Herbert Wilmore b1876 Lincolnshire, UK

Herbert S Wilmore was my great great uncle, b 1876 Wrawby, Lincolnshire. Son of Charles Wilmore and Sarah Jane Havercroft. There is a cryptic note on the Wilmore family tree that he died in Canada.
I would love to know if anyone has any information about Herbert, whether he married and any descendants.

I found Lawrence with his wife Clarice in 1910. Unfortunately the 1900 census requires an enhanced subscription, which I have not purchased. That should show him living at home with his parents.

I also found a draft card for him for WW1 and the persons he lists as knowing his whereabouts are not Wilmores. I saved that image to my files but I can't attach it. Write to me at wilmer@dmv.com and I'll be happy to share.

I don't know the name but I see you are in touch with Michael. Most Wilmores who retained the original spelling after 1830 are probably in his line.

Ann Wilmer

Hello there, and I wonder if we are related. My mother was Audrey Wilmore, born 1902 to Alexander and Frances Wilmore in King's Lynn, Norfolk, UK.

The reason I have contacted you is that many of "my" Wilmores were musicians, including my grandfather, several brothers of his, also his father William.

One of my mother's brothers, Harold, emigrated to Canada somewhere between 1920-25, I think. Do you think that there is any connection?

Frank Diver

My James P. Willmore, born 1803 in K. & Q. County. Married an Elizabeth Stevens/Stephens about 1825-26. They resided in Essex County by at least 1840 and possibly as early as 1825. 1 son & 4 daughters. One daughter Susan or Suzanna died in a school fire at about 6 or 7 years. Wife Elizabeth died ( maybe in childbirth ) after last daughter born in 1841. This daughter, Lousia was my Gt. Grandmother.
James and a brother, Benjamin brought the family to Illinois in about 1844. Know that James P. Willmore had a neice, Martha Cross, born 1836 in VA, who came to live with them in IL, after the war (abt. 1865). Martha Cross could be a daughter of James (unknown) sister who married a Cross, or Cross could be Martha's married name and she was the daughter of a brother of James P. Willmore. There was a Joseph Wilmore/Willmore who married a Susan Jeffries in Essex County VA. He would have been the age to be a brother of my James P. Does any of this tie into your line ? It is the same time period. Thank you for considering my inquiry.

I believe I may have the Wilmore Bible you are searching for. I, too, am descended from Jane Campbell and John Wilmore. Their son, Jacob who married Mary Lowery was my great great grandmother.
At the death of Sallie Wilmore, my mother inherited a great deal of the Wilmores estate and much of it is in my possession. Among these are pages from a family bible.
I will be glad to copy these pages and send them to you.
You can reach me at this e-mail address: moga2ca@aol.com
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Liz Allen Beaverton, OR

Wilmore Family Bible

I am trying to locate a copy of a Wilmore Family Bible that was once in the hands of May L. Wilmore, 1871-1950, of Harrodsburg, KY, a descendant of John Wilmore 1755-1794 and his wife Jane Campbell 1759-1837. I am also a descendant of this John and Jane Wilmore, through their son John WIlmore, Jr.

In a 1932 letter to a cousin of hers, May Wilmore referred to the Bible as being her Aunt Hannah Wilmore's Family Bible which was then in her (May's) possession. May was unmarried as was her sister, Sallie L. Wilmore 1872-1955, and they both lived in Harrodsburg, KY. So far, I have been unable to locate a copy of the Family Bible birth and marriage records or determine the current location of the Bible if some relative has it.

The Bible family records have been used as a reference for lineage society applications, but the whereabouts of current record copies or the Bible itself is unknown to me.

If someone knows how these can be located, please provide a posting to let me know.

My 3rd gr. grandmother was Margaret Caroline Wilmore. Her father was Judge Elijah Wilmore....it is possible this person is a younger brother to Margaret as she had one who is still nameless at this time, need more research, but was born in about 1828-30, or as the other interested party said, a member of the "family", since there are not "all that many" Wilmore's. Are you in a position to scan and email a copy of the pic since there is someone else who has asked you for it earlier? I would like to see if he looks anything like the pic I have of Margaret Caroline. Thank you, Ingrid

Your grandfather must have been Claud Cleland Minnear. I sent our 4 letters to people named Hedy Jackson, so not sure which one you are. Look forward to hearing from you by US mail.
