Are you the son/daughter of Isaac Clyde Wimberly(1898-1955)? Clyde was my grandfather's brother. According to what I know, Clyde only had one son, William(Bill). If interested contact me at jscottgraf@yahoo.com

Andrew Perry Wimberly's parents

Seeking the verified parents of Andrew Perry Wimberly from Texas. He and his wife Mary Calisa Booker lived in Spicewood, Burnet County, TX most of their lives. Children include William Luther, Dovie Viola, Ira Andrew (my grandfather), Frances Elector, James Monroe, Mary Ann, Annis Amelia, Zara Rufus, and Nora Ellen Wimberly. Andrew Perry's dob is 8/4/1866 and dod 11/22/1941.

My dilemma is that I see 3 possibilities for Andrew's father. 1) Andrew Lawson Wimberly, 2) James P. Wimberly, or 3)Andrew Jackson Wimberly. Most genealogy pages show Andrew Jackson, but I can not find any documentation to support that. I found APW's death certificate that says Andrew Lawson is his father, and I also found a census showing that Andrew Lawson Wimberly was the grandfather of Ira Andrew Wimberly.

There's also been mention that APW was adopted. Any leads or info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheryl

Lynchfield Wimberly was my gr.gr.gr grandfather. I found a Mark Wimberly and Biddy Wimberly in Blount Co., where Lynchfield was born, and they were the right ages to be his parents although I have not confirmed that they are. Your gr. grandfather, George Houston Wimberly was my gr. grandfather's brother. I remember my grandpa mentioning his Uncle Houston a few times. I am also related to the Hobbs family.

HI,
I do so hope that someone here might have knowledge of John and Levina.

Just recently, my cousin researcher found a box belonging to Alice Wimberly containing family info that we have all been searching for these past years.

Alice was the grand daughter of John and Levina. Of course, she has passed so we cannot find out more from her.

Alice had that John was the son of John S Wimberly and Margeret Murray. JOhn S was the son of John and Penelope Perry Wimberly.

I am not sure if this is all correct and hope someone has more information to confirm.

We have records of their son, Capt John Thomas Wimberly of Bainbridge.

Oh, do hope someone has some information.

Susan Barwick
barwick.susan@gmail.com

My Mom was a Wimberly going back to John and Levina.
The name ELVIRA in connection to WIMBERLY caught my eye.
My ancestor was David Wimberly b.ca 1792 NC (Mother may have been Mary ___ ).
His daughter & my ancestor Mary S. Wimberly b.April 1813 Washington / Hancock Co? GA married George W. Brantly on Jan 1834 in Early Co. GA. (David Wimberly & family also in Early Co.) The Brantly couple were in AL then moved to Walton Co. FL before 1845. Their youngest child was Ruthie Jane ELVIRA Brantly b.Dec 1846 Walton Co. FL. d. Feb 1904 Taylor Co. TX.
After husband's death in FL, Mary (Wimberly) Braantly moved to Bienville Ph LA near her father David Wimberly by 1850. David Wimberly & wife Martha, age 56 b. GA last found on 1850 ceneus.(1860 census of Bienville Ph missing.)

Before 1880 Mary (Wimberly) Brantly & children moved to Robertson Co. TX where Mary (Wimberly) Brantly died Dec 1884. Ruthie Jane ELVIRA Brantly & siblings moved to Taylor Co. TX where she died in 1904.

David Wimberly wrote letter in 1862 to Kin in Bienville Ph about death of his son Noah. Could this be a version of Enoch? David Wimberly was an officer in the military and moved often. He was in Washington Co GA but records of that county mostly lost.
Any help in connecting DAVID to other Wimberlys welcome.

I'm actually looking for Elizabeths parents. I had her folks as Samuel Smith married to Abigale Emerson but other sites list Robert Smith Sr. married to a Mary unknown surname. I believe they are my 8x great grandparents connected to the Barns/Barnes Vincent/Vinson Cain and Lamb Families. Any info would help!

Don't know if you're still working on their tree, but if you are let me know. My mother's maiden name is Wimbley and her father's name was Matthew Wimbley and she grew up with the understanding that John Walter was her uncle and Alma the mother of your friend was her first cousin. Yet as I did research on our family tree I could not find the connection between Matthew and John Walter, but this is what I do know. John Walter was born Dec 26, 1890 and Matthew was born Aug 1895. I had to search under Wimberly, Wormley, Wimbly and Wimbley to find records for my grandfather, his father's name was Wilson. Most of the Wimberly, Wimbleys..etc in Arkansas were from, Drew, Desha, and Lincoln counties, hope this helps if you find a connection let me know.

I believe that Livy's dad is George H. Wimberly (Houston). They're all from the Grundy County/Warren County area (McMinnville, TN). I'm trying to figure out where Lynchfield's ancestors are from. Seems like there is nothing beyond Lynchfield Wimberly available.

Nancy Rose Elvira Wimberly

I'm looking for information on my ggg Grandmother, Nancy Rose Elvira Wimberly, who married my gggGF, Asa Guinn.
She was born Mar 4, 1824 in Rhea, Tennessee, where she later married Asa Guinn (b. Feb 23, 1824). They, along with others of the Guinn and Wimberly families moved to Polk County, Arkansas, where several family members had purchased land.

I've found no direct documentation concerning who her parents were, but I suspect that she was a daughter of Major Wimberly and Mary Sterling.
My suspicion is based on the following:
Close proximity of 2 families in both TN and AR
Census of Major Wimberly's family lists Female<5(1830), then F 10-40(1840), then disappears by the 1850 census.
Asa & Nancy Rose Elvira were married abt 1847.
1850 Census, Asa is living with wife listed as Nancy, while this suspected Major Wimberly daughter is no longer living with the family.
1860 Census, both families again are living near each other in Polk County, AR. Asa Guinn being already married to Nancy Wimberly (Guinn).

I've attached my analysis, but would love to find someone who has direct information (family or other) about this person's family.

One other thought. Another Major Wimberly child, Enoch Wimberly, also married a Guinn (Elvira Newraney Guinn) from the same family and moved to the same area of Polk County, AR with the others, and would be probably the closest sibling to Nancy, if my suspicion is correct.

Looking forward to finding more information.

Andy Guinn

I found this information in Marriage and Death Notices from the Southern Christian Advocate 1838 - 1860 compiled by Brent H. Holcombe: "Sister Elizabeth Warnock died at the residence of her son Mr. John S. Wimberly, in Terrell county, GA, Nov. 22, 1857 aged about 58 years." In this same volume are listed many Wimberlys and several Warnocks.
I hope this information is helpful.
Anne Wiggins Smith
OK, we will; as far as I know, Ida, dau of Maranda Wimberly, m. Marshall Holman, and later a Richardson in MS; her kids are Viola, Bessie, Lilda, Leslie (male), etc., and she was born circa 1888AR. You can see Marshall's parents on Ancestry at AR county, AR. I am not sure who the father of Lawson, HIlliard, Ethel, and Ida Wimberly was, but they are all listed as being born at AR...Maranda or her mom, Eliza Jane, may have been born at LA or AR.

I so have some Holmans in the family. My mother's half brother Willis Wimbly (as he spelled it) have Holmans in Georgia. Maybe we can start with the Holmans. I will try to find some full names for you. They are from Georgia maybe Macon Georgia. I have other Wimberly family members that I do not know. My Grand Father Thomas Wimberly had brothers and one sister. Some of their names were Harvey Wimberly, Hettie Wimberly. I do not know their families. Let's keep digging. Also my great great grandfather was Charley Wimberly. I did not know if he had any other children other than my great grand father.

On further research, I believe William is the son of John Wimberly and Narcissa Garrett from Russell Alabama. John was the son of john wimberly and sarah or Penelope Perry. This would fit because William named all his children the same names as John named his kids...in other words, William must have named his kids after his brothers and sisters. Doed anyone have information that might disgard John and Narcissa as Williams dad?

I am twice descended from her, so you will likely find different (sometimes even conflicting) information in the two entries I have for her. To the best of my knowledge, her father was Mack/Mark Wimberly. If you search his name on my tree you will find biographical information that may aid your search. Good luck! Pls. share any info you find. I am anxious to learn more about this branch of my ancestors.

If you go over to the message board Surname; Wimbley you will see some of these same names under a recently dated message (either Feb or Mar '10)

Hello,

I'm a descendent of Frances A. Wimberly (1834-1895) of Georgia. I cannot find her parents and think that James and Martha Eleanor may be the ones.

Would you please send me the info from the family bible in your possession?

I would be most grateful.

Thank you
