I have a question mark on birthdate for Elizabeth Perrine. Means I questioned it too. It also made her 28 years old at he birth of her 1st child, William. The death date I have for Alche (Polly) Voorhes is 11 Aug 1839 in MIddlesex Co., New Jersey. Her birthdate ws 7 Aug 1767, in
Middlesex Co., N.J. Mary (Polly) is buried in the Dayton Cemetery, South Brunswick, Middlesex Co., New Jersey. She died 19 Nov 1848 in Middlesex Co. N.J. Mary (Polly) was a widow of both Lott and Nevius. Have marriage date of about 1840 for her and Hartshorne. They were married 16 Mar 1800 in Cranbury, Middlesex Co., N.J. I have no info on Abraham Lott. If you want info on Perrine family, I have that also and a Perrine wrote a book on that family and I found it in the LDS History Library here in Sacramento. Hope this helps..Phyllis Searle

Hi Phyllis - Thank you for responding. I have a question about the birth date of Elizabeth PERRINE, is 1749 correct? That would make her 11 years older than her husband. Do you have a death date for Alche (Polly) VOORHES? Was Polly a widow? Finally any information on his third wife, Mary (Polly) GRIGGS whom he married after the 11 Dec 1839 death of her second husband Garret NEVIUS? Mary was the daughter of Albert GRIGGS and Anna CORTELYOU, and her first husband was Abraham LOTT who I know next to nothing about. I appreciate your help. dave.richardson@mindspring.com

There is a William Willett buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Onondaga, NY. His wife is next to him: Susanna Foster.
Some how I think my branch of Wickhams are related to them. In my fathers (Stephen Wickham) papers is a very pretty picture of a Margaret Willett. From the picture I would say it was taken sometime after 1900.

Willett family of Middletown, Monmouth, New Jersey & surrounding area

My grandfather, Rulief Francis Willett, was born and raised in Monmouth, New Jersey. Researching his family has both amazed and confounded me. I've been delighted to learn of our Dutch ties, while at the same time frustrated by my inability to link my gggGrandfather, Rodman Willet, to his family. One World Tree connects him to father John Willett (1763-1829) & mother Mary (1763-1840), but I've been unable to find any information to confirm this. The closest I can come to confirming this would be the 1840 census when he is living near a Mary Willet that could be his mother. In 1840 he is also living near Euphemia, Christopher and Garrett Willet. There is a connection here, but I can't quite make it.

If anyone is researching this same line I would love to compare notes. I should also note that my great Grandfather was Rulief Smock Willett married to Carrie Etta Hyer. My ggGrandfather was Thomas Willett married to Emma Lamberson.

Thanks!
Stacey
beachdaze@hotmail.com

'Joannes NEVIUS and his Descendants' by A. Van Doren Honeyman 1900 has on page 330 the family of Garret Nevis and his second marriage in 16 Feb 1826 to Mrs. Mary LOTT (nee GRIGGS). "His second wife, Mary, was the widow of Abraham LOTT. She m. as her third husband, Hartson WILLETT." Garret died in New Brunswick 11 Dec 1839 . Mary Griggs WILLETT buried 19 Nov 1848 Dayton Cemetery, South Brunswick, Middlesex Co., NJ. Page 331 has Mary and Hartson married by Dr. Howe. When and where were they married?
There seems to be nothing on Hartson WILLETT! Anyone have any information on Hartson WILLETT? I have found nothing in the US census.
Edrie Willett died 1908 WA

The Mason County Journal of Friday, March 6, 1908
Shelton, Mason, WA

Edrie Willett's Death

The remains of Edrie Willett, whose sudden death at Aberdeen was briefly reported in last week's paper, were brought to Shelton Friday evening. The funeral took place from the Catholic church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Father Matthews conducting the affecting service, and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery over the hill. Besides the sorrowing family and relatives, many young schoolmates and friends were gathered to pay their respects to their young friend.

Edrie M. D. Willett was born in Clifton, Mason County, March 24th, 1899, and died Feb. 27th, at the age of 18 years, 11 months and 3 days. She lost her father at the age of three, and two years later gained a kind step-father, Raymond Cormier. Her first schooling was in Shelton, where she always ranked highest in her school work. She completed the tenth grade here, and went to Providence Academy, at Olympia, where she graduated with high honors. The past year has been spent in Aberdeen with her aunt, Mrs. J. B. Yoder.

She was taken sick on Tuesday and an attack of erysipelas developed, which caused her death within two days. A message was sent Wednesday to Mrs. Cormier, who left for Aberdeen on the noon boat, but the girl was unable to recognize her on arrival. Later the family here were informed that no hopes were entertained for recovery, and all the children started for Aberdeen, Mr. Cormier being unable to leave, not having recovered from his injuries of last fall. In her nature Edrie was kind and gentle, with kind works for all, and formed many warm friends during her short life. She was cut down in the flower of youth and hope, and was soon to have been married to an estimable young man of Aberdeen.

Many flowers were brought here for the funeral, and a beautiful emblem was provided by pupils of the Shelton schools. She is mourned by mother, step-father, sister, step-sister, half-brother and step-brother residing in Shelton, and many near relatives as well as friends.

Marriage date and locations?

Our Octavia married Walter Hunt who died in 1919. The Dayton City directories have her living there until about 1932 when she isn't listed any more.

It might be nice if your Octavia was the same as ours.

Samuel and Spencer Jones - Clark Co KY & Fayette Co OH

Samuel and Polly Carter Jones had children - Harry Jones, Spencer Jones, Thomas Jones and daughter, Martha "Mattie" Jones Higgins.
Samuel's brother, Spencer, had son Wayne F. Jones, who signed the death certificate for Thomas Jones (d. 1911) and said that Thomas was born in Clark co KY
Polly Carter's mother is Lucy Carter (shown in 1880 census, Wayne Twp, Fayette County, as age 77). Strangest thing though is that on the kids death certificates Polly is listed as Foster, Hiesel, Morris and Kieshel. . .not once as a Carter.
Harry Jones married Susanna J. Johnson, daughter of James and Rachel Richman (Rickman) Johnson. Rachel Richman Johnson later married George Thornton in 1878 and then died before 1900.
Harry and Susanna's daughter, Regina Jones, married Oscar J. Willett and lived in Newark, Licking Co., OH.
Am looking for any additional information about this family.

The Willett name actually originated in Normandy, France and came to Britain in 1066. They spread across the British Isles. However, many of them migrated again to America. There is a large population of the Willett surname in Troy, New York. Three of the most famous in the Willett clan are Thomas, Edward, and Marinus. However, many of the Willett clan were divided on both sides of the Revolution and some ended up in the French speaking part of Canada.
