VA Wilkins/Lynch/Miller Conundrum - help please

Hi All,

Family history (as written by her grandson) tells me Nancy Wilkins (1810 to 1894) married David Dudley Lynch (~1810 to ~1861). Sadly, I don't know the parents of either, but per census record reporting, both were born in VA, I believe the Norfolk area. David died and then she married Benjamin Miller. Of course, there's more, but that's the short and sweet of the family lore.

So I've been searching for marriage bonds/records for a while and a kind soul sent me the following:
- There were no records found for a Wilkins-Lynch marriage
- 4 Mar 1829 - Nancy Wilkins marries Benjamin Miller (performed by her father Frederick Wilkins)
- 27 Aug 1840 - Mrs. Ann Miller (Ann being a nickname for Nancy) marries David Lynch

So I'd love to hear from others... what do you think? What's the likelihood that the family history is wrong/switched around? Does it seem plausible the above - that Nancy marries Ben then David, and that this is the same woman? Am I pulling at straws?

Thanks, your input will be most appreciated!
