Hi Kim. I am afraid that I cannot help with your specific query but I am very interested in the name of the father of Harold. I have in my family tree a Robert Mayne CURTIS who was a farmer near Newbury in Berkshire England in 1881.He was married to a Florence Charlotte BEGBIE. I have also found another Robert Mayne CURTIS b 1824 who was a spice dealer/merchant in London.(possibly father of RM CURTIS junior) I have a feeling that these names must be related somehow. Do you have any more information?

Many thanks

Mark

Hi

My name is Maria Wiltshire and I having been working on my husband's family tree the last year or so. It appears that his ancestors originated from the Kingswood area of Bristol in the 18c and early part of 19c, mainly from Mangotsfield.
Have you any ancestors from that neck of the woods?

His father as shown on their m/cert was Robert Wiltshire. With lots of help from GR members I am in the process of confirming the correct Robert so that I can progress. My father was born in Sparsholt.
Hi. I've just started to research my family tree on my father's side, his name was Joseph Wiltshire and I think we're linking into the same family. My great great grandfather was James Wiltshire born 1815, Kempsey. I'm finding the whole thing fascinating especially how for generations and generations the same names are repeated (y brother is also Joseph Wiltshire). I've also travelled to Kempsey to see if I could fid any graves but no luck. Basically I'm just starting out on this so any info is gratefully received.

I’m still trying to fill in all the pieces, but I have a James Wiltshire, born c. 1766 in Bristol, father of five children. One of the sons, James (b.c. 1800, Stapleton), is my wife’s ancestor. In the thread of messages that follows, there is also a reference to another son, William (b.c. 1801, Stapleton), which I also have information about. The gr-grandson of James 1766, was George Witltshire (b. 1852, Fishponds) who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1880’s and changed his name to Welcher. Any of the information I have on the Wiltshire’s I’m willing to share. Please contact me at greenkuch@earthlink.net.

Hi

My Ann was born Powick c 1834-5. We are not sure of the date, we have not found a baptism as yet, we only have it from all the censuses. However the 1841 says Kempsey registration district Upton on Severn. It does look as though her siblings were born Kempsey. Her father William was born Powick in 1810. However, his father Joseph was born Severn Stoke, so we are descended from the Severn Stoke Wiltshires.

I have five Ann(e)'s in the family tree, including the 1828 Ann who was daughter of Charles Wiltshire and Sarah Yates. I don't have the Ann born 1847.

I have done a lot of research on the family, but it does get a bit muddled over which Joseph was who in 1777 and 1780. I think I have it right because someone else had the same answer. If you would like to e.mail me direct on aclarke22@toucansurf.com perhaps we can swap notes to see if we agree OR disagree. I do so like to get everything right and if you differ, perhaps we can find out why.

Eveline
Wiltshires of Mississippi - research group?

I used to be on an email list with several people who were from the same branch of Wiltshires in Mississippi, but when my computer crashed I lost all their contact information. I'm posting this in hopes one of them sees this and contacts me.

My branch of the Wiltshire family is this one:

Daniel Wiltshire who married AA Wiltshire - they're in Carroll County, MS in the 1870 census. By 1880 she was a widow. I'm related through their daughter Alice (who married William Scott, then Louis Richard).

Daniel apparently was married before AA, I think to a Rebecca Tillman.

I show Daniel's children as Theadore, Luciano, Theopolis, Oscar F., Alice, and Walter.

I'm trying to find any information on the family, and I'm trying to find them prior to the 1870 census.

Thanks for any help.

Does anyone

I have access to an old marriage document of an ancestor William Wiltshire marrying a Martha Dando on 17 May 1814 in Winterbourne, Gloucestershire. They may have had a son called George who married a Maryann Luton and a daughter Eliza who married George Humphrey Bryant in Bristol in 1840.
Do any of these names mean anything to anyone?

Cheers
Kim

Daughter of John Grey, she married Francis David Wiltshire in 1922, though they later split in the 1940s. Ethel had a number of children: Iris, Kathleen, Olive and Derek (who died in 2000).Ethel lived in south-west London for at least some of her life. If you have any information, we have a customer who wishes to make contact with any surviving descendants. Many thanks, Andrew

Hi,
Thank you very much, this has been extremely helpful. My 2 x great grandmother was Lydia Wiltshire and my 2 x great grandfather was William Eltham. I have been intrigued as to why their marriage date was included in a letter from the vicar back in 1879. This was also told to me by someone else researching the Wiltshires a few years ago, but he had the surname recorded as Eltreen, probably gone through a series of transcriptions.
Regards
Liz Livermore (nee Eltham)

My Wiltshire family were from Severn Stoke and Kempsey - there was an Anne born in 1828. There was an Ann born in 1847. I am currently in touch with someone also researching the same family. He is related to the Anne born in 1828 (I think). I have more information to give you from my tree if you are interested.
