Hi Nicole,
Great hearing from you! Nothing new on our family tree.... but then I still hope some more Willmore's will show up who are related. Also, am interested
in other family members of Granty's in Birmingham.... Thomas F. Willmore, Sr.
Don't know much about his family, except that there were some silver smiths.
He came over here about 1910 or so. Anyone who knows about this, please post, and excuse the personal message.... thanks.
I miss you!!!!!
Love, Leigh
I hope you people are still around!

I have:

Presumably in England, James Wilmore and wife Mary Ann Bailey as parents of

Richard Wilmore b. 25 Mar 1842 England
1st wife - Ann b. abt 1840 d. ?
2nd wife - Johanna Cronin b. Dec 1840 Ireland
children:
Mary J. Wilmore b. abt. 1868 London, England
John b. 15 Aug 1871 Michigan
Richard b. 18 Apr 1874 Michigan

According to US census records, Richard emigrated to USA in 1871 - ended up in Jackson City, Jackson County, Michigan, USA. Wife Ann was with him, but I can not find info on her.
Johanna Cronin also emigrated 1871. Information comes from a death certificate.

My searches of the BMD, Rootsweb, Ancestry, and IGI turn up very few possibilities. James Haysmond Wilmore of Stepney came up because of the birthdates. Is anyone familiar with this family?

I have a Willmore family in Jackson County, Michigan -- they descend from Padbury, Bucks. I thought this Richard would be a member of that family, but I have not found him in Bucks.

I very much doubt I can find this thread again and I do not always get an alert of responses, so please email me at marr794@aol.com
Thanks for getting back to me. Turns out, that through research, my g-grandmother's maiden name was not "Howson", but Hoffman. I haven't been doing any researching since finding that out & hadn't gotten much response to this, so had forgotten about it. Sorry to have to disappoint you, but I don't believe there's a connection.

Hi there,
I have at last found our point of connection!Your grandfather was Gerald Howson (I hope that is right!) and he was brother to my husband's grandfather, Douglas. I would really love to get any stories etc about your Dad's history. I know of no-one who can add flesh to the bones of the info that I have. I am particularly interested in why and when the Willmores went to Kuruman. Charles Arthur(Gerald and Douglas's father was the first, I think, and was a trader when he married Esther Laura.
Regards
Flick Willmore

Greetings from South Africa
Four years hiatus between messages is a long time - but a visit from a distant relation has re-ignited my interest in the family history. I can only go back in our line to John Willmore(b1744 in Silsoe) married to Barbara Gregory. Do you(or does anyone) have any information on his lineage? I can't connect him to John Willmore (b1651 and married to Joane Fellow) who seemed to have mostly daughters .

The Howson Connection

Thanks for your reply.Thought you may be interested in the South African connection. My husband's line goes back to Benjamin(1774-1841) who married Sarah Howson. Their son Gregory married Jane Torr and produced amongst others, Charles Arthur who was trading in the Kuruman district of South Africa in 1875.He married a Miss Chapman who produced, amongst others, my husband's grandfather, Douglas Willmore. One of Douglas' twin sons is Derek Howson Willmore as is Derek's eldest son, Garth Howson Willmore. My husband, like Charles Arthur, is still trading in the Kuruman district!!

Hello there,
Sorry I have taken so long to respond. Who was your Dad's father. He must almost have been a contemporary of my late father in law Derek Willmore. Derek's family were traders in Kuruman as were he and his twin brother Errol. Your Dad probably knew them well. Derek passed away last year aged 83. Derek's father was Douglas Willmore, son of Charles Arthur.
They all had so many children it's quite tricky matching them all!!
Regards
Flick

Dear David,
I am writing in connection with a message I have found on Ancestry.com dating back to about Oct 2003 regarding the Willmore. I am messaging you in the hopes that you will be able to give me a glimmer or light. Although my main research is on the How family from East End of London I have discovered that my Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth How nee Cox was married twice. Her 1st husband was Dixon How a Custom's officer. They had 4 children Dixon, George, Edward and Elizabeth. Her second husband was Benjamin Willmore from Koulcord North ( a place I have never heard of). He was a coachman I believe. I am interested to have any information on Elizabeth and Benjamin. Do these folk ring any bells with you?
Thank you Elizabeth How

As you indicated that one of your ancestors married a Sarah Howson, I was wondering if those Howsons may have had another Sarah in their descendancy who may have been born abt. 1855 in England? If they did, do you have information on descendancy, etc.? Also does your information indicate that the family may have immigrated to US. If so, where?

In a death certificate for my grandfather, his mother is listed as Sarah (what appears to be HOWSON - the 3rd letter is a bit difficult to read) & father as Charles CLINE. In checking backward, I located an 1880 census with Charles & Sarah (both aged 25, which would place her birth year at about 1855)that indicated she was born in England. In an 1885 census, there were more children (2 of which are related to me, but my grandfather was born 2 years later, so he's not on it). Again, it indicates Sarah was born in England. Charles was born in NY.

Am having trouble going back beyond 1880 to locate her. Thanks!
