I have some information for you. I am from Morris Willey who was the next to youngest child of Eleazer and Wealthy (Marsh)Willey. My grandmother, Lilly (Willey) Bingham recieved many family documents since she was the custodial child taking care of her father Morris and her mother Mary (Bovee) Willey at the time of their passing. Gratefully her mother was a wonderful family history note maker.

Some interesting info. This family had strong ties to the Methodist Episcopal Church from a biographical record for Morris Willey. A Barzillai Willey was noted as one of the early visiting preachers helping to build membership in that congregation as I found in the ME Church of Watertown website. Also I found a Barzillai Willey mentioned in the History of Jefferson County, New York, published by L.H. Everts & Co, 1878, on page 74 in regard to a case in the Circuit Court held on 20 Jun 1808. There was a Barzillai Willey that was a preacher. I believe him to be Eleazer's grandfather and Eleazer's father was Barzillai's oldest child Nathaniel Talman. For years I have tried to fit him in as a child to the seventh child, Eleazer, without success in that or in finding another Willey candidate as my Eleazer's father. One last piece of info, I found in the 1830 census a Nathaniel Wiley (Watertown), Obadiah Wiley(Orleans), Ebenezer Wiley(Orleans), and a Ezra Willey(Rodman)all in Jefferson County NY. There is quite a contingent of Wiley families in the county then and now. I do wish I would have written down the census year but I also had found a Eleazer Wiley in Rutland, Jefferson County, NY and I have just the indexed summary. There could have been some name confusion with the census taking. I need to relocate these census records. Research is a wonderful and I'm happy that my notes have improved as the years have accumulated so I can now share these pieces of information I have gathered with you.
