. I will try to write you separately via email.

Thanks for posting, Pam G. in CA

Does a Philipp Wilbert fit in your tree? He was born abt.1831 in Prussia, wife was Apolonia Hachenretter/Hergenrether? She was born abt. 1820 in Bavaria. They produced a son; Joseph D. Wilbert born somewhere in N.Y. on Oct.26, 1854. Moved to New Orleans in 1855/56 where he died in 1857. I cannot find them in passenger list or N.Y. census books.
Fred Wilbert III [ford57dot@netzero.net]

N.Y. won't search for birth record anymore. I tried that! They are not in any N.Y.census books that I' ve looked into either.
