Classification: Query
My direct ancestor is ELIZABETH WILLETTS (born c. 1805 in Lutley and bp: 1 Jul 1810 at St. John's, Halesowen) who married JOHN PARISH on 3 Mar 1828 at St. Thomas, Dudley. Elizabeth was the daughter of SAMUEL WILLETTS and MARY CRUMPTON. Other children of Samuel and Mary (all baptized at St. John's, Halesowen) are: SARAH (bp: 12 Aug 1787), MARY (bp: 15 Feb 1789), NANCY (bp: 24 Apr 1791), SALLY (bp: 17 Aug 1794), LETITIA (bp:29 Oct 1797), SAMUEL (17 Aug 1800), JANE (bp: 1 Apr 1804), MARY (bp: 1 Jul 1810) , and THOMAS (bp: 14 Apr 1811).
Another connection to the surname WILLETTS is that MARY PARISH (bp: 8 Jul 1804 at St. John's, Halesowen), sister of the above John PARISH, married a SAMUEL WILLETTS on 15 Oct 1827 at St. Thomas, Dudley. Their children (baptized at St. John's, Halesowen) are: WILLIAM (3 Apr 1831), THOMAS (3 Apr 1831), SAMUEL (10 Nov 1833), SARAH (24 Jan 1836), JOHN (25 Dec 1838), JOSEPH (27 Mar 1842), and HENRY (23 Dec 1845). I have this family in both the 1851 and 1861 Census from Hasbury, but I do not think that this Samuel is the son of Samuel/Mary CRUMPTON.
There is some confusion about who is related to whom. There is a listing in the IGI for the marriage of a Samuel WILLETTS to a Mary Payne on 29 Mar 1824 at St. John's, Halesowen. Some of the above named children for Samuel and Mary PARISH have been erroneously listed in the IGI as children of this latter couple.
I am trying to sort out the various Samuel WILLETTS who married women named Mary from this area of Worcester. There are 2 more Samuel/Mary WILLETTS who are present in the 1841 Census for Dudley: one couple has children named Joseph (14), Phoebe (10), and Hannah (7); the second couple with children Rose (4), Eliza (1), and Emma (1). One of these Mary's may be MARY MEESE, who married a Samuel WILLETTS on 4 Jul 1831 at St. Thomas, Dudley.
Anyone out there researching any of these WILLETTS?
