Florence WINDER Garrett was born circa 1848 in York County, VA, a daughter of R.B. Garrett and Laura WINDER. (R.B. Garrett may actually have been R.R. (Richard Roper) Garrett. The handwriting in the marriage index isn't too clear.) Richard and Laura WINDER Garrett may have had at least one more child...Laura Winder Garrett, who married George S. Booker.

Florence WINDER Garrett married Dr. Mallory Armistead Sheild April 12, 1870 in Elizabeth City Co., VA. They had two daughters; namely, Mary Sheild and Mallory Sheild. Mary Sheild married Harvey Laird Wilson January 29, 1903 in Hampton, VA. After Harvey died, she married Dr. Junius Francis Lynch. Mallory Sheild married Blair Pegram Wilson.

I don't have a direct link for you, but did notice some things in your post that may be clues that both can use. I see that you posted that, "(R.B. Garrett may actually have been R.R. (Richard Roper) Garrett." I have a Rachel Roper that married into the Winder family in my line. She married George. W. Winder. Rachel was born Abt. 1838. She married George W.Winder on May 11, 1872, in Hamilton Co., Illinois. I do not yet have information on Rachel Roper's family line, but she may be from your line. I found it interesting that you have both the Roper and Winder names. I beleive that there is a connection somehow here. My Winder line is from all over the country, with many Winder branches, seems to be everywhere. There were Winder family from Virginia.
