Hi John, This Benjamin Franklin Wilfong was born in Missouri, the son of George Washington Wilfong and Nancy Boswell. G.W. was the son of Jacob Shuford Wilfong and Susannah Eve Gross. They migrated from North Carolina to Missouri. Benjamin Franklin was born 9/3/1858 in Jefferson Co., Il., and died about 1925 in Wayne Co., Mo. He married Amy Elizabeth Statler, they are both buried in the Wesley-Dixon Cemetery in Hiram, Wayne Co., Mo. You can go to the Find A Grave website and see a picture of their tombstone. I believe this is the URL: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=24...

You have this Benjamin listed as the son of Abel Morgan Wilfong and that is not correct. Abel's son was Benjamin T. Wilfong, as referenced on all of the census' that you have listed.

Benjamin Franklin and Amy Elizabeth Statler Wilfong's children are: Cleveland Henry, James Rufus, George Washington, Harriett P., Adam Jefferson, Lauretta K., and Thomas Franklin.

Ruth
Will you please send me all your records you care to share on the last name Wilfong. My husbands Grandfather married a Wilfong. The name stuck me as odd, so I decided to research. Yours is the first I have come across. I take it from your blog that you believe the name to be German, right? The family in the late 1800's into the 1900's were from Montgomery County in PA. Thanks for your response. Elen

Martha Wilfong d/o Benjamin Ontario, Canada

Martha Wilfong age 20 d/o Benjamin Wilfong and Mary (Polly) Caroline Hammacher (Haymaker) listed on 1851 Census for Easthope Township, Perth Co, Ontario. (Siblings were Daniel, Eliza (married Daniel Rody or Grody), Jacob, Aaron, Mary, Samuel and Caroline. Per Waterloo County records there was a Veronica - possibly that is Martha since Veronica is not listed in 1851 census and Martha is not listed in Waterloo County listing.

According to 2 marriage certificates for Albert Benmark (born 4/18/1854 - Easthope Twp, Perth Co, Ontario) his mother was Martha Wilfong. (Father was Charles Benmark). Albert has been listed as Denmark on at least one record.

Looking for information about Martha i.e. death, remarriage, other children etc. According to family history in abt 1881 Albert was living in Fordwich, Howich Twp. with children from his first marriage (George and Anna) and his half siblings - unknown last name - William, Chris, Seynert (sp?) and Magie (Maggie?). Albert's second marriage was to Elizabeth Simmons d/o John Simmons and Melissa Healy - Drayton Ontario.

In 1890 Albert, Elizabeth, their children and Anna from first marriage moved to Michigan. I know all the players at that point forward.

Half siblings may have been children from a remarriage of Charles or Martha. If you have any information about Martha or Charles this may help sort things out.

Thank you.

Larry Isberg
isberg48@yahoo.com

Elizabeth Wilfong was born 1789 in Lincoln Co., NC and married William Bandy. Her parents are George Wilfong and Catherine Shuford. I have George's parents as Jacob Wilfong and Elizabeth Jacobs. William Bandy and Elizabeth Wilfong had a daughter Susan Mahala Bandy, b. in 1834 and married Benjamin Hawkins Ballard. They had six children, one of which was my great grandmother Dovey Ballard. I am picky about my files and try not to put too much undocumented information on it. I have George Micheal Wilfong as Jacob's father, but I have seen conflicting information in many trees and am looking for help. Thank you.

I found a post that you made in 2002. I am a descendent of Elizabeth Wilfong who married a Bandy. I would be interested in the documentation you mentioned in your post. I just got into this line after looking for almost 10 years for my great-grandmother Dovey Ballard, who was Elizabeth's daughter and finally am making some headway. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Teresa Freeman
Galveston, IN

Here is a copy of the birth of Johannes Sebastian Wildfang who was born 16 Nov 1732 in Oberlustadt, Rheinland Pfalz (Germany). His parents are Johannes Wildfang and Maria Elizabeth. That was where they left from to come to Philadelphia. They already had Georg Michael when Johannes Sebastian was born.

I looked at the original record in Germany. There is no indication where they came to Oberlustadt from. I believe they may have come from Switzerland, but that is just a guess.

I have some information on Jessie Roy Wilfong which I obtained from a book entitled The Wildfang Family of North America by Terrence Kidd. I will be happy to share what I have with you. I show that he married Mamie Spain and they had 9 children. What type of information are you looking for? You descend from Johannes Wildfang who arrived on the English ship the St. Andrew, took the "Oath of Allegiance" at the Courthouse in Philadelphia on September 12, 1734. He was from the Palatiante Section of Germany and sailed from Rotterdam in Holland.
