John Wimpy, Sr., born before 1697, perhaps in the Northern Neck of Virginia. He died in 1762 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. John Wimpy, Sr., was a blacksmith. He married Mary. She was born before 1697 and died after 1761.

Children of John Wimpy and Mary:

1. John Wimpy, Jr., born about 1708, probably in Essex County, Virginia. He died between 1748 and 1754 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. He married Eleanor Byrum in 1728. He had two children: Henry Wimpy and Elizabeth Wimpy

2. David Wimpy, Sr., born about 1710 or earlier, probably in Essex County, Virginia. (More below)

3. Sarah Wimpy, born about 1720. She died about 1806 in Amherst County, Virginia. She married Terisha Turner.

4. Another possible son of John Wimpy, Sr., is the Robert Wimpy who living in Essex County, Virginia, in the early 1730’s. He seems to have left no descendants.

David Wimpy, Sr., born about 1710 or earlier, probably in Essex County, Virginia. He first appears on the 1750 tax list of Lunenburg County, Virginia. In the early 1760’s he moved to Johnston County, North Carolina. He died after 1769. His wife was likely the Mary Wimpy who relinquished her dower rights when David Wimpy, Sr., sold land in Lunenburg County, Virginia, in 1761. Though evidence suggests that David Wimpy, Sr., may have had at least 3 sons his only surviving son seems to have been David Wimpy, Jr.

Child(ren) of David Wimpy, Sr. and Mary?:

1. David Wimpy. Jr., born about 1734, likely in Essex County, Virginia. (More below)

2. A possible daughter of David Wimpy, Sr., is the Sarah Wimpy who witnessed a deed he made in Johnston County, North Carolina, in 1764.

3. Another possible son of David Wimpy, Sr. is the Thomas Wimpy who died in the Revolutionary War. This Thomas seems to have left no descendants.

David Wimpy. Jr., born about 1734, likely in Essex County, Virginia. He died after 1806 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He married Jarusha. She was born about 1740 and died after 1800.

Children of David Wimpy and Jarusha:

1. William Wimpy, born about 1760 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. He married Rebecca Patton in May of 1785 in Wake County, North Carolina. He died in after 1803 in Georgia.

2. Archibald Wimpy, born about 1762 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He died in 1838 in Hall County, Georgia. He married Elizabeth Henley in about 1796. She was born 1775-1784 and died in 1827 in Franklin County, Georgia. After her death he married Elizabeth Lord or Lard on March 10, 1835, in Hall County, Georgia. (More below)

3. Levi Wimpy, born about 1766 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He died after 1850 in Pickens County, South Carolina.

4. Agnes Wimpy, born about 1771 in Johnston County, North Carolina. She died October 13, 1830, in Pickens County, South Carolina. She married Jesse Garrett.

5. Aden Wimpy, born in 1780 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He died in 1841 Polk County, Tennessee. He married Mornen Lowe. She was born in 1782 and died in 1858.

6. Daniel Wimpy, born 1780-1790 in either Johnston County, North Carolina or Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died after 1830. He married Mary Ann. She was born March 13, 1790, and died September 17, 1887, in Union County, Illinois.

7. Obediah Wimpy, born February 4, 1789, in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died August 23, 1872, in Kentucky. He married Margaret Currence. She was born March 14, 1792, and died February 17, 1854, in Kentucky.

Archibald Wimpy, born about 1762 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He died in 1838 in Hall County, Georgia. He married Elizabeth Henley in about 1796. She was born 1775-1784 and died in 1827 in Franklin County, Georgia. After her death he married Elizabeth Lord or Lard on March 10, 1835, in Hall County, Georgia.

Children of Archibald Wimpy and Elizabeth Henley:

1. Nancy Wimpy, born about 1797 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. She died after 1850. She married Joseph A. Cooper. He died before 1850.

2. Susan Wimpy, born September 19, 1799, in Pendleton District, South Carolina. She died August 30, 1880, in Forsyth County, Georgia. She married John A. Brownlow June 30, 1821, in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He was born March 5, 1797, in Chatham County, North Carolina. He died December 14, 1869, in Forsyth County, Georgia.

3. Elizabeth Wimpy, born about 1801 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. She died after 1860. She married Willis Prince March 20, 1821, in Pendleton District, South Carolina.

4. Larkin C. Wimpy, born 1800-1810 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died after 1832.

5. Obed Wimpy, born 1800-1810 in Pendleton District, South Carolina.

6. Annie Wimpy, born about 1812 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. She died after 1860. She married James F. Foster. He was born about 1805 and died after 1860.

7. Archibald Guy Wimpy, born April 17, 1814, in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died January 8, 1896, in Lumpkin County, Georgia. He married Nancy W. Welchel February 25, 1841, in Hall County, Georgia. She was born May 21, 1818, and died January 7, 1899.

8. Isaac M. Wimpy, born about 1815 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died after 1850.

9. Thomas Henley Wimpy, born about 1818 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died after 1880 in Texas. He married Elizabeth J. Shepherd April 21, 1836, in Hall County, Georgia. She was born about 1824.
