I have Wille family from Gross Wanzer, Saschen-Anhalt, Germany although I do not find a William Wille in my tree.
Wille is a common name in Germany so you have quite a job ahead of you. Where did you Wille's come from? Where did your Wille's live in Canada. Where did they settle in the USA? You will need to look in Canada census for them first and maybe you can find where they came from. It was less expensive to go to Canada first rather than go directly to the USA.

I am looking for my great grandfather and any information on my grandfather. My grandfather is August Wille. He was born Jan 26, 1900 in Ontario Cananda. He crossed the border into Michigan in 1926. Aftet that I loose track of him in any records until my mother was born. His father was William Wille. He was born May 1859 in Germany. Augusts' mother was Elizabeth Wellz or Weltz. She was born Feb 4, 1858. Also in Canada. They had other children. Mary Ann 1888, Samuel 1891, Margaret 1895, Henry 1897. August gave false information on his history for most of his life. I am trying to find any information available. If anyone has any information or suggestions I would really appreciate it. Would like to figure out what he was hiding.

the info I have suggests a location of Jastrazebowo, Posen, Germany. Stephan married a Pauline Kruger in 1852 His first wife was a Charlotte Stebenow who died in 1851

Where is this town? Mine are from Gross Wanzer and Aulosen, Altmark, Stendal, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. These towns are at the very top of Sachsen-Anhalt by the
Elbe River. My great great grandfather, Johan "Heinrich" Wille was married to two women by the last name of Krueger. Please reply.

My Wille's also came from Germany and settled in St. Charles, MO before 1850. My ggrandfather Hermann Wille was born in Prussia around 1836.

Sophie Wills(Willie?) Kowalsky b. 2 April 1831 in Muhlenberg, Ky. d.16 Oct 1864 and is buried in same unnamed cemetery, Pepin Co, Wi.findagrave memorial #26771627. Photo of stone, very difficult to read.
Henry+Sophie Kowalsky,(Misspelled Thooalsky)+children,Frank+Auguste, were living in Obion,Tn in 1860 census. Henry working for RR.then. Henry+Sophie=my gr grandparents.
There is another Kowalsky buried there, in that Wi.cemetery, who died in 1866.
Note:( a child, Pauline was born in 1864, Sophie may have died in childbirth.)
Note: A Charles "Willie" was a witness to Henry's subsequent marriage to Eliza Custer in Lima, Pepin Co, Wi.

No, I do not know anything about an Ike Wille. My Wille's came from Gross Wanzer in Germany and went to DuPage Co. in Illinois. Marlene in South Dakota

Hello! I wish we were realted as I am looking for relatives all the time. Our Wille's originally come from Wittenberg, Brandenburg. Simon Wille was born there. He then moved to Schnackenburg which is now in Niedersachen. He then married Margarthe Jagow in Schnackenburg on January 5, 1772. Johan Christian Wille was one of their children born April 10, 1785 in Schnackenburg. He married Louise Back born February 10, 1783 in Gross Wanzer, Altmark,Stendal, Sachsen-Anhalt and lived in Gross Wanzer. The towns I have mentioned are all in a very close proximity of each other - maybe 15 miles - even tho they are in 3 different states in Germany today. Before 1850 this territory was in Prussia. My great grandmother, Elisabeth Wille was born April 13, 1853 in Gross Wanzer. She immigrated to the USA on May 4, 1872 with her father, Heinrich Wille and step mother, Dora Krueger Wille. Elisabeth married my great grandfather, Carl Meyer in Chicago, IL on September 27, 1872, who was from Eldena, Mecklenburg. They then settled in Clayton Center, Clayton Co., IA.

Wille is a very common name in Germany so it is difficult to figure out who is related to who. You say your Wille's are Pressen. That is an area East of Mecklenburg which is Northeast of the area I am talking about. It is doubtful we are related but anything is possible.

I have a connection in Germany who is researching our Wille family. If I get any information on Wille's on Pressen I will let you know. Marlene

I bought a small article with a photo of Marie Wille. I found her with her family in the 1930 Census living with her father Oswald, a construction contractor, her mother Anna (who died Aug 29, 1945) plus siblings Ida and Arthur. Her sister in law and nieces also live with them at 206 Horn Avenue in St. Louis, MO.

"Junior at Hancock High School Luxemburg, who will represent St. Louis County in a statewide health and posture contest at Columbia in August sponsored by the 4-H Clubs. She is 16 years old, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto? Wille, 206 Horn Avenue, St. Louis County."

"Miss Marie Wille, junior at Hancock High School, was awarded highest honors in a perfection contest this week in the country tryout and will represent St. Louis County in the state meet to be held at Columbia, MO, in August. Hancock is justly proud of this splendid honor coming to this school over all other county schools."

I am researching my father's uncle, August Theodor Wille, who emigrated from Denmark to the US in 1907. I find him in the 1910 Census (see attached file) along with his wife, Agnes, and a 6 month old baby girl, Ruth Wille. She is very interesting to me, because I know nothing about her. However, the trail seems to run cold instantly.

Does anyone have an idea how to find out more about this family?

Looking for any information on a Dora, unsure of first name, Wille. Immigrated with brother Henry F. Wille, my ggrandfather, from Mecklenberg, Germany in 1854. Family story is when they immigrated she came over as his wife for safer passage. Haven't been able to locate their port, ship, etc on their passage over. I have that she went to Milwaukee or Chicago and Henry went on Grant County, Wisc. She may of married a Theodore Brocker or Brooker.

Looking for info on my father's brother Jayda. Born November 26, 1901 to George & Alice Houghtailing in Iowa. Died October 2, 1969, Oregon maybe or Idaho. He is buried in the Williamette National Cemetery, can't wait 6 months for the info to arrive. Located the funeral home that handled his funeral, can not locate his information. He served in the Army. Was married and divorced from a Gladys Hannah in Iowa in the 20's, may of had a daughter together, unknown, just a family mystery. May have married a second time. Not close to the family. I never met the man.

Unfortunately, I don't know where in Prussia they came from. I have info that indicates that my ancestor, Herman Wille, came over with his mother and 2 sisters. The embarked from Bremen and arrived in Baltimore on June 10, 1852. Herman moved on from Baltimore to Louisville. At this time, I don't even know if his father was already here or was dead or stayed behind, or what became of his mother and sisters - whether they stayed in Baltimore or came to Louisville with him. They may be related to your ancestors! I'll hang on to your message and let you know what I find out! Thanks for writing!

I do not know anything about Herman Wille or his family but do have Wille family from Prussia. I found my Wille family in Aulosen and Gross Wanzer in what is now Altmark, Stendal, Sachsen-Anhalt. These towns are at the very North tip of Sachsen-Anhalt now. This is where Niedersachen, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg and Sachsen-Anhalt all come together.

My great grandmother was born in Gross Wanzer(which is called Wanzer now) on April 13, 1853 so we are in the same generation. She immigrated to the US on May 4, 1872. They went to Chicago and then she married and moved to Iowa and then South Dakota.

Do you know what part of Prussia your Wille family is from?

I haven't worked on this in quite awhile. The Henry I am looking for was born June 18, 1845 at Mecklenberg Sherwin, married Hannah Cullen in 1867 at Grant County, Wisc, died and was buried at Williams, Iowa. I have looked in several places to find his parents, with no luck. An old family story was Dora came over with him acting as his wife when she was to be his sister, safer for travelling. None of his children ever met her, but heard the story. I don't have anything on her. I didn't realize Wille was a common name. My Wille side was reserved in what they spoke about... so info was hard to find. Thanks for the info, I will try looking there. My son will be in Germany for a short time this month, I hope he can find something out while he is there.

Isn't this interesting that we are both looking for a Heinrich Wille who went to Chicago. But, my Henry born January 1821, put down on the ship manifest he was from Gross Wanzer in Sachen-Anhalt. He was on the Vandalia coming to NY on May 4, 1872. He had a Dora with him but I think she was his wife. Have you looked in Geneanet.org, Rootsweb.com, Gencircles.com looking for Wille's in Wisconsin. Or, the censuses? If you do not have access to the census, email me privately at marsmemories@sio.midco.net and I will look them up for you. I ordered a death certificate for a Dora Wille from Chicago last week. If it is not my Dora, maybe it is the one you are looking for. I have looked everywhere and cannot find much on my Wille family even tho there are a lot of them in Mount Prospect, IL. They are from Schaumburg-Lippe. Wille is a very common name in Germany so it is like finding a needle in a haystack!

Looking for info on Henry F Wille, (Henrich Fredrich) of Mecklenberg Sherwin Germany. Immigrated to US in 1854, unknown ship. with sister Dora?, she was to have settled in Chicago area. He went onto Wisc/ Ill. around Galena. Served in the Civil War under Grant. Got a land grant after war in Iowa, farmed, raised a family. I don't know where he came from, his parents siblings etc. I am not even sure Wille is his orginal name, I have some records that say it could be Wilke, Wilhelm?

My husband's great great grandmother was Anna Margaretha (Martha) WILLE, b. 3 August 1837. She married Peter CHRIST on 5 January 1854 in St. Louis, MO. Peter and Martha lived in Jefferson CO, Missouri and had 11 children that I know of. Peter and Martha were Lutheran and attended St. John's Lutheran Church in what is now Arnold, Missouri.

In some of the Jefferson County census records, Martha is listed as being born in Hanover, Germany.

Got your second message on the Anna Marie Wille, who I have as a daughter of Anton Wille & Eliz. Kessen. You appear to have a bit of info that I do not have on this family. Looking forward to exchanging what ever info that we both have. Joe Wille is also looking for more info from me, but he is so busy he never sent a sheet of his family background as yet. Maybe some of this info will motivate him. My grandmother, b.1892 and died 1942, was a Bertha Wille, dau. of a Joseph Wille who was a son of Anton. Bertha was my mother's mother, who married a Ray Craft.

Herr Mother and Father (Anton Wille, was born in Oldenburg Germany and M. Eliazbeth Kessen, Born in Essen Germany 12/7/1832; Died 11/5/1905 in NJ) . Joseph was Post Master in Riverside until his death in 1895, then Elizabeth took over the job. I have a picture of their Grave Stone if you want a copy I'll send it, just give me your email address. I do not have her birth place but have gotten some more clues in the past week. I found a census where her daughter, Minnie, (Whilemina)Wille TOPEL said her mother was born in West Prussia. Also, a minister in Uelzen went to Hamburg and said on the manifest in Hamburg they were from Gr. Wanzer. I think I have found this town East of Hamburg to Luebeck and then South by a town called Witttenberge along a river. Gr Wanzer is to the West of Wittenberge. I hope this helps me out. Got any ideas? I think they were Lutheran. Henirich Wille 1821, Dora Wille 1832, Elisabet Wille 1852, Wilhemina Wille 1863, Fr(male) Wille 1865. Thank you.

Yes, maybe Carl Joseph HILLMANN was "roemisch-katholisch" and his wife Sophie was "evangelisch"!

So, Gottlieb Georg 1850 Robert 1862 were baptized protestantly 1850 in Sankt Mariae zur Wiese,

Friederica 1855 and Adolph 1857 were baptized catholicly 1855 in Sankt Patrokli,

Wilhelmine 1859 was baptized protestantly in Sankt Mariae zur Hoehe,

Julius 1866 and Helene 1873 were baptized protestantly in Sankt Petri

and Christine 1868 and Lizzie 1871 were baptized protestantly in Sankt Pauli.

The parents started irresolutely and needed a longer time between birth and baptism, later on they prefered the protestant orientation for their children.

Maybe they chanced their apartments often and so they lived in different protestant districts!

Looking for information on Ida A. Wille, born circa 1884 in Germany, married Melchior Fuhrer in Portland, Oregon, where they were a tailor and seamstress. In 1930 she was living with her brother. I am decended from an ancestral lineage of Wille's. My g,g,grandfather was Frederick C. Wille. He was born in Saxony, Germany. That area had hundreds of Wille's. It is a farming and dairy district. There are also many Wille's in Lichtenstein a very tiny country in the Alps.

I would be interested in locating my ancestors in Germany, so let me know how your research is going. Good luck!! Who knows maybe we're related!! Ha Ha!

I do not find the name Herman used in the info I have on my Wille family but do see the name Sophie used quite often. Usually they named the children for someone who came before them. Our Wille's came to Chicago, IL when they landed in the USA and then branched out from there.

I donot think I can help you out on this Wille family. My family is from Wanzer, Sachen-Anhalt. Wille is a very common name in Germany. It is difficult to sort out who belongs to which Wille family. I have seen on the Internet information about Wille families who are from Switzerland.

I have a Sophie Wille married to a Henry Kowalsky with 2 children: Augusta ,born about 1857 and Frank Kowalsky born about 1859 in Louisville, Ky.
The 1870 Census for Buffalo County, Canton, Wi. shows the Henry Kowalsky household with a different mother. Do not know if Sophie died after or when Frank was born, have no other info on Sophie or Sophia Wille.
In 1883 Frank married a Frances A Locher,daughter of John Locher and Mary Ann Neff, Frances was born in Rangotz,Switzerland. On May 7,1889 Frank Kowalsky married Fannie Hawkins, in Cass County, IN.
Frank Kowalsky was my great grandfather.

Sophie Wille was not from Switzerland, Frances A. Locher was from Switzerland.
Henry Kowalsky was from Prussia.
Frank kowalsky was born April 23,1859,in Louisville, Ky to Sophia (Nee Wille) and Henry Kowalsky.
Frances A Locher (from Switzerland) married Frank Kowalsky in Jones Couny, Monticello,Ia on January 1,1883.
Frances A Locher was daughter of John and Mary Ann (Nee Negg) Locher.
Frank Kowalsky later married Fannie Hawkins in Cass co. Indiana on May 7,1889.
Does any of this sound familiar?

Seek parents of Anton Wille born 1829 in Essen, Oldenburg, Germ. Who later married a Cath. Eliz. Keslen born 1832, also in Essen. They married about 1856 in Germ. and brought daughter Elizabeth, born Dec.

I am looking for the son of Herman & Veronica Wille whose widow, Josephine Wille, is mentioned in his mother's will, which she wrote in 1911. This son was probably born 1857 - 1860 and may have been born in Germany (Prussia) or KY. 1880 census shows the Herman Wille family living in Louisville with 4 children. Oldest is daughter Katherine, age 19, born in KY. These 4 children were all still living in 1911 and are mentioned in the will, so there must have been an older son who had already left home by 1880 and who was deceased by 1911. 1880 census shows no single men of that age bracket with last name of Wille living in Louisville and no Josephine Wille either. No indication in the mother's will of this son's name. I'm at a standstill. Anyone know anything? Also looking for info on when this family emigrated from Germany - possibly late 1850's?
