Your Wiltons are my Wiltons. My William was born in 1870, and given that his father (also William) was an engineer I wondered if he had followed in the trade.<br><br>I'm also working on William senior and hiw wives - family gossip was that he had 3 wives but I can only identify two - Elizabeth and Maria. Any clues?

The book "Wiltons Galore" compiled by Jo Wilton ISBN: 978-0-473-11318-6 gives details of this family their descendants and ancestors and history as we know it. This book was published by members of the family and sold around 900 copies and there are copies held at the National Library of New Zealand, New Zealand Society of Genealogists and the Wairarapa Archives in Masterton, New Zealand. There are no more copies available. I can however answer queries.

Yes, Sadie Loreta and Zelda May Wilton both married Kennedy brothers. Sadie married Leroy and Zelda May married Curties Mearle Kennedy. I have no children for Zelda and Curtis, but I have Darlene Fay and Lee Ray (wondering is this should be Leroy Jr.) as children for Sadie &amp; Leroy. Also thinking there are living children that may not be showing up in a search.

I have been researching family for a few years now..have abt. 2500 in tree but when it come to fathers line...Wilton from England afraid I have had little or no luck..believe GGrandfather to be a Charles William Wilton b. 1862 Eng - d. 1927...think married to a Martha Price (also no info on her) b.1858 - d. 1900....children Elijah Charles Wilton b. 1883 my grandfather...Emily Jane 1888...Byron 1891...Helen 1895...information seems Charles immigrated to US abt 1888...followed in 1891 by who looks to be his mother Jane? and possibly a half brother George White, all three living in same household around 1900 in Pennsylvania...had world membership for a bit but not finding what I needed I cancelled it. Found Jane ? married to a William Wilton but have no date or locations....was very new at the time and had not saved sources....still not certain what I am doing there...Anyone having any information on this Wilton line I would appreciate your help.

Thank you for the reply. Back in 2000 I had very little information about Sarah Frances Wilton. Eight years later I have quite a bit of information about her including and some about her father and mother, Joseph B Wilton (I believe) and her mother Harriet Baldwin Wilton ( The surname Tite figures in there somewhere I believe) I have not had my genealogy out for quite some time and am depending on my memory (not so good...)If you have any information about the Wiltons, Baldwins or Tites it would be GREATLY appreciated

According to my research with the Wilton Family Tree, Myrl M. Gibson, the third child of John K. Gibson and Sarah Frances Wilton, was born 17 Sept 1896 in Texas and died 1988 in Shamrock, Texas. If this information is correct, that would make her age about 92. My information is very sketchy and that is all I have about her.

Franklin,NH, cemetery is on a hill above the downtown area. The office has a site plan for graves. The Kelley family (Shirley's grandmother, Clara Augusta (Kelley) Wilton, her mother and her brothers are there. Not far from it is an unmarked grave where Clara's in-laws, Nathaniel &amp; Sarah Jane (Clark)Wilton ("Jane" as she was known was originally from Newcastle,Maine). They lived in the Boston area until perhaps 1860. Also in that Wilton grave is an unmarried dau.(Clara's sister-in-law), Jennie L Wilton (1865-1949) who lived in Melrose,Ma. Sadly, the last record about Ralph B (Shirley's father) is the 1930 Census. Like so many men in the Great Depression, he just disappeared. His brother, Dean T, tried to locate him by hiring an investigator, but no luck. Ralph &amp; Dean had a sister, Eva B (b.1891 in Dedham, Ma), who m. Arthur Sherman, an Englishman who outlived her. I met them once; they lived in Everett, Ma (no children). I do not know why Shirley didn't remain w/her mother, Lillian (illness or ?), and I have know idea who might be left to explain that. Use the "tree" names I've given you previously to copy the AWT "notes" still available (on Wilton, back to 1741; for other surnames, much further back) before the Ancestry.com format changes in March. For 20th c. problems use vital records, city directories, census data, the Social Security death index, etc. For Frederick Smart, if you don't already have it: born 7 Sep 1920, Framingham,Ma, died 19 Jan 1996 (last residence, W Roxbury). Good luck in your searching. Tom Wilton

Shirley E Wilton was my father's first cousin. You can locate Wilton genealogy on AWT w/ any of the following: Leroy Alwin Wilton (1906-1945); Dean Thayer Wilton (1887-1959)(Ralph Bradbury Wilton's older brother); Albert Steadman Wilton (1857-1909)(Ralph's father); Clara Augusta (Kelley) Wilton (1861-1938)(Ralph's mother who brought up Shirley; lived in Malden &amp; operated a dress shop; buried w/ Kelley fam. in Franklin,NH; There is a Bradbury fam. connection (in AWT) back to Thomas &amp; Mary (Perkins) Bradbury in colonial Mass.,17th c.,worth looking into; Nathaniel Wilton (Albert's father)(1824-1912). The changeover to new system may hide my AWT notes after March, so it may be wise to look now before they sink out of sight. This accnt is in my son-in-law's name; I live w/ him &amp; my dau. in retirement. If you want more data, you can contact me directly (<a href="mailto://tlwilton@gmail.com">tlwilton@gmail.com</a>); I wish I knew more about Shirley &amp; Gail. In the 1950's Gail was in England where Frederick Smart was stationed in the Army (acc.to my grandfather in Portland,Maine,Ralph's bro.). Ralph B. was b. 26 Jun 1889 at Rumney,NH.
This is Shirley's youngest daughter Sheri from Boston.<br>I knew my mother was raised by her Aunt Eva and Uncle Arthur Sherman so I checked with my sister and she said my mother was raised by her grandparents who were Dulongs.<br>Then somehow shirley was with her Aunt and uncle. As I think about it, how did she become a Wilton? Unless her parents never married and she had her mom's last name.<br>Who were shirley's first cousins? Thanks, Sheri Bastian

Ian,<br><br>My great great grandfather, Solomon Wilton is listed on a census in Cheadle Parish, Bulkey. In family history, it is said that he was perhaps a "black sheep" or a "privateer," from England. In "Families of the South Arm of Bonne Bay" Solomon Wilton (b. 1820 England-1897 Woody Point), is described as coming from Rose Blanche, Newfoundland in 1858, "believed to have been a native of Yorkshire or Wiltshire England, having come to the Island (Newfoundland) prior to 1845. That is far as I can ever get on Solomon. Is he perhaps part of your family? Thanks, Eileen

Solomon Wilton is the farthest "back" that I go in my family tree. I have his date of death as 4-19-1897 in Woody Point, and I believe an 1850 census showing him as an agricultural laborer in Cheadle Parish, Bulkely. Have you found any more about his parents? He married Rachel Parsons in 1844 according to the Osmond book, which has most of the rest of my mother's family with a few errors according to her. <a href="mailto://yelir9@aol.com">yelir9@aol.com</a>

Dear Eileen,<br>Unfortunately not. The Wilton name is fairly widespread in the UK, and Solomon could really be from anywhere. Given the choice of Wiltshire or Yorkshire I'd go for Wiltshire (based on his first name, uncommon in Yorkshire and suitable locational surname), but can't add much else.<br>Best of luck,<br>Ian

Hello, I may have some info on Florence. I believe that my great grandma Lallau (Lou) Wilton Scoggin (1879?-1954) of Garner, White Co. AR was her sister. Other siblings included Daisy and Nora. Family lore has it that their father was John Wilton born in England. The only census records I could find Nora, Daisy and Florence on are the 1900 census in Falls City, Richardson Co, NE. Their mother is listed as Mary E. Hill b. 1859 in TN. Their father is not present although the census indicates that Mary is married and has been for 19years? It also indicates that there were 4 children, all 4 living, Mary was born in TN, her husband in Illinois (?), Daisy in AR, Nora in TN and Florence in AR. It also indicates that Florence was born in December 1893 (?). In 1910 I found Mary Wilton and daughter Daisy in Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. As I recall this census listed her as divorced, born in TN. It also indicates that Daisy's father was born in England(!?). I found Florence Wilton in 1910 living in the 11th ward, Omaha as a 16 year old "inmate" in the "House of the Good Shepherd" an orphanage? After 1910 I can find nothing Mary or Daisy. What do you think? Feel free to email me direct! Dave in Michigan
