Yes, oh, yes! Please - any help is super at this point. I've never found anything pointing to another county for Robert New Wilbourne and Amanda! Given the number of Wilbournes in the Halifax area at the time, I will be very surprised to find out my Theo wasn't related to them in some way ... he may still be, though, if I can find out where his family originated.

Would you mind terribly using my home e-mail in future? It's cricket.602@comcast.net - if you would, please. Thanks so much for responding and I look forward to seeing what you've got.
Linda

I have never been able to connect Theophilus Scott Wilbourn to the other families of Halifax. It was either the marriage record or death notice on Robert New Wilbourn that stated he was from another county (not Halifax). I have an extensive file on his folks...eliminating them from the other Wilborn/Wilbourne families in the area. Would take some digging to locate the file, since I couldn't connect them I didn't enter them into computer files. Let me know if I can help. Mary

I had a three day trial and it expired and I did not get this information on my own cause I was not a paid member. How do I go about getting a exact date of Clara Bella Goodman's death? I know it was in 1953 and in Ohio. This is such a GREAT SITE! Thanks again

Re: Clara Bella

If this is her husband, then she died in 1953:

Akron Beacon Journal (OH) - December 1, 1992
Deceased Name: Robert G. Wilborn
RICHMOND, Va. -- Robert G. Wilborn, age 94, passed away suddenly November 28, 1992.
Mr. Wilborn was born in Bloomfield, Mo., lived in the Uniontown area most of his life, living in Richmond, Va. the past several years. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1962 after 20 years of service, was a U.S. Navy veteran of
World War I, a member of Millheim Baptist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Preceded in death by wife, Clara in 1953, he is survived by son, Raymond of Los Angeles, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Linda of Virginia; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside service Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd., Akron, Rev. E. Benningfield officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Millhiem Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. (Hopkins Lawver, Akron, 733-6271.)

Also, I found them in the 1930 US Census (1930 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Summit > Akron > District 104) and that says that she married him when she was 15 years old.

All clues point to their being married in Ohio, probably in Summit County.

You could email the Records Room at the Summit County Probate Court (which, for some reason, also has marriage records): recordsinfo@summitohioprobate.com -- maybe they will be able to tell you how to get a copy of the license.

Good luck!

Hello Ms Barcena,
Yes, My GGgrandfather was George Washington Wilborn/Wilburn/Wilbourne of Halifax Cty. VA. His wife was Martha "Patsy" A. Mealer also of VA. I had heard that he was blind but I don't have any information on his father. I looked up the word "Achillis". The word can pretain to several different things, achillis heel, spear, tendon. The word can also be of the "People" orgin. The people of Sumatra-Achinese and their language. It is an Island in the Republic of Indonesia. Please let me know which of these you were referring to. I would really love to know. I am still researching my family's history. It has been so much fun. My granddaughter, Stephanie and I were in South Boston, VA. about 3 wks. ago. We took pictures of the headstones of my Wilbourne family and drove around looking at the different home places. Most of my people came from the Black Walnut Comunity in the 1800's.
Waiting to hear from you. Always, Edith R. Blake

Cadmus Wilborn Civil War Veteran - Burial Place?

Cadmus Wilborn was a Confederate Veteran who was one of five men to win the Texas Gold Star for bravery. The last know information on him has him applying for a Confederate Pension in Comanche County.

If anyone would know where he is buried that information would be most well as he is being considered for inclusion in the second volume of _Texas Burial Sites of Civil War Notables_.

Samuel's son Neal-was my gg grandfather. Neal was born in Pilot Point, Tx in 1870. He married Donie Johnson in Denton, Tx in 1893. My g grandfather-James Cecil-was born in Denton Co. in 1896. I 'm not sure where Samuel lived in Texas. I just have bits and pieces of his life. Would be interested to learn more about him and my ggg grandmother Saphrona and her family. Are we related?
I have an Annie Bell Wilborn born May 1897 (m. Oscar James Raley), daughter of Thomas S. Wilborn, in DeKalb County, AL. Could she be a relation? I can (tentatively) trace her back through Thomas S. (m. Mary Jane Hixon) to Samuel S. (m. Cornelia Scott) to John F. (b. 2/11/1819 TN, m. Sarah A. (b. 4/14/1825 TN? AL?). Annie was my grandmother. Can you (or anyone else out there) connect with this family? I know there are lots of Wilborns up that way. I got the names/relationships off the census and the dates off cemetery records. Thanks!

Hi!
Looking for any information on the above couple. They are my ggggrandparents. I think they are from Ill., moved to Hunt County Texas in the 1850's.
Children were:
John Ira married a ?Beck
Delphia Caroline (my gggrandmother)married JH Compton in 1873. Lived until 1880 in Rains County, Texas
Not sure if there were other Wilbourne children.
I believe the Wilbourne family went to Gail, Texas after 1889 but I am not sure about this.
Any information you can give me would be appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you!
