I'm looking for information on my Great-Great-Grandmother. She was the mother of my Great-grandfather, Frank. Frank had three spellings of his last name (Dryjer, Dreyer and Dryens), but his Soc. Sec. application says his father was ANDREW Dryjer and that Frank was born in POLAND (a surprise to us, we always heard he was born in Austria).
His mother's name was "Mary WITKOWSKI" per Frank's Obituary/Death Certificate, but Frank himself listed her as "Mary VILKOWSKI" on his Social Security Card Application.
Because V and W are so interchanged, I'm wondering if her maiden name might really be Mary WILKOWSKI. Probably from the Posen, Poland area.
Any leads?
