My grandmother, Lola, was one of 4 sisters who moved from Morgan County, Ala. to Texas around 1900. Lola then moved on to Oklahoma but Ida, Elizabeth (Betty) and Dora continued to live in Hamilton County. I visited the Carlton Cemetery this weekend and found the graves of Ida (Tandy Wilhite) and Betty (Young) but couldn't locate Dora (Thompson). I would very much like to contact any descendants of these three women.

Nancy, when I get to heaven the first thing I'm going to do is call a meeting of all the John Jormans. Here's what my drawing shows: John Jorman (1797) (son of Julius and Margaret) married Mary McCoy. They had 3 children: Claiborne, Alfred and John Pittman.
Alfred (1824) had MY John Jorman (1846) who married Nancy Basham. They were my great grandparents.
The other son, John Pittman had a son named John Jorman (1861) who married Mary and in the 1880s moved to Dublin, Texas. I spent a day in Dublin a couple of years ago chasing J. Jorman only to figure out that he was not in my lineage. They evidently came to Texas with Mary's parents and I found their graves in the Carlton Cemetery today (David and Nancy Bryan). What do you think? Marilyn

hello, my grandmother was born a Willhite. Her name was Lena A., the daughter of Jasper N. Willhite, and Annie Shannon Willhite. Jaspers line goes back to Johann Micheal Willhite the immigrant from Germany. I hoping for any information about Jaspers brothers. Perry Sammuel and Clay S. Lenas brothers. Also any information about Elza Waller, Jaspers father. Any pictures of the Willhites. Email me at lcombs1952@yahoo.com. Information about Rubie C. Wilhoite would be appreciated. He is buried in the Willhite area where my grandmother and greatgrandmother Annie are buried. He was born 1896 in Tenneesse and died 1980 in Dayton,Ohio.

DAR records show John Jarmon Wilhite born in Green County Tennessee Nov. 12 1791 and died in abt 1842 in Morgan County Alabama. His will is on record there. It lists the slave names I saw mentioned in a previous message. His wife was Mary McCoy. DAR does not show a daughter named Lola. Would that be a nickname for something else?
Can you tell me where I can see the picture of John Jarmon and the story in the AL Calvary Civil War? He is my 3rd great-grandfather. His father was Julius Wilhite (w. Margaret Hise). His father was Conrad Rueben Wilhite (w. Elizabeth Broyles).

Let me know what you would like. My tree is public you may be able to just get the data from there. I am in Illinois, grew up in Iowa, grandparents from Missouri and Iowa. I have found alot of Wilhite stuff just googling but it doesn't seem to match my relatives as yet.
Have a nice evening and I will save your email address.
Just thought I'd jump in here in case you don't have this information. This John W. Willhite and Mahala Nixon had children, Elizabeth N. 1868-1949
Benj Ambrose 1871-1934
Rufus Manual 1873-1927
Della 1876-1949
Thomas Alfred 1877-1958
John Wesley 1880-1964
Lucy 1884-1954
In Dallas Co TX census of 1900 Rufus & Ida has his mother, Emma age 55 a widow living with his family. She states she had 10 children, 7 living at this time. Looks like the above census has 3 missing either died young or as infants.
There is also a John Wm. Willhite in the 1880 census of Dallas Co with wife Rebecca "Becky" that is in my line son of Caleb Willhite and Margaret Odel from TN to Chrisitan Co MO.
I'll do some checking to see if I have any info on your John W. as there are many in this family named John.
Wilhite's of Morgan Co., Alabama

Wondering if anybody on the board/list might be connected to the African American Wilhite's of Morgan Co., Alabama or be a descendant of the slave owning Wilhite's of Morgan Co. In doing some research on my wife's family, I recently discovered that she descends from an Ann Wilhite (African American) who was from Alabama and born about 1841-1847. Wondering if anybody might have any helpful info/records on these families. Thanks.

Whether Sydney was Tobias, there's little doubt in my mind that Tobais Swetnam was Rachel's son.

My great-great grandfather, John W. Hopper(1822-1896), who died in Monterey, was almost certainly the son of Malinda Wilhite and her first husband William Hopper. She later marred Daniel Coleman Ayres. In support of the Civil War pension application by John Hopper's minor heirs (which took years to settle),on 4 June 1909 by Tobias Swetnam of Monterey stated that Tobias Swetnam's grandfather raised both Swetnam and John W. Hopper. The grandfather's name wasn't given and definitive proof is lacking (although I have a ton of circumstantial evidence.) But having Tobias Wilhite as the grandfather is the only thing that make sense as he was Malinda's uncle, since she was the daughter of Achilles Wilhite.

My GG Grandmother was Ellen W Wilhite b 1849 TN, she married Andrew J Housden. She may have been adopted into the Wilhite family. It was told that she was Cherokee from Enock, OK and married a white man to get away from the reservation. The only record I have is a 1870 census record placing her.
Thanks. For some reason I have John as John W. and died in Dec 1891. I'm not even sure where I got the "John H." or the 1891. My wifes line is from his daughter, Bettie Elizabeth and her son, Manual Rufus (named after Rufus Manual). Can you contact me directly at davesgen@yahoo.com

I show Mahala being buried in the Pooleville Cemetery in Parker Co., TX.

Mary Polly Wilhite Seburn (or Seabourn)

Our Seaborn family tree shows that Mary Polly Wilhite was born in 1782 (approx.) and died in 1824 in Bradley County, TN. She was married in 1798 in Jefferson, TN to Joseph Seburn. This is per the US and International Marriage Records. I have looked at your detailed Wilhite family research, but have not found her. Does anyone know anything about her? She and Joseph had a number of children including James Monroe Seabourn who was born in 1799. I will appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

Our information is similar. I have a copy of the marriage bond with Joseph Seabourn. Their 6 children were Bradford (that might be the Harold B. that you have), Casswell, Kinzie, James Monroe, John and Martha. Joseph had settled in Tennessee between Knoxville and the Virginia line after the War of 1812. Then he married Polly. They settled in Bradley County, Tennessee. His son James Monroe Seaborn was one of the largest landowners in Bradley County. James Monroe died 4/10/1870 and is buried in Lee/Old Seaborn Cemetery in Bradley County. We believe Joseph was born in 1775 or 1780. He emigrated from Germany to South Carolina with his two brothers. We're not quite sure where Mary and Joseph are buried. They are not in the Lee/Old Seaborn Cemetery nor are the in the White Oak/Seaborn Cemetery. I believe they are buried on private property in the White Oak Mountain Area. Thank you for the information on Mary's lineage. That will be very helpful. I appreciate your getting back with me. Sincerely, Joyce
