Re: Fredrich Pius Willmann

Hi. Have been away from geneology for some years. Located a Willy Willmann in Mason Tx and was such a nice person. Got card from him and his wife. This was several years back; he gave me name of the book the Willmann's are in. My great grandfather was Ernst Stein, son of Caroline Willman, Ancestry has her as dau of Anton Willmann and Maria ?Brocob?; is the name Brocob of Jewish descent? I am interested in this as there are several names in the family that make me believe we are Jewish by blood. I have mainly researched my father's family and the Native American blood on that side. Did send and received the Stein line and there is a marriage with a German who is of Italian descent as her father and her last name is Pauli. Before that I got no records. The name carried by the Stein's is Johann and her first name is Johanna. usually a conversion where an Italian is involved. We are Catholic by this line. My ggrfa Ernst is son of Caroline and it shows in his father's will as sent me by a Stein descendant that William Stein, the Revolutionary Soldier of Trier who pioneered in Guadalupe Co. Tx allowed Caroline and Ernst to carry his name. He and Caroline were married in Tx and they had a lot of other children over here. I did get the Stein line going back to 1799 ca. from the Bistumsarchiv in Trier. I thought that Ancestry had the name of Caroline's mother as Broka which is Polish Jew and pronounced "broha" but they ahve it as "Brocob" and I am wondering if the same but different spelling. I am trying to find out who Ernst Stein's father was. My mother was always told that Caroline was a servant in the Stein home in Trier and that William Stein (Johann Wilhelm Laurentius Stein) left the Seminary-never took vows to the priesthood) and became a Rev. Soldier; came to Tx.; Caroline came over with her bro Josef and my mo said she also had a bro Anton and she had Ernst along and he is 4 yrs old in 1852; she came to Guadalupe Co. and they married. A "cousin" states that there was absolutely no connection with Caroline and the Stein's in Trier. Aunt Bertha told my mother that William called Ernst in on his deathbed and told him something and when Ernst left the room "looked shocked and hurt." This must have been when he learned that he was not his real son. I asked my grfa Alfred Stein and my Aunt Ella once at the dinner table years ago who Wm's father was and they must have known something as they looked at each other and one or both of them said they thought it was "Sebastian." I don't know who Ernst's father was. Many illegitimate children they say were born in Trier at the time and that the French made the Germans list all illegitimate children. I have written a Civil library and got no answer and this was about one year ago.

In the year 1867 my gr.-gr.-grandparents Friedrich/Frederick Willmann (*17.8.1834 in Gnoien) and Sophie/Lena Willmann (maiden name Rathsack, *21.11.1832 in Strohkirchen) emigrated from Gnoien in Mecklenburg/Germany to America with their three youngest children Friedrich/Frederick (*ab. 1860), Auguste(a) (*ab. 1863) and Wilhelm/William (*ab. 1866) leaving their eldest daughter (my gr.-grandmother Sophie) in Germany. The family arrived in New York on Aug. 26th,1867.

In the 1880 United States Census I have found the family (now written as “Wilman”) in Utica/Oneida County/New York with two more children: Charles (*ab. 1869 in NY) and Louisa (*ab. 1871 in NY). After that I did not find any more information in the 1890 Census or other sources about the family.

Hi, I am probably not related but I saw your message. I am Regenia Willmann-Campbell. I was born in Rockford Illinois. My dad was Eugene Robert Willmann, son of Jacob Willmann and Mary Melinda (Linda) Reynolds- Willmann. My grandfather Jacob's family is a big road block. All I know is that he is buried at St. Joseph's Cemetary Madison County Highland Illinois. Some of my relatives lived in Belleville and probably still reside there. I also have family in Peoria. My grandfather children were daughters Mary Matilda and Ida Margaret. Sons Lester and Eugene( my dad). Jacob was born 4-7-1876 and died 7-15-1954. I was a toddler when he passed away. My dad died in 1989. Well enough about me. Hope your search will be successful someday. I am still trying to gather my information.
Regenia

JOSEPH WILLMANN BOND COUNTY ILLINOIS 1850

I am looking for any information on JOSEPH WILLMANN b. 1811 in Germany and his wife PAULINE (HUBER) WILLMANN b. 1812 Germany.
I found a WIELMAN family on the 1850 Bond County Illinois Census. The family is a JOSEPH, PAULINE and son MICHAEL age 10.

My grandfather MICHAEL WILLMAN/WILLMANN was born in 1840 in Baden Germany and immigrated to the U.S. in 1844-1846.

MICHAEL married a MARGRETHA/MARGARET STUMPF in 1867 in MADISON COUNTY ILLINOIS.
MICHAEL WILLMAN died in 1917 in Helvetia Township Illinois. His wife MARGARET WILLMANN died in 1922 in HIGHLAND Illinois.

I believe that the family of WIELMAN in Bond County may very well be my WILLMANN/WILLMAN family their first names, ages and place of birth are all the same.
The census indicates that JOSEPH WIELMAN was a farmer and had real estate valued at 200. How would I go about locating any land records for Bond County? I don't live anywhere near Illinois.
If this family looks familiar please feel free to contact me at bobnregi@bellatlantic.net
Thanks,
Regenia Campbell

Hi,

Paul Willmann is also my husband's great grandfather. Max married Victoria Baranek. Their oldest daughter, Marge married Bob Kaemmer. I have found birth and death dates for most of the other siblings through the SSDI. I didn't find any info for Clara born about 1904 and died before 1937. I would love any info you have on Paul and Frances and their family that you would be willing to share.

Joan

Hi, I am Regenia Willmann-Campbell. My grandfather was Jacob Willmann of Highland Illinois. He was married to Linda Reynolds. Her mothers family are the Gigers. I have no information on my grandfather. All the sites I go to only give my grandmothers family history. Maybe we are related. I know that our spelling is Willmann. There was a Charles Willmann Sr. related somehow to me he died May 25 1939 and sevices were held at Stpauls Church. Jacob was born April 7 1876 and died July 15 1954.
Regenia

Kirk,

Do you have any additional information on John and Katherine Willmann? I have her name listed as Catherine Kinder Willmann, and they were killed June 26, 1909 in a railroad fatality accident in Billings, Montana. In the newspaper article, there was a Jacob Willmann, son, 8 years old, being with them at the time of the crash. However, the family says Jacob was not a part of the family. I hope you can help. My great aunt knows virtually nothing about her family. I hope they are the same people.

Dixie Sokolik

Willmann's in Illinois and/or Germany?

I am looking for any Willmann's in the Illinois area (southern IL). My grandmother was Emma Willman and was born in Highland, IL, in 1871. She died in 1944. She was the daughter of Urban Willman (born 1832 in Baden, Germany, died in IL in 1904). He was the son of Philipp Willmann (born 1777 in Germany and died 1844 in Germany).
